View Full Version : Multiple survivor clothes

Hey, Im a NS custimazation forum nubcaek and ive started playing ZP. The game rocks but I didnt like how all of the survivors look alike. I decompiled the survivor model and I added

// 2 skin families

To the qc file. I then put together the 3 extra skins and I tested it out ingame. It didnt work, everyone looked the same. It works in hlmv, but it doesnt work in the game. This leaves me with 2 questions.
1. I could only have 1 mesh that was different. Id like to have at least 2 meshs different. So what would I put in the qc to have 2 different meshes
2. Why doesnt it work ingame, does the game require a certain type of coding?

you will just have to wait till the ZP team adds this into the game. Such as when you join a server a menu comes up to select a charecter, when you select that charecter it gose to the menu that is in the game right now. When you die, the zombie looks like the player you selected.



Hmmmmmmm, maybe i should put this in the suggestion area.

Maybe ZP team can add a code or something that you can put different sub skins on different cats and it randomily changes I dont know if its possible.

i think using submodels would be better. i made a survivor model with 3 submodels in it and tested it ingame.

when i went ingame it showed the survivor2 model. i didn't understand why at first but then i relized that in regular hl dm that most of the player models(gordon, barney, gina) had a submodel1 and submodel2. when you go into the options menu and go to multiplayer it gives you the option of using higher quality player models ingame. if you select yes then it will use submodel2 instead of submodel1 but if you dont select it then it will just use submodel1. maybe you can somehow use this(but instead of making it like an on/off switch, it would give a player a random submodel when they join the game.)

hmm or meaby make it simple in stead of random player modles for every spwan becase ppl who want to be a cop and end up being a prist or somthing.just make player modles ppl can select in there multi player options like in normal half life.
or even cooler ppl can make there own ppl like that one mod desert crisis

i think there should be to seperate folders in the player folder

one would be labled Survivor, and the other would be labled Undead. in each folder could be player models for that specific team. but what would be great is that instead of only being able to choose from a small number of models, you would be able to put as many player models in the folder as you want and choose from those. kinda like how arachnid was saying, except i added a little more into it :P

only problem is many ppl who have costom modles other ppl wont see and after awhile many ppl will look the same.

meaby we can get an update on player modles each version like a pack to make ppl happ.I could lend a hand with it ,if its possible.

only way for this to make sense, is to go ahead and have multiple skin families... ans as more custom skins come out, and decide to be official... add more families.

there aren't enough models out there to warrent multiple models, but multiple skins, that's 100% workable (and requires less code, the coders should be fixing bugs and adding features, not adding code for dynamic player models)
