Default [WIP] zps_Elevator_Action

I'm not so sure about the name but I would appreciate it if you guys suggested me a better name for this hotel map. Basically it has 8 stories and has some houses outside. Now the first release will have no houses outside because I want to see how the hotel will work out first. Some floors of the hotel will have zombie spawns and I'm putting some gun/ammo spawns close to where zombies are spawning so it's harder to get them.

Screenshots:

Sorry I did the screenshots in Hammer. I did that because if I did it ingame then it will be really dark since there isn't much lights yet. There's not much details yet because I'm still working on the stucture of the map. I'm also being delayed because I don't have my computer anymore and I'm using this really old laptop that runs hammer really slow.

needs some texture alignment.

hmmm

not much to see of how the layout is, how about some views where you hide the stuff in the way so we can see inside the hotel?

front entrance of the hotel needs more detail... in fact, the whole thing needs more detail.

Ya I understand. I'm not working so much on detail yet. I'm still working on the structure of the map. Once I get my new computer things will speed up again.

also im not sure if your doing the same thing but I usually start working on my level in the grey grid development texture then once all my basic brushwork is done i make all textures the nodraw texture then i go around and texture everything by hand only texturing the things I can see.

possibly the easiest and least time consuming optimization process that ive found.

also, dont know if you have ever noticed but roads never do that, eg: never square roads, they always curve.

needs a valet parking type thing with a largish overhanging roof at the entrance and a carpark round the back or underneath it

What I do is I make 1 simple wall. Then color it something that's not hard to see. Then I copy and paste that wall and change it's size and I work my way through until I get a building done.
