A week on from release I'm finding Survivors winning, or nearly winning alot more frequently. Certainly a good 30% of the time. People aren't dieing as quickly so a half decent group of players are grabbing the ammo, putting it somewhere sensible and the best two or three players usually have enough ammo to clear up the rest of the zombies.

If anything the number of long Survivor rounds is getting annoying. Some of the maps are so large that the zombie players lose patience and never bother coordinating their attacks, and a half decent blockade and a couple of players with ammo will last 15 minutes while the zombies trickle in, the noobs get lost etc. It's a bloody slow process.

I blame the overly large maps. If we increase the Survivor run speed he'll have too much space to run into and the zombies will never catch him unless there are absolutely ????loads of players. If the maps were all smallish then a higher speed would be fine. Personally for the next release I'd reduce the player limit to 14 or 16 players, and get rid of/redesign the large maps. Then you could go about rebalancing the survivor/zombie situation without worrying about massively fluctuating size and ammo amount from map to map.

I like the large maps, especially subway (the one with the generator room and the cargobay). I like quiet parts in games, so you can coordinate and are unaware where the zombies are, it brings atmosphere. You don't know where the zombies are, you are sitting with some other survivors in the room, in the generator room with a barricade of largely wood, not knowing if you are the only ones left, for all you know the zombies are regrouping and waiting behind a corner, ready to attack. Yes it sucks when the zombies run out of lives and half the people have to wait (sometimes a long long time) but that could be arranged. Make it so the spectators have something to do, like having a bet who's going to win or survive.

I also like the large maps. They should by no means be reduced in size. And if they are to be, the devs should save the large versions under the original names, while naming the new and smaller ones zps_town_small and zps_subway_small for instance, to spare people the hassle of having to download the large versions as cusom maps, leading to lots of unecessary downloads that could have been easily prevented, as was the case with zp_thelabs from 0.93-0.94 in the 1.0 version of ZP:HL1; the devs made a new zp_thelabs and replaced the old one - which was far better - with it. They should have given the new one another name and left the old one in. That was an idiotic move of the devs there to say the least, and I'm sure most people agree with me on that one.

I want to make it clear that I'm not flaming the devs; I'm just saying that their decision in that matter was idiotic.

Molloy, you will learn the large maps quite fast anyways, and if there's some newbie players not familiar with the map, don't be afraid to take the initiative to lead them to the survivors' location - if you know the map, that is.

As survivor I win 30+% of the time. As zombie I win 95% of the time :) I know the maps and I know how to lead a team to success. Now if people would let me play and stop asking me about progress lol.

You could always play under an alias when you don't want to be bothered, you know.

As for myself, I'd guess I have won approximately 10% of the rounds as an survivor so far - and note that I don't take rounds in which the zombie lives were too low into account.

Well, if you play on a small server then the maps are gonna be too big. But the larger maps are perfect for a pretty big server. It actually balances it out that way for the team wise. The reset just depends on if they can use teamwork and survive and such. But probably more than half the time people wanna go grab all the weapons and ammo they can and get as many kills as they can before they die.

This and a suggestion. If you look out for your buddies, they'll look out for you and you'll have a better playing experience and a better chance of winning.

Also DON'T AMMO WHORE.
