Map Ideas

I just thought it would be cool if there was a topic on over used map ideas (ex. hospitals or labs) and have ideas about how to make thoose that are overused with a little bit of spice. And also come up with new map locales.

Bunkers (have been used off and on, hard to tell what catagory to put it in)

This idea has come up before and unfortunately it's never been useful. If you search the old threads you'll find it. All that happens is people list a bunch of places that they'd like to see as maps but don't want to make.

It usually starts out as "I want to map but don't know what to make. suggestions?" and everyone lists about 20 places they think would be great and we never see a map from the person.

Most mappers make a map based on what they want to create and that map usually ends up being better than anything somene suggests. Most people would rather work on their own ideas than anothers.

as for your list, actually I've done a farm and someone else has done caves/tunnels. Bunkers have also been tried too in multiple forms. Just because they aren't on the active topic list doesn't mean they aren't completed or still being worked on.

Whatever you do, **DO NOT** ask for mapping suggestions in-game. Last time I did that I had a whole server of people yelling "Make bridges with porn textures!"

That would spice things up :P, I haver several Ideas now, I just took about a half hour and sat down and wrote of all the coolest places and thought how to make 'em scaryier. Then I drew out a rough map of it. But I think I am going to tak ethe tim to relearn hammer, and make a few small things that I can mess with, then apply what I have learned.

Me and my brother has drawn a layout of a map (on paper), well he almost did everything. Now I?m trying to make that map, it wasn?t my idea but minds like mine, that doesn?t have any good creativity or fantasy, needs help with mapping tips.
