All that racism stuff is a bunch of crap! Just look at Left 4 Dead. There?s a black guy shooting WHITE zombies and that?s not racist? If it isn?t then this isn?t either.

It WOULD surprise me though if there were alot of white people in one of those villages that Chris is walking through there and like every 1/10 was black. Colour doesn?t matter, Capcom is just trying to make a game for gods sake..

The game looks good and I bet it will be a great addition to the Resident Evil series even though it has nothing with a resident to do anymore >_>

the aiming controls look the same as the Re4 game, it just doesnt have a lasersite by the looks of it. And yes ur gonna need some good croud control weapons, because that looks like about 20 people on screen at a time:ohmy:

I'm one of the more staunch anti-racists on these boards.

However, looking at the game footage doesn't make me scream "racism!". Capcom is just trying to make a game, you are correct. They just put the setting in Africa. But that makes color matter VERY much. You don't find very many white people in Africa, so to stay true to setting they are obligated to make most of the initial people you encounter black. It's just a setting thing, they're not trying to say anything.

I mean, I didn't see a massive uproar of Spaniards get upset when Resident Evil 4 came out.

You misunderstood me.. I meant that colour doesn?t matter at all in the game except to make it realistic, I didn?t mean that they just as well could put PURPLE people in there, or green for that matter.. It?s racism enough that there?s one LIVING guy shooting an army of DEAD people :P

from what i saw of the game on that preview it looks like u will be fighting numerous enemies on screen. They must of had a lot of trouble with lagging in early development?

considering it's for the xbox 360 and ps3? no they did that in re4 in some parts and it did'nt lag

I've been a huge fan of the series and started playing since RE2... which I think is one of the best ones made, just my opinion of course. RE4 was really good, the gamplay was awesome but I completely agree... bring back the zombies... it seems as though they're trying to breath new life into the franchise and while I commend thier efforts I really think it was a disapointment for the most of the fans they already have.

Another thing I've noticed is that ammo isn't as big of a deal as it use to be. I remember finding a magazine of ammo for a pistol in RE2 and really feeling relieved lol. You just don't get that with RE4 and by the looks of it RE5 is following the new gameplay direction. I remember having to run from zombies instead of killing them to conserve ammo, and if you used up your ammo to kill the few zombies you could have ran from, you ran out of ammo when you really needed it. Ah... the good ol days.

I don't care too much for the merchant either, I would much wrather find items or jump through hoops to get some really cool stuff than have a money system. I don't think it helps the atmosphere in this genre... your suppose to feel alone, and fear etc... but when you run into a "friendly" that doesn't seem to care one way or the other it obviously kills that overall feeling of desperation.

Regaurdless, I still consider myself an RE fan... I'll snatch this one up the min it is released.

I think it's just a misconception that RE has been attributed to zombies. While of course they are the mainstray of the series, bottom line is, it was always about the mutations the virus has caused and the pure scare fright factor.

Also with RE4, the direction changed from being a Survival-Horror too Action-Survival. The new gameplay direction (which that itself is the reason why RE is now back on main stream success and seeing how one of the main complaints of the series were the controls). If they were going to release the Hookman Version of RE4, you'd find everything you mentioned, except for the fact that the game has more supernatural elements then CV! And everyone would complain about that.

But they can't please everyone.

Also, I'm glad it's not zombies anymore and it's human beings that are just under virus influence. It wasn't the zombies that got me into RE, it was it's setting. And the merchent was cool, at least he'd give me guns.

I can respect that, good point of view. Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love all of them [RE games]... I would loose interest in a supernatural vers though.

I'm not sure if any of you visit TED.com, but there is allot of interesting discussion on science, technology etc... the reason I bring it up is that one of the philosophers during a speech mentioned that video game players are the most opinionated people out there... especially about video games and I can completely relate to that. I found it interesting but not surprising... just take a look at some of the game forums and it is inevitable... someone on there will be complaining about a game feature or lack there of.

On a side note, they've gone and pushed back the release date to Q2 2008 :( , I was so looking forward to playing RE5 on Halloween.

Saying that Halo is better than Re4 or vice versa is like comparing Apples and Plums. They are two differant kind of things, and never set out to be in anyway similiar, so comparing them is logicaly dumb. Now if they were both 3rd person action games, or both first person shooters, then you can compare.

Gamecube version>PS2 version :DAgreed, even the PC version is crap compared to the GC/Wii version. Good thing the Wii version is THE best version because it has everything that PS2 version has with the much better graphics of the Gamecube.

Also controls were great in the Wii version, I didn't think they were.

i loved resi 4.. it was amazing. I only wish the pc version had been a bit better (as in, worth buyin), cos the cube version misses some extra's out that i would have liked to play.
