I'll give you the award for most open map eva! :D If you want to keep it like this add lots of the custom cars we got. You can change the colors of the cars with the skins 1,2,3 etc. Besides that nothing much to look at here. I sure hope everyone going to the theater wont be fitting in that small room on the end.. :zombo:

hehehe, im not going to put alot of cars. just 4-5, i plan on putting several screening rooms bathrooms etc.

for the parking lot im trying to keep stuff outside to a minumum, i dont want it to be laggy since its already a big open area

The outside area is way too big, it should be only half the size.
It looks more like a parkinglot for a mall, not a cinema.

Also its going to be impossible for zombies to get survivors. And when survivors stack/hoard all ammo to parking lot and camp there, zombies have even smaller possibility (impossoble x8) to get survivors. I suggest, like others, add cars to that parking lot. There can be lots of cars on that parking lot. Add first lots of cars, and if it starts lagging, reduce the amount of cars until that parking lot are runs fine. No one wants to play map which is unfair for one team.

For the looks I see, it's okay for now.:smile:

if you're going to have a giant parking lot, maybe make it part of a 3D skybox.

I trust Ash to be smart enough to balance this. Or something. At least he better, he should have learned that massively open maps tend to lag as well as be... easy as heck for survivors.

On a somewhat more irritating note, two days ago I started work on my OWN source map... which is also named theater. zps_theater_b1 at the moment... we must talk Ash, for this is clearly a sign of some sort. It's worth noting that my own theater is only the inside of a theater, not the parking lot like we see here so... I'm curious.

I'm already not liking the low FPS outside and there's practically nothing outside, unless you're running everything cranked I'd say decrease the lot size.

Bad move. Anyway, it's up to you if you want all the survivors to gather outside of the main part of the map.

Maps should be designed fitting for the game / mod, and this would probably fit as an AWP map in CSS. It's just too darn big.
I know this is a WIP, but I can already see how the map will play out.
Humans go into the theatre and gather weapons, then they go back out the sniper range and camp in a corner.

I hope you don't take all of this offensive, but I don't like seeing maps be destroyed by bad decisions.

Reminds me of that Mall of the Dead map or whatever, with it's open areas and impossible game play for zombies. Looking at the progress so far, and your comments, it sounds like the best strategy for the zombie team is to just vote to move to the next map or leave and play on a server that actually has fun maps in rotation. ;)

You should pay attention to theese suggestions, in my opinion its looks like a cinima but you need to think more about the gameplay, open areas works good in many mods, but zps is best with tight coridors and dark areas where the zombies can ambush and actually stand a chance, look at the 3rd pic, now how big a chance does a zombie stand with little ash at the end of that huge hallway with his revolver?

Map looks good idea is good, but improove the gameplay please

I agree you need some tipped over cars, some fire and bomb craters. Day time is still cool but keep it dark inside! Also I noticed you need some structures in the open hallways like a tipped over vending machine and desks. Or something tall so zombies can hide behind it.

This will by far be the best map ever released if you change these things.

or take out the magnum atleast, so it won't be easy to kill zombies from long ranged areas.
and just some ammo for the rifle so ppl have to safe it and not waste it ^^.

I really think you're better off taking out the giant lot and adding something around the line of these pictures.

thats actually my cities downtown theater and seems much more of an easier job to work out the "Benny Hill" moments. I've been wanting to work on a map of the exact theater, but I just can't find the time to get my hands on learning Hammer. If you want my ideas to goof with just send me a message.

vampire slayers did a movie theater map and so did counterstrike. They both were pretty decent. The VS one remembered mostly for its wonderful indian music.
