Okay, to start off, hello everyone, I love this mod. I laugh hysterically when chasing down humans with a large gang of zombies and enjoy it very much. But being a human pretty much means you're bound to die soon. As I played I kept thinking up stuff that would make this game very nice, but complicated.
First of all, Balance issues.
Zombies are usually slow, until recently in movies do you see zombies that actually move fast they were always slow, couldn't jump either but you never saw them try so thats unsure. Climbing ladders seems unrealistic too but I doubt the mod's supposed to be realistic. Humans should be able to sprint, further/faster depending on how much he carries. Jumping should also be affected by weight.
If you're within melee range of a zombie its either drop everything and run or die, with a small chance of killing them, I also sometimes get killed by zombies from a distance which is annoying. Could you replace the large damage with maybe 5-10 damage with an infection timer that can be cured with medicine, which would be very rare; Also, like everyone is saying, guns need to be more powerful, its ridiculous getting killed after putting 2 rounds from a magnum into a zombie's head.
Onto the stuff I'd love to see: barricading, customization, and traps.
Barricading would be a little complex, I thought of two diffrent methods. The first being simple allow people to pick stuff up with e, if its two heavy get another man to hit e on the object and do a team lift, but this would leave both men vulnerable thus needing a small convoy of sorts. The second method would be more the ZP style, you go around and collect building supplies (ex. wood boards, nails, sheet metal, tools, maybe even electronics for surveillance) and pull out the tools, the supplies act at ammo, you'd pull out your hammer or whatever and a ghost of the prop would appear and you could place anywhere on the walls/floor/ceiling and it would appear but you'd have to hammer it a few times to make it stay. A nailgun could be implemented as well to be functional as a tool and a weapon.
Next is customization, Think of that wood board melee weapon, how it has nails in it. Now think of collecting nails and adding them to the golf club or whatever. You'd maybe increase damage of the weapon by 10%. You could also find adrenaline shots or steroids to boost your speed for a short time, but they would have some side effects like making you red all the time even when your still.
Finally, traps would be like in the apartment map, those two gas tanks that you can blow up with a switch. It would be like putting down a blueprint for the trap, lets say a bomb. You lay down where the trap will be, get a list of stuff needed and bring it there. So you'd bring an explosive barrel, an activation device lets say a gun on a wire, and you bring them there and it automatically appears, you set where the trap will be activated, like a doorway. When a zombie walks in, he trips the wire and the gun fires, exploding the barrel. The deadlier the trap the harder the ingredients are to find. Allowing you to make some very cool bases to camp in.
One more thing, You should make a melee weapons tree to classify each weapon, like piercing/blunt/long/short each designed for different situations, like using staff-like weapons for crowd control or an axe for taking down single targets, even though melee weapons are supposed to be last resorts some people, including me, are skilled with melee and can survive on them alone. A riot shield would also be nice, you'd be near stationary but invincible from the front, if they flank you though, you're pretty much dead, that could be abused by blocking the only entrance to a room with it.
New idea! Blood trails, When you wound a human and they manage to escape (yea right) they should leave a trail of blood so zombies can find them and maybe locate a hard to find spot where the humans crawled away to hide at. Humans could probably try to clean up the wound with a "bandage" command, it would heal like 5 health and stop the bleeding trail.
