I have Half Life:Source and Half Life Deathmatch:source, so I have to wait for the source version to play Zombie Panic!...but, then again, alot of people, even people who have already played ZP, are waiting for ZP source because it uses the HL2 engine, right?
Hastings

Yes, Zombie Panic Source uses the source engine. You will be required to own Half life 2 in order to play. No Counter strike source will not work

I've never played Counter Strike Source, I have HL2 and HL2 Deathmatch (Both source) So Yay! I just have to wait!
*Waits while jumping up and down and moping about not getting to play HL1 ZP*

Cool, then you just got to wait fo ZPS. Sit tight and discuss things on the boards. We have a media release in the planning that is sure to blow your sox off. :D

Yeah....Are there any videos of ZP I can see? Just to see some of the gameplay?
Hastings
06-07-2006, 06:22 PM
Yes there are actually. We have no official videos for ZP1 (we hope to fix this for ZPS) , but there are many fan made films that have been completed. I think the majority can be found in the general and off topic boards. Keep in mind that footage you see for ZP1 is going to be drasticly differant that ZPS, which is going to be much, much better

You should get yourself a copy of hl1, how much can it cost? 10 dollars?
Come and feel the unique gameplay of ZP!

Yeah...I guess...But...I'm 14....And my dad might not let me just go and buy another thing of HL just to play ZP...Even If I use my own money!
What version would I get again? WON doesn't work, and Source doesn't...so what works?

Steam runs HL2 and HL1 mods. But yea, go collect some loose coins out from around the house and buy HL1. Even if not just for ZP, it has some really great mods. By far the best 10$ you could spend ATM.
Kommando

You need Half-Life 1.6 + Steam.
xxxrobxxx
06-08-2006, 06:19 AM
actually it's only $9.95 (on steam)
and if you pay $5 extra for a total of $14.95 to buy the Half Life 1 Anthology pack you not only get Half Life 1 but also Half Life: Blue shift, Opposing Force and Team Fortress Classic!
start buying

I thought I read somewhere that a WON version (Which is CD) won't work.
So, what exactly do I need to buy to play ZP? Where do I buy Half Life 1.6?
...Half Life Deatmatch Source won't work right?
Kommando
06-08-2006, 11:24 AM
Well... just buy Half-Life. I said 1.6 because it is the latest version. I think all Half-Life you buy come with a Steam key, but make sure it isn't an outdated version just in case.
And no, Half-Life: Source will not work.
Bowwy
06-08-2006, 11:45 AM
Ok....So...I buy Half life...it will be on a disc...I use a steam key, and put it into steam, and I can use THAT to run ZP?
Sorry, I really am Clueless about this
Kommando

You download a Steam full install - which is free - then you use the key on it. And you install Half-Life aswell, obviously.
Bowwy

:( ...It's not gonna work....I'm just gonna have to wait for source
Kommando

Get Half-Life. It is definately worth it. And if you don't like ZP for HL1 you can download a ton of other mods.

It's my dad. I don't have my own computer yet, and he doesn't want 2 copies of the same game on his computer

Alright, listen up... I'm going to clarify things.
First off, the only reason you are purchasing a disc copy of Half-Life is for the CD-Key that is included in the box. For Half-Life, STEAM uses old Half-Life format CD-Keys, however a lot of the new printed copies (yes, HL1 is still printed after 5+ years) are in their new, harder to crack, format.
Anyway, You have Half-Life 2, which is the sequel to Half-Life. Therefore you aren't buying a second copy of the game. Each of the two games have their own storyline, unique weapons (some carry over,) etc. They are not the same game.
When you purchase Half-Life 1, go into STEAM and open the greyed out Half-Life 1 icon, a CD-Key entry option will open up. You enter the CD-Key in, and the newest version of Half-Life will download via STEAM, just as Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2 DM did. Download and install ZP, and viola.

and don't forget to buy a fluffy headcrab doll!
you're not cool if you don't have one! (or three)

So, in steam, there won't be
Half Life:Source
and some other half life? Half life source will be Updated, and I can play ZP?
Because I have HL:S
Kezei
06-09-2006, 01:29 PM
No. Half-Life: Source is a remake of Half-Life 1 on the Half-Life 2 Engine. Half-Life one came before any of the others (which makes sense if you think about it.) Go out and purchase Half-Life 1. Not Half-Life: Source. If you look in your games directory in STEAM, you'll notice Half-Life, Half-Life: Source, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Death Match. Each game is seperate, and is different. It's like taking the popular TV show CSI. The's CSI, CSI:NY, CSI: Miami. They're all different, but along the same concept.

Oh. It won't work then. My dad doesn't want 2 half life's on his computer
Hastings

Technically you wont even need to install it. Just use steam to DL it. He would never know.
Bowwy
06-09-2006, 07:10 PM
I'm not gonna do that...he'll beat me up, ground me for a 3 months, then shoot me with a Plastic bead shooter! Not really, I'm just gonna wait
BTW, What is DL? and if he'd never know, that means in his games in his steam profile, there would only be 1 Half life, and it would be source?
Bowwy
06-13-2006, 06:10 PM
...what is DL?
Hastings
06-13-2006, 06:16 PM
DL: Download (through steam)
I take it steam is your dads program then?
You could just uninstall half life source and install the other half life if its a space issue thing.
Bowwy
06-13-2006, 08:34 PM
But, then would steam constantly update like it did for source?
yeah, steam is my dad's program...
Hastings
06-13-2006, 09:45 PM
no, valve rarely ever updates the old hl engine.
Bowwy
06-14-2006, 06:03 AM
Hmm...I think my dad wants the most updated HL there is...:(
if i have half life 2 i could play ZP: source(when it comes out).(ZP:source)? sorry, these questions just raise more questions.
also, when ZP source comes out will it be playable on half life 2 episode one? im just wondering cause you guys said Zp source will use the half life 2 engine, yet the half life 2 engine and episode one engines are the same things basically.

In order to play Zombie Panic! Source, you need to have Half Life 2 Deathmatch installed, which requires Half Life 2.
does half life death match cost money?
Bowwy
06-15-2006, 07:31 PM
When i got HL2, it gave us a steam account as well, AND HL2 Deathmatch
