In Zombie Panic Source there will not be any form of a buy menu similiar to Counter Strike Source. Part of ZPS gameplay is collecting and locating the various weapons strewn accross the map. It is up to the player to acquire their weapons and ammunition. This is not a paramilitary op, so you will not had been able tp purchase weapons before hand.

Yay:D

I would hate if they added a buy menu in this game.
It's better to go around, finding the good weapons, and do your best with the weapons you find, than to just kill zombies and buy good weapons.

That's just cs:s zombie mod:sleep:

It's a CS style buy menu and this isn't a cs style game or is it cs. The games weapons are supposed to be O.S.P.(on site procurement). If zombies could buy weapons or upgrades them there might be some use for it but otherwise I kind of like having to rummage through the map for items. Zombies also actually have a chance because survivors don't start with any weapons or armor.

Zombies tend to win more so they have a chance immensly, not to mention we will be adding to their list of abilities in the future anyway.

yes but survivors just camping a buy zone would be horribly unfair. Zombo comes in, dies, survivors buy more stuff.

What if the buy menu, for the first 5 seconds of the game, allowed the player to choose what pistol they start with?

That is good to hear =D

ya know...a buy menu actually wouldn't be half bad. Zombos could buy things too. Like zombo vision, zombie toughness or something like that. Money is already stored in an array for each individual, like CS, and then depending upon who won each round depends upon who gets more "cash." I'd say the underdog ought to recieve more cash so that it balances, but then again I could be wrong.

There are going to be bite or grab attacks? I knew it! :D

hahahaha, *in creepy vioce* "What ya buying?"

Personally, i think the idea of the game kinda leans towards finding weapons... Having a buy zone would encourage camping and would make for unvaried gameplay (you buy the gun you want straight away and then don't have to leave the spawn point to find a gun). It would make it very easy for survivors, although these are just my thoughts.

People don't camp in CS

Zombies will have laser eyes though, so it's going to be better.

This seems to have been overlooked, but I think it's a good idea. Would it really make a difference if you had random pistols from a selection at the start, or being able to choose which of the pistols you had? Would be nice to choose, assuming the major difference between starting pistols is cosmetic. I guess if the starting selection had an obvious 'better' gun, sooner or later everyone would be picking that one and only that one to start with.

CS uses a buy menu and it's like the most popular mod out there for source since it came out in August 2004 or so? They even released it before HL2, didn't they? To show off the physics engine?

You could have func_breakables as purchaseable, armor, or even make the buy menu only available on objective maps, because after all it's just something map makers put in.

i dont really like this idea. cuz if people have good guns at start it will be hard for the first zombie to kill anyone i say 1 down

you could do it Killing Floor style, just have a few seconds at the start to buy a weapon, but make the guns ludicrously expensive, that way survivors can't buy say an AK-47 and 5 extra clips after 2 rounds, you would actually need to play for like 10 rounds before you can get anything good

but i agree with the post above me about a random pistol at the start, kinda like the weapon box in Nazi Zombies in WaW:)

Why would a survivor thats on the run from zombies have a magic menu that gives them guns for there money :O

and if that is unrealistic, aren't zombies also unrealistic? isn't the fact that normal civilians happen to be highly proficient with firearms unrealistic? the fact that normal households may sometimes have MP5's and M4's as unrealistic? if we nitpick something, we end up taking apart the entire game:)

maybe we could have a Merchant similair to that of Resident Evil 4, "what are ya buyin'!?"

The problem is finding the balance between "zombies are unrealistic, and real life doesn't have a crosshair or weapons that never jam" and "I want to be able to fly and walk through walls with my force lightning powers".

So yes, the game will have some unrealistic components, and also yes it won't go too far away from realism. It will stay somewhere in between, and it's entirely up to the developers just how unrealistic it goes. And since the developers created this topic to explain that they don't like the idea of 'buying' weapons, it will probably never happen.

haha, true, afterall at the end of the day, it's a game, we're supposed to escape from reality, not immerse ourselves in even more of it:)

In my opinion buying weapons in ZPS is stupid. because people who survived, they did not in the shop and there is no the seller to buy something else. are simply trying to survive and to find ways to save their arms

I agree. The whole point of ZP!S is to try and survive with limited weapons.

Buying weapons should NEVER exist... some servers do have buying weapons but that just makes the whity rage quit.
