Default [Release] zpo_norad_b4

zpo_norad_b4

I know it's not been long since I released beta 3 but there have been complaints about balance issues which I am trying to address, but there is an extent where you can only try to balance the map, you can never balance the player. I do appreciate the server admins who bare with me and host my map which does help me optimize this map.

Download:
zpo_norad_b4 (objective): Download

Changes in Beta 4:
* Made more tweaks to helicopter func_tracktrain and model behavior (I'm hoping that this will fix problems with the helicopter dropping people out, I believe it is an issue where the model lag sometimes (which is pretty much unavoidable due to the nature of the source engine) behind the func_tracktrain entity and physically pushes people through the tracktrain).
* Tweaked balance through adjusting armory opening to after generator 3 activation, adjusting zombie teleporter door times for cargo room and hangar, there's not much else I think I should do otherwise it may be too easy for survivors and make things pointless.
* Adjusted hangar rafter stairs.
* Made vent from Level 1 to Level 2 bigger.
* Added some more objective labels for newbies to the map.
* Minor texture changes.
* Adjusted war room doors to open after fuel pump trigger activated.

Screenshots: found in this thread.

Objectives and Description:
Code:

Objectives:
1. Retrieve Level 1 security card in base commander’s quarters located in the barracks (accessible through the messhall)
2. Retrieve Level 2 security card from the security room in the combat room.
3. Power up generator 3 in Generator room. (2 min.) Optional: Get weapons and ammo from warehouse armory.
4. Flip power breaker 2 in the maintenance tunnel to restore power to level 2. (30 sec.)
5. Activate fuel pump in the hangar to refuel the helicopter. (3 min.)
6. Get to the helipad outside and wait refueling to finish.
7. Escape on the helicopter after refueling. (45 sec.)

Plan B (Safe room):
1. Escape to the war room (connected to the combat room).
2. Hold your ground and wait for the safe room blast doors to open. (1 min.)
3. Get inside the safe room and hold your ground while waiting for the blast doors to close. (2 min.)
----------------------

Hey Silicon! I just tried this map yesterday, and I think its fing great! Don't listen to the whiners. I'm trying to get my more loyal player base to download the map manually so I can get more people on the serever. Very slow automatic download time you see. But no, I love the map. My only complaint is the missing textures where its a purple checkerboard. Bad for immersion. But I understand you're still working on design flaws (of which I've found very few if any). I would almost think this is a zombie panic! team designed map. Good job! I'll try to host your map whenever I can.

The missing textures are due to this version being made for Zombie Panic! Source v1.25b.

I have actually done some expermenting to fix the missing textures on the map. There were also some missing models too resulting in a giant red 3d "ERROR" model in some areas of the map.

I was able to narrow it down to one or two folders from the 1.25 install of ZPS. I put it into a download for some of the guys I play with on my website. Its expermental and not supported by the ZPS development team but it works for me.

Im at work now but if I think of it when I get home I will post more info because I cant access it from here.

Will a .rar file be just as compatible as a .bsp map file? I ask because windows does not recognize it.

A rar file is a compressed archive file, like a zip file. So you put stuff in a RAR file to make the file size smaller. So when you download it, you extract the bsp file from the rar archive.

Yep, it's an archive, use WinRAR to extract it.
