So, Hardcore exists now. And there are those of us that play zombie consistantly.

I want to know what you think of it, a Mode where the survivors run and hide, rarely shoot back (also rarely give that delightful death scream into the mic which makes it allll worth it).

I personally think its not as good because the Survivors expect to lose.. not just lose but expect to be roflstomped too quickly.

I mean personally I always love to pretend to give them a chance, toying with them by not killing them all right off the bat and watching them turn.. but in Hardcore it seems like even that is dry because EVERYONE EXPECTS IT!

Seems to me that for anyone who likes playing zombie.. hardcore kills the real fun of it.

TO THE ZOMBIES! Thoughts?

When I play as carrier, I don't kill anyone I hit, just infect everyone!

MWAHAHAHA!

Ya and I think that is the thing though.. Infection is expected and it kind of kills the randomness of infection.

Infection is actually not as efficient, as it guarantees the survivor about 2 points if they turn.

Except that they will turn. The game usually becomes more about winning in a way which you (as a whitey) deam acceptable.

For me, winning is only truly a win if the Survivors know they couldn't have done anything about it. However Hardcore robs me of that little nicety because they know they automatically lose in the outset.

For me Whitey is more about how you fought the battle than how you won the war (Of course I always win the war). I play so everyone can have fun, turning on their teammates and losing in the way I plan for them to lose.

I feel, to some extent, This mode robs the players on both sides of a sense of true achievement. Zombies automatically win, and Survivors almost always lose, unless they hide. And Hiding in itself means they sit there for 5 minutes and grab a cup of coffee or something, and then where are you?

I prefer Survivors that try there best and fail, rather than those that simply accept their fate.

Where is the fun in the hunt if your pray is declawed?

As a constant zombie player, I find hardcore to be a nice distraction in small doses.
However, while I don't want to step on anyone's toes, I do agree that for us who are zombies in the original game mode, hardcore does suck all the challenge and a lot of the fun out of the game.

There are still good servers running the standard ZPS. So, I'm glad it's an alternate game mode, as opposed to an update to the main game.

On the server I played, all the survivors shrieked and shot back..And ran..But mainly shrieked. It was also awesome when the zombies pretended to run the snack stand on the cinema map.

That was on the TDR server; I was there too, jumping on top of the candy shelves behind the counter. :P

Awesome. I was Miss Raptor Jesus btw.

That was so much fun.

You obviously haven't heard me play hardcore. I scream up a storm while running from zombies.

I expect to lose and die fast, but that doesn't stop me from having fun.

I never want to play as a zombie in hardcore. But I still can have fun when playing with friends. Just stomping them into the dirt and laughing about it. Clawing Riley's face off always makes me smile, and then, being able to taunt him afterwards. Of course, all my friends aren't competitive, so we can actually enjoy hardcore by just goofing around and having fun.

I don't see why people only play as zombies to begin with. Of course this is probably gonna make this less of a challenge for you, because it's making it more of a challenge for Humans. Just like Regular was more of a challenge for you, and less of a challenge to Survivors.

I play as a full-time zombie because I enjoy it far more than playing as a survivor.
I mean, there are TONS of FPS games out there, and they all have you shooting your opponent.
Playing as a zombie gives an alternative to that style of gameplay, one that has been missing for me since playing as an Alien back during the Alien vs Predator days.

No, I've not played it.
Although looking at it now, I may dust off my copy of Half Life and give it a go.
