Default Usefulness of the PPK

The PPK was introduced when zps first came out and was mostly there as a penalty weapon for survivors that joined late in a round to avoid being a zombie.

The mod has changed ALOT since its release.

Seems like the PPK has become somewhat redundant, hardly anybody uses is, most people hate it.

Some players that come across it, usually just unload the ammo from the weapon and leave it on the ground.

My question is, do we really need the weapon in the mod if hardly anybody uses it?

Your thoughts please.....

Is it my favorite gun? No.

Is it my favorite pistol? F*ck no!

I do, however, think it brings enough variety that it's worth having around. Also, just like with any firearm in ZPS -- I use it when I have to.

Funny though, I've met an awful lot of people as I jump from server to server that prefer it over any other pistol. Then again, they also seem to think the PPK does more damage, has more accuracy, fires faster, and *insert ZPS PPK myth*, which I'm almost certain are not true.

I feel the damage of the PPK needs to be raised slightly higher than normal pistols.

If nothing else, it brings a little variety to the handguns, which is a plus. Other than that, as a backup for a finishing shot when your primary runs dry.

You see, I always had a superstition about the PPK, I used to do a little investigating and found the pistols all did the same damage and headshot damage, but it's always been on my mind about headshot rates. If headshots do 42 damage, it should take no more than 6 direct headshots to kill a zombies, it just always seemed to me, as if the PPK had a higher headshot critical chance, and that the capacity of the weapon decided it's chances, obviously, that's an unproven myth of mine!

I'm not the greatest fan of the gun, but i enjoy picking shots off at zombies, and heck, losing to someone who has a PPK only? It's often embarrasing

I like to use the PPK when it comes to mapping for 2 reasons:

1. It allows me to give the players ammo, but not a full box of ammo

2. It's a weapon but a bad one meaning I can have a ton of them and it won't unbalance the map. Example: In zpo_rescuepoint I think I put a lot more ppks then normal pistols in the gun store. This was to give players who had lost their pistol the chance to get another but they were handicapped for abandoning their original pistol. (I lost the vmf to that map sadly so I can't check )

Waznator since you are dev. what's about giving every weapon a kind of buff and nerf?

And maybe weapons that fight the playstyle of the specific gamer?

Besides pistols are fine as they are now just don't take the PPK's unless you have to

ditto, but i don't understand why the ppk doesnt inflict more dmg since it's clip size is reduced halfway. I personally can't stand it but i have to say my life has been saved from random ppk pick ups before
