when I try and load the game

when I try and load ZP, the black screen with zombie panic pop ups, but then it stays like that. nothing. I figured out if I minimized my zp and brought it back up it would start loading. When it reached the end of the loading process instead of showing me the wonders of zp, it stays on the black screen. The strange thing is I can hear the sound of the game beign played and the people talking on their mics. but I can't play, join, or see. If I try to reconnect it just does the same thing. (if I exit and repeat the minimize and stuff I sometimes get in.)


I looked in the consule when it wouldn't let me see the game and it said.

Missing Bitmap Font: gfx\vgui\fonts\0_default scheme.tga

anyone know how to fix this??

I've found that the minimizing does this with most of the Steam games I've been playing, so I'd just refrain from doing that and be patient.

but minimizing is the only way I can get the game to start loading, without minimizing it just sits with that black background with the zombie head

I think it usually only does that when you minimize when connecting to a server. It could also happen when you first start up and minimize after that. I know the first one happens though. But, try not to minimize when connecting to a server.

But i dont really get what you're saying when you say

Are you saying you cant connect to a server without minimizing? or are you saying something else?

Dude, it takes some time for the pc to get all the stuff needed, just sit tight and be patient... I don?t know how good your pc is, but it does the same thing to me when I play source mods and I have it all on high.. Just sit around for maybe even 2 minutes.. Then It?ll start loading.

Well, try what he said, it might work. Cause your zp may get "locked up" and not respond when you first start to connect, so you think it froze. Then you try and minimize and when it starts responding again your game will minimize. Then you bring it back up and you have that black screen.

But try making a shortcut for zp on your desktop if you havent already, and copy and paste it. Then right click on it and go to Properties. Look under "Target" You should see stuff that looks like

Now just add +connect <serverip> after zp so whenever you startup it'll connect you to that server. Say if you wanted to connect to the AA server, the text in the target area would look like

I'm not sure if that shortcut will fix your problem or not, but you can try.

If those two dont work, the only other solution i can think of is either reinstalling zp or steam completely. You can decide that.
