I notice some people place ideas on here, thats fine and dandy but what i've found to be the best thing to do is just get an idea of your own and run with it. Making a map based off someone else's idea will only lead to the disappointment of the map not being done their way. Plus if you make a map based on your idea you will find that later you may want to alter it slightly to fit the game atmosphere better, something thats hard to do when making a map for someone else. Finally when you make a map, you put hours upon hours into making it and if you're going to have that dedication you better like what your doing or be paid for it.

Cheese,
No offense but it looks like a HL1 map. I wasn't sure until I saw the light model that is was source. Might I suggest playing with new textures and add more detail to your brushes?

its not even near completion. It's basically the crap hole I live in, so not very exciting. Theres still a lot left to do with it. I dont have much time but its basically a 5 room apartment thats kinda tiny. For the zp map I'll be doing something much larger. And yah it does look like a HL1 map but thats only cus i havent really added any detail to it. its essentially just a barebones map with lighting. Give me another 2 days total time and i'll have some bottles, furniture and an outside.
besides the criticism is actually appreciated. thanks mate.
if you wanna give me some pointers id really appreciate it. I can take all the advice I can get. I love mapping and I have the patience for it. I just dont know all the tricks of the mapping trade but I wanna learn. I'd be happy to help out with zp mapping as much as possible so I'm hoping to get more maps done before the release of zp:s.

Cheese,
It's great to see so many new maps in ZP (for HL1) because a year ago we were all complaining about he lack of Maps and alot of ppl were getting negative critism when we should be motivating those new to mapping into learning. I will offer any help that I can come up with as I think its great that your putting the time and effort into creating something for the community.
I really should get around to completing a map for ZP myself and i'm sure i'll run into a few issues and ask for pointers than too, and like Bogus mentioned you don't have to be a mapper to contribute. Just offer your opinions and critism so we can build on what we know.
I probly shouldn't have posted my critism so early into your map as it's wrong for me to expect the detail involved so early in creation. Take your time and build your foundation first then worry about detail/lighting when you are happy with it's size and fits the reference you want it to look like.
Bogus,
That is one of the many problems with mapping. Motivation is key to completing a map and a lot of us get halfway through a map when we start working on the next. I think keeping a journal and making Map ideas an important entry. I've currently got 3 great ideas for maps and it's hard to keep myself focused on the one i'm working on so I try to ignore the urges to play with other ideas for now.
Tats...

just started messing with some of the textures a bit, not much inthe way of lighting but everything looks better now. Map has had maybe 15 hrs put into it and im trying to do some work with the stairs n such before i really start looking for good textures.
