Default [WIP] Mac 11 - UV map request

Hey guys. Really old model here... Been sitting on my hard-drive since last year rotting away, so I thought I'd try and get it put to some good use. The poly distribution and construction is not... nominal... Used boolean in some parts, so the top of the receiver is split nastily. =P

But yeah, if anyone could UV map this for me (and possibly improve some of the uglier parts =P) then I would be very grateful. Very grateful indeed! Anyway, here's the render. PM me for model files, as I need 5 posts to make links in my topics. The models come in a wide-range of formats: .3ds, .smd, .obj and of course, .max (3DS Max 8)

Once UVed, I'll skin it and release for ZP:S. =D

That's what I need to do, learn how to UV map, anyone got a tutorial link?

Nice model. Once it is all skinned and such, if you need any help putting it into ZPS, let me know, I can help.

Thanks, Kilroy. I do have a UV mapping video tutorial by Bullet_Head, but I find UV mapping "complex" objects like guns too hard. Props I can cope with it. I'm uploading the video for you as I type this. Beware though, he has a cold or something, so his voice is very unpleasant to listen to, heh.

Edit: Here, uploaded - http://www.half-lifecreations.com/Mi...mapping_VT.rar

I tried I failed, but the model is pretty good with the exception of the boolean and some faces that can be deleted to save polys, but I suggested putting up a Uv req at http://www.cdg.net/forums/index.php they have alot of good texture artist and uv mappers.

hardly anything gets unwrapped on cdg unless a) its jaw-dropping b) you're a 'brand name' regular c) it's really simple d) you do it yourself.
best thing to do imo is learn it yourself, unwrapping is pretty simple once it 'clicks' and you just get how it works.

Alright Z3RO, thanks for trying anyway. I guess I will give UV mapping it a shot one day, after rebuilding the boolean'd faces.

Hey Minuit, once you fixed the model, could you send me the files? I want to learn how to UV map so I can do it for my own models and your model looks like a great starter. (Also I just got 3DS Max and need to learn how to use that, been sitting on Milkshape for years...)
