Do I need Source SDK Base to play ZP:S?

Recently Steam had this awesome giveaway free HL2D to people who had Nvidia cards. So I have that but I'm unable to play ZP:S. And from what I've looked at in a couple threads, it seems that I need Source SDK Base, but I don't see that available under the tools tab in the Steam menu. I installed it default into C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods. Any help please?

The free give away with the video cards does not include the source SDK. So you will have to buy a game that includes it.

Also, if i am right, you said HL2 DM, wich is not Half life 2 single player, what you would need...

BTW people, if you give away half life 2 ut from your orange box THAT will include Source SDK and source SDK base, fact, since my friend has SDK, and only thing his acc owns is HL2 that i gave and CS anthology that he got himself... (that is CS 1.6, if it was unclear)


If you have friend with one HL2 to give away from thei O-boxes, whine, youll get free SDK in the throw as well.

If I am correct you would need sdk base because it may have the abilty to fix your source engines if you run into any bugs with zp:s but i think it requires sdk base anyways

You dont nessarly have to have it from the orange box if you buy half life 2 you can get sdk base....

And yes that works great, got my sister a free HL2 Copy as a gift on Steam from someone that had a spare copy from the Orange box. She has got the Source SDK base on her steam account now.

It does not come with the orange box so It can only be bought by buying it though steam, buy css (in stores) buy hl2(in stores) only legal ways of geting a game is either as a gift or buying it your self or someone else buying it for you...

Like I have menchined before it is great for fixing the main critcal error bug where peoples source engines stop working but some how if their sdk source base still works. I can not explain it but some how if you have read my past posts you would know what im going to say because I said it before it helps fix alot of problems with zp:s and I said how to fix them aswell.... but I think I know how the errors was caused when the mod was first realesed with in seconds it caused massive downloads which caused errors on sites and thus caused peoples downloaders to be shorter then they should have been meaning it did not download right the installers still worked for some reason but when people tryed to launch the game it caused their source engines many problems and caused alot of problems in the steams folders..... this is just a theary meaning I am not 100% sure but all the people who I know who suffered from the bugs downloaded the same time I did and the same night it came out and we all got it from the same link on file front.... but anyways what I am trying to say is I strongly suggest everyone who downloads this mod should get sdk source base.... sdk source...... eh they never fix bugs with out like 1000 complants .... I helped test some of the bugs when they made sdk source for the orange box and each time I e-mailed them I had to send about 5 messages per each bug..... and like 10 for rare big bugs..... they still have not fixed the hl2 model browser.....but base they did not add on to in a long time which could be the reason why it fixs your source engine because I think it still uses the old source engine programs
