The opinion of the community about this is pretty divided. Some people think it's useless, some people think it should be completely removed. I thought out a way to make it both useful and fit into the context of the world.
When using lunge, the zombie moves forward at great speed for a short distance (about as long as the jumping distance). To prevent this from being used as a ability for traveling, the zombie will lose it's balance (speed penalty) and will need to take a few seconds before it can regain it's footing. If during the lunging process the zombie hit a survivor (or maybe just contact a survivor), the survivor will slow down tremendously, too (to emulate being grabbed by the lunging zombie). This slow-down effect fades over time, of course.
Optional bonus: this "grabbing" ability stacks, so if a survivor get lunged by multiple zombies at the same time the survivor will be slowed down even more (to the point of unable to move)
Personally, I think this will make kiting at close range more dangerous, but making the lunge option more useful and fun to use.
