View Full Version : Zombie Panic! Source 1.5.2 update is now live on Steam!

Heya,
A small but important Zombie Panic! Source update has been uploaded to the Steam servers and is now available for you to download! The purpose of v1.5.2 is to address a few minor issues that have been brought to our attention. To get your hands on this baby, simply launch Zombie Panic! Source in your games list and it will automatically download.

As most of you know, Tatsur0 has gone away for 3 months and won't have internet access until he comes back, but that doesn't mean that we are at a standstill. We are still working hard to bring you new updates of ZPS and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. In the meantime, enjoy the mod and this new update.

-Fixed weapon highlight on the Winchester.
-Added cvar "sv_zpoldcol", giving server owners the option to enable old collision (no walking through teammates).

-Updated Haunted (Setting is now nighttime, fixed exploits).
-Updated Cinema (Fixed exploits).
-Updated Policestation (Fixed exploits, removed desk in "camproom" and added barricades).

For some reason I can't play Harvest now. Tried deleting some local cache files to no avail. Also can't seem to find the map under Vista. Stupid Vista. What should I do. Please don't tell me I have to reinstall again.

Servers gotta update too, give it a day or two.

I kinda loved old zps_haunted. Dark maps are cool but that was awesome with evening time. But I'll thy this version anyway.
I'll keep waiting for Keretti update because map way too boring and game usually got ruined by clueless survivors:

Looks great, and thanks a lot for fixing the crashable cvars.

gone for 3 months??? is it possible to live without internet for that long in this era? lol I wouldn't make it.. :zombo: BTW with haunted I just threw the nighttime theme in just for the hell of it. There's also barricades now in the level. If anyone wants the day version I could put both in the build.

Brings a whole new level of griefing to servers.

Try playing harvest now, when 1 dude can block doorways and let his entire team die.

Or lag out in the tunnel, and block everyone there. I've never seen such purposed griefing till now.

Guess your new to ZPS, also play on servers with some active admins.

This is exactly why the new collision system was implemented, and why we only have this as an option. My advice to the community is to request the cvar be disabled if the server does not have active admins on all the time.

Actually, a plug-in for servers to disable the cvar if no admins are on seems like a great idea.

I know people that got pretty upset about how you changed it from sunset to night so 2 versions would be nice :)

Also why not make haunted a zpo? I can think of at least one or two objectives for haunted.

Another thing went to your website Knights :D what ever happened to the plane in the roof? (also you might want to work on that zelda game a bit more :P )

We haven't messed with it yet, but the main person driving the shirt decisions (Tats) is gone for a while. So, tshirts may be a slight wait. I'll get ahold of him and discuss some things.

Great job with the updates, i like the new vehicle for Harvest.

Haunted is sweet as a night map ,but i love the day/dusk theme to it. Any chance we will see that again?

Uh, how exactly would we release it gradually? It's a single cvar.

Not to mention, it was heavily requested by CvG, and TDR also expressed a desire to have this cvar. I just gave it to them, and both knew it was coming at least a week in advance.

If anything, it was too hastily enabled on the servers before they were able to handle it administratively. They didn't have to enable it.

Agreed. Before ZPS even HAD the TF2 collision style, we were playing and enjoying ZPS with the collisions in place and we didn't much complain. The only time we ever complained was when people were getting stuck in air vents, or when people went AFK on ladders.

If you don't like it, play on a different server. It's SIMPLE. The leeway required is the presence of an admin able to switch the cvar on and off if there is a problem. And most of the big servers have active admins on almost all the time. Some servers will have it on, some will have it off. Some will handle it quite well, others will barely look at the system change again. So if you don't like how the server handles this collision system? Swap servers.

Honest to goodness, when I first played with the TF2 collision thing it kind of irritated me. I *hated* having people walk through me (in fact, I still do). But I got used to it.


You'll probably get used to it as well, once the griefers get bored and calm down. Don't fret over changes. Odds are you'll get used to them with time.

The nice thing about having it as an option is that people will be able to decide which they prefer, and choose to play on servers with that collision system. If no collisions doesn't bother some people, they can play on servers with no collisions. If they just have to have collisions, then they can find a well-managed server with them turned on.

It will take a little time, but as with any change, things will find their pace.

Yeah haunted was always an easy map for me basically everyone walks through the house in groups of 3 or more pick all the ammo you see and get on the roof and then camp the 2 windows. Once the zombies were out of lives everyone just goes hunting.

I had that in my origional post, but I edited it out.

I figured that people who complain about this are probably too stubborn to switch servers. Which is why they're demanding that it be removed.

Interestingly, I've only seen one person demand that it be removed. The squeaky wheel brings a valid point, but I don't think it's as prevalent as he made it out to be.

Im going to have to disagree with you Frika. Zombie Panic Source's biggest problem was blocking, now that problem has reared its head again on Euro and Eastern US based servers (mainly CVG). Good thing its not a problem for me, I play on TDR.

Disagree with what?

As to your point, that's only an issue because CvG chose to turn it on. Once they get into the habit of administering with collisions on, blockers will be largely ineffective.

The official developer position on the problem of blocking is just to turn the collisions off, and that is the default setting. But some people who play in a more controlled environment say they wanted this, so I just gave it to them. It isn't my fault that admins are still getting used to collisions being on, and are allowing this to happen.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record here. You can't disagree with facts.

Wow, some bad zombies then imo. Almost never saw humans win it past the 1st round. Was to easy to pick off people on the roof.

Really? Blocking I found was to only be a mid level problem other things were a larger problem.

Some good changes made in the last patch guys! Only, making it harder to survive outside in Haunted might lead to even more roofcamping, thats unfortunate..

I'm also hoping for a patch for Tanker. The map is a maze, and without objectives in a left or right top corner of the screen you lose track of what you should be doing. Oh and another thing about Tanker: the helicopter crash... lmao :P
