I've been encountering TONS of errors since the new patch, with a few since 1.0.
The mildest problem I'm having is my Inventory icons at the bottom (showing which weapon and ammo) sometimes turns into a blank black square. Still showing ammo, btw.
The second problem I encounter is occasionally, particularly on Town and Policestation; all the walls, floors, character models, and even my own hands/weapons will be black. Solid black, with no detail. I can clearly see outlines, but it is predominately solid black. Sometimes exiting the area and coming back fixes it, other times zombie vision will fix it, and minimizing and maximizing it almost always works. At any rate, it's still extremely annoying.
My final (worth noting) bug, is a total game crash. The error message I get says something along the lines of "Error in directx9 device present" Usually happening when changing maps, sometimes in the middle of gameplay. This happens quite frequently. Probably 1/4-1/5 of the time I change servers or maps.

I'm running Windows XP Professional, AMD Athlon 64 3300++ Processor (2.4ghz, single core), 2Gigs of DDR ram, and an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb graphics card. My directx is fully up-to-date, as well as my video drivers. What could possibly be causing all of these problems?!!

Any and all help/comments are greatly appreciated.

This is a problem with your device and/or drivers, has nothing to do with us. We've literally touched nothing on the graphics end. You probably updated drivers around the same time as the patch.

I was running an older version for a while, then once the problems became really frequent I updated my drivers to the current ATI drivers. Problems just got worse. Regardless, do you have any input about the blackouts?

Yea, I dont use ATI anymore, They lost their credibility to me since they tagged onto AMD. The new drivers dont work with anything. I cant even use Dawn of War. So, I suggest staying away from ATI.

I have been playing ZPS for quite some time now. Ever since I downloaded 1.21b the game has given me tons of bugs/errors. I receive mostly all the same bugs that blh88 gets, with the exception of the empty boxes. My main problem is how alot of the textures turn black...this is very frustrating. When the textures turn black you can't shine your light on them to make it appear, so you are just guessing if something is there. I thought it was my drivers so I updated my ATI drivers for 8.1 to 8.2 and I still get the "black" problem. I also receive the directX error and another one. Since alot of people are having these problems I think it should be something the ZPS team should look into.

I am running: Windows XP Home, ATI Radeon X1600 (512 RAM), P4 3.4ghz, 1gig RAM, and directX is up to date (I know its a somewhat crappy system now)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with the black textures problem, it hasn't done it to me for a while, luckily. My only real issue now is the somewhat frequent crashing when switching servers.. that ????ed "Internal Drive Error". That black texture was worse than anything tho, it fixes when you minimize.. but obviously, that can takes up to 2 minutes on a non-top shelf pc. Ultimately proving your demise.

Blackblood, my suggestion to you, is to download the most up to date drivers for your card, directly from ATI.com. After that, access your Control Panel and uninstall ANY and ALL ATI related software present on your PC. Reboot, run your new driver, reboot once more and see if things are any better. I believe my next step is to report these errors to ATI and let them deal with it. Hopefully, I can maybe get a new video card out of it XD

Try rolling back your ATI drivers...

get a Nvidia videocard!

and update your drivers, if it is the right version......... boy then you have one big problem.

if after the update still nothing happened, uninstall every single video card driver and reinstall the driver

The latest ATI drivers are known to be bugged, like i said, rollback to a driver that worked. Like a version 6/7 driver.

I get the "Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9:present()" problem like once an hour.

I have a geforce 6800gt agp.

The drivers were from late 2006, updated them to latest forceware (Version 169.21, after uninstalling old ones completely), have the latest direct x, problem persists.

Any ideas?
