If you are ever the last person left alive and don't want to give up, here are some tips.
1. Save your panic button for when you really need it! Sometimes we just press it so we can go faster and get the guns, but what if you encounter a zombie and you need that extra speed to escape?
2. Stick with one gun or don't fidget with selecting multiple weapons. Makes it less of a hassle to worry about ammo and allows you to focus on shooting zombies.
3. Take out only the zombies in the direction of where your going. If theres 2 directions to go and some zombies on each side, take out the zombies only one one side. This will give you an escape passage or more breathing time.
4. Stick with 1 hit-1 kill weapons. When your the last human, you will see ALOT more ambushes. A quick reflex and a shotty could counter this or a good marksman with a magnum could also counter this.
5. Never stop running. Makes you harder to hit, and gives you breathing time.
6. Use heights to your advantage. Humans can jump more times than zombies.

1. I say stick with your gun aslong as you have got ammo, and when you press the panic button and drop all guns to gain speed for escaping you always run into ammo but then you haven't got a weapon? I never drop my gun, maybe if I've got 2 of them then I drop atleast one. Instead of running when you are getting rushed by a zombie horde just move back step by step, run a bit, stop and fire, take em a few (or all of them) out then run again, try to find ammo and armor.
2. If there's other survivors share the guns and ammo! But if you are the only one left, then it's a diffrent saga. Try to use as many guns as you can find, Lets say that you have got a Revolver, you are hunted and you pick up a shotgun, put as many zombies as you can down with the shotgun then drop it and run and concentrate on finding ammo for your main weapon. It's also good to remember where you dropped the shotgun if you find ammo for it and you are in need of firearms. Weapons are good to have but not to many, don't get greedy, as all of you know you get really slow if you have got all the guns with ammo on the map and it will be your death. Instead of carrying it around, make some kind of ammo stash on the map, so you can run there when you are in need of ammo.
3. True, it's always good to have an escape path, make up plans in your head where you are going to run if the place gets to crowded by rotten flesh. And do as Dreamfighter said, only fire at the zombies that are standing in your escape way. If to many zombies are comming from all directions, try to get up somewhere high, for example on a box or a table, then jump over the crowd, that's a good way to reach the exit.
4. Always aim for the head, use your favourite weapon that you know you can handle. If you missed the head but he lost alot of hp, then the crowbar is a great way to put him down without wasting ammo, you only have to learn how much damage the zombie loses when you shoot him. For example, if you fire at a zombie with a shotgun in close combat but missed the head, instead you shot him in the stomach. You can really see that he lost lots of hp due to all the blood, quickly select the crowbar and smack him up.
5. Running is better then camping, if you camp they will find you, gather around you and eventually eat your brainz. If you keep running, you will score guns and ammo that you will find from dead fellows and when the ammo spawns. And yes it's harder to get you then, but as number 3, always have an escape path if you run into to many. You do not want to end up on a zombie teaparty aiight?
6. As I also said in number 3, heights are good for escaping by jumping over the hordes of satans work. And as in number 5, don't camp up there cause when you run out of ammo you're a dead young man.

In zp_village, I use heights.
Here is what I do in VILLAGE. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THE MAGNUM.
When you spawn by the truck, run around the corner and run towards the house. Climb up the ladder and jump right on the ledge.
Jump once again onto the boxes. If a zombie is chasing you, you will lose him if you continue to jump up the boxes.
Jump down, through the broken wall, and run to the windows and enter the house. Run upstairs grab the Magnum.
You can jump outside run across the street and if you have time and it's still there, grap the explosives inside the house.
If the ware house is overrun with zombies HEAD TO THE APPARTMENTS!
______________________________________________
Now head to the Ware-House around the corner. ***IT'S DARK BECARE FULL OF ZOMBIES***
There is usually a human at the ware house. If there is none see if a shot gun is inside. Make sure you close the door.
Climb up the ladder and grab the ammo. Throw your weapons onto the box and jump accross and Wait by the boxes.
When zombie try to come up blow them away with the shot gun.
When you run out of ammo, you go inside and fire your magnum when zombie try to crawl inside. Make sure you plant your explosive outside of the vent enterance.
Blow them up if there are alot of zombies. If you are out run let the zombies come in and open the door for you.
Then if you are the last human. Do what is listed above, to survive.
Good Luck hope this helps some newbies.

village is impossible to win on. and usually, when im the last survivor i camp in a vent with shotgun and magnum. its the best combo. if they walk towards to backwards, one shotgun blast then one magnum shot and they go down. or one shotgun blast and three pistol shots and they dead. works everytime

If it counts as a strategy to run randomly around the map and kill the zombies, then yes.

Fuggin lamer, vent camping makes the game boring as hell and soon enough you will get bored. Not to mention the zombies are not AI and have feelings too
You should really just go hunting its much more fun and thats how you develope skills other than vent camp skillz. And even of you dont got guns its fun running around with crowbar occasionly bashing a zombies in the back of the head before running again... and jumping into all possible corners to escape... i love it ^_^
I REALLY REALLY hate ventcampers!

It is definately not impossible to win as survivors on zp_town. It just takes a lot of teamwork.

Knowing where the healthpacks in the map are is also pretty important.
