The opinion of the community about this is pretty divided. Some people think it's useless, some people think it should be completely removed. I thought out a way to make it both useful and fit into the context of the world.

When using lunge, the zombie moves forward at great speed for a short distance (about as long as the jumping distance). To prevent this from being used as a ability for traveling, the zombie will lose it's balance (speed penalty) and will need to take a few seconds before it can regain it's footing. If during the lunging process the zombie hit a survivor (or maybe just contact a survivor), the survivor will slow down tremendously, too (to emulate being grabbed by the lunging zombie). This slow-down effect fades over time, of course.

Optional bonus: this "grabbing" ability stacks, so if a survivor get lunged by multiple zombies at the same time the survivor will be slowed down even more (to the point of unable to move)

Personally, I think this will make kiting at close range more dangerous, but making the lunge option more useful and fun to use.

yeah lunge should be a one hit attack used as a last resort not a super sprint and kill the human where he can't runaway at all attack.

Any player who uses the lunge ability to travel is an idiot, i would never waste such a valuable skill in traversing the map.

Lunge should be only used when in the vicinity of a survivor, i often see multiple Zombies utilizing the skill in tandem to quickly overwhelm a struggling human, it's also essential for the carrier to be able to full use the skill...if not he would be picked off.

Carriers will normally exchange 1 kill for 1 zombie life in the first instance of the game...as players are normally massed up and able to deal severe damage to a single target.

I also have seen Carriers using the lunge ability to get into position at the start of the map...in a dark corner, behind a door, above a vent..so it lends tactical opportunity as well.

I don't see any reason to over complicate this skill...maybe tweak it a little?..but don't alter its reason for being there...and thats to stalk and take down single targets who have strayed from a group, it is also extremely effective at separating individuals.

i think it would be cool if you could only only use lunge when you are in the presence of humans...

You have a good point there, but I have mixed feelings about it. That was it would keep people from wasting that ability but at the same time some people think it might be restrictive.

But I can definitely agree, Lunge should only be used when around survivors, otherwise you would waste it and when it came time that you would actually need it, you would get killed.

Only problem with lunge is that the refill is so fickle you usually only get to use it once per spawn. It should automatically fill completely when you kill someone, not be based on damage or whatever it is based on now.
