Once again ModDB is holding their Mod of the Year Awards and as some of you may recall ZP:S took home Best Upcoming Mod of the Year in 2007 and just barely missed our chance at Best Mod of the Year 2008. But in 2009 we introduced new weapons, new player models, new maps, new features, and a new game mode. Even with all our additions we've chosen to focus on improving the gameplay, quality of our assets, and communication with our faithful and enormous community.

It would give us great pleasure to take home the trophy that was nearly within our grasp last year but of course it means requiring all of our fans to vote for us. ZPS has been in development for 5 years, and on December 28th will have been released to the public for 2 years. We've accomplished so much with the support of our community which led to awards, PC Mag coverage, corporate interests we turned down but were still very flattering (sorry NDA), and being one of 5 mods to be released via Steam for the very first time. So here's your chance to once again determine if we deserve Mod of the Year. If you believe so please vote for us-

We have quite a lot more work to do and so while 2009 was a very interesting and productive year, we look forward to 2010 just as much.

Sorry guys, but i'll not vote for you this year. Indeed you've added new content and game mode this year with new maps. But new content was barelly polished to be honest. I think that instead of adding new content ZPS team really have to look at at old ZPS bugs and rought parts of the game. For instance, what the point of new Survivors and zombie counterparts if they all have same ugly animation? Also, new weapons animation released around Feburary was well-made but again - most of them didn't fit game well.

I think I'll vote for Reseach and Development this year.

I think I'll vote for Reseach and Development this year.

Um.... didn't that come out years ago? :p

Awesome mod though. Especially when you realise that it was his first mod, and he only started making it to learn how to use Hammer

I like how all of Suhov's examples for "you didn't released polished content, so you don't get my vote" are all animation quibbles. When we've clearly stated we haven't had luck with animators for YEARS.

Sorry can't give ZP my vote, in my eyes ZP is something greater than just a mod.

But what can I do other than give you my vote ^^, so here you have it! : ) .

Suhov you've always been abrasive. But yes you can in fact vote for multiple mods but we do not expect anyone who doesn't appreciate our years of work but most importantly this years worth of work on ZPS to vote for us.

I mean I won't vote for ZPS this year at all.

Animations is most visible issue. As I said most parts of game need polising and bugfixes: gameplay at general for ZPO and ZPS modes, map design (map bugs, balance fixes), network code, hitboxes, collison (how world objects interact with players), textures (objects, characters, map's layout), animations (as I already have said).
And from my POV developres in 2009 puted way too much effort to add more content (maps, models, game modes) instead of fixing known issues.
In short - nothing worth to vote this year. I'll hope 2010 will really move ZPS forward instead of adding new content.

So basically your problem is that we're on the source engine?

I agree with Suhov about models need a retouch (specially zombie animations :P), and collisions (specially with zombie collisions bug when more than one zombie are on the same spot)

Anyways this mod it's by far the mod with more gameplay I playd this year. And bugs apart, I think gameplay it's always the most valuable point for a game.

So I voted for zp:s xD
