Well, i have a huge folder from along time ago, with maps & skins i've got, and i found this so decided to finish it off. :)
I'm getting there, atm it's just the house, for now i need a nighttime sky .wad & more xp with lighting.

Make it bigger, lose the tree texture walls, add some tree prefabs or models instead. Also, have some "real" terrain with height differences and such.

Lose the tree - fence thing or whatever it's supposed to be around the edge, and just have the ground go off into the distance, with a clip brush to block players after a certain distance, as Jez said, use tree prefabs, and I believe that hl comes with a night-time skybox, but I might be mistaken.

Jeah, that bug ussually raises it's ugly head as a result of carving or shabby vertex editting. I've had to rework some areas over ten times before I got them right, without getting any errors.
