Ok just got done redoing this map and I hope you like it http://tntvids.com/sharedfiles/InGameScreenShots/complexoutside.jpg
The setting is a military base that had gotten exposed to a toxin on a shipment of food... the gravesite down from the complex had zombies comming to life from the toxin... The remaining people who are still alive must fight for their life until reinforcements arrive...

The crosses where a mistake in the texture and came out glowing white :P thought it looked cool so I kept it...

The crosses look terrible I could agree with you... I just let it slide for now and finished it up I might change it later... and why is that thing floating in air with a crate? The crates on a crane mechanism its a little dark in the pic...

Thanks for the comments I'll look into fixing up various things... I played with a couple people today and found it hard to be a survivor... You have to look for the weapons there's quite alot spread out the map.... Adding spawn for zombies in random places makes it fair for them (instead of them all being at the graveyard)

Some assembly required or you can just join the server I've created... :blink:

Nice r_speeds Yes its an issue with the map that seems to just drive me nuts... I'm going to look up more info on this problem and fix it... If anyone has suggestions on correcting such problems please do tell... convert to source I'm working alot with source now and having even more fun with it.... I'll see what I can do

wpoly that high is a fairly serious design problem. You could try working with hint brushes but depending on how the map is designed that might not help. Unfortuantly I still haven't tried the map out since I've been busy with other things like finals.

ok I just realized something here http://home.wanadoo.nl/bluh/Sander/piet.JPG in this pic I looked at the bottom of the structure and saw there is a 3 inch gap between the floor and the ground, that could cause the (HL) engine to process everything past just that wall. The r_speeds could be a result of that error I made in the map :( I'll do a fix and see if it'll reduce it... Unfortuantly I still haven't tried the map out since I've been busy with other things like finals. Same here very busy :ph34r:

I recently had the oportunity to play with Knights the other day on Complex. It was a very fun experiance, I thourouly anjoyed this map. For the humans there are plenty off ammo to go around, but the way Knights has set up the level the zombies seem to come from nowhere to quickly devour you.

My only gripe would be a explosives crate that is not marked as such. I found my self getting blown up often as I wasnt very safe with my gun while around them.

Hope to see more maps from you Knights :)

As for the exploding crates, I think it was more for my own enjoyment... One time running the map, (me being the zombie) I heard two guys above while I crept down in the tunnel hit it and both killed each other :D Then he just remarked nice work jackass... :lol: It was a golden moment because I had just warned them about the crates..

Thanks for the input and I'm really pissed the r_speeds where bad in a couple places :angry: //Still apears playable laterz :lol:

It was a last minute install in the map that I found useful when survivors try to camp... :ph34r:

The version on this post is the final build.... sorry the maps too screwed up (r_speeds) and would take me too long to fix... I'm moving on to source screw old hl :D I'll have a build for complex17 soon....

Thats actually rather sad. HL1 has been good to you, atleast make a nice neat final version of the map. It also allows you a better base for your Source map conversion.

It's not like I havnt tried though that detail in maps causes hls old (let me remind everyone 98) engine to run poorly... If you play the map and your at the gravesite, point at the blank wall away from the grave site it jumps really high there and I have no clue what's causing it... I love the map but its just a pain to fix.. I fixed alot except the big spots... I'll still work on it time to time but considering this mods move to source I think putting a map 10 times better to work would be more worth it... I'll see what I can do though maybe I'll get lucky...

I'm removing it from my server rotation, people complained about it being a) too big and B) way too laggy, with lots of areas that people just get stuck in at random.

If you can sort those issues out, I'll give it another shot.

too big? I dont understand, its an awesome map. It has its problems, but it is definetly not too big.

Well Knights, if you just start a remake of this with Source Hammer, rather than trying to fix the wpoly areas, you may have a bit less work cut out for you..

That's the plan! :D I'm really sorry the original map didnt work... I've really never encountered such high r_speeds in a map like that one before... I really enjoyed making it but seeing how it became a dooms day map to play online, source it shall be... I've gotten alot done with the map so far and I'll post screen shots hopefully soon... :-(

Sorry to hear that, but it's alright my bad.. I've read up on many discussions on r_speed related maps and if they are bad then people wont play it... I dont know what people are talking about how BIG the map really was it was my intention to make it feel big but really it isnt, more medium sized... And for getting stuck in some spots is true/ one was between a crate/ another in a grave... ^_^ I've been to your forum as well Joe and seems like everyone wanted to scrap the map so I guess it really did suck that bad :( They mentioned looking for weapons was a pain... yet again that was my setup in the map. I've tried alot to fix it but seems like I'm going nowhere unless you want to see a boxy map... :wacko:
