Basically the humans are holding out in a fortress with all magnums and a secret area, the zombies close in from all sides and players must act quick!

If I had the rights, I would trash this right now! God-???? it, it's not a map if it doesn't have a single light entity. Even my very first map ever made in Max Payne editor (MaxED) had light entity in that map.:zombo:

if I had known it'd be insulted rather than criticized then I would never have put it up, it's a [WIP] aka work in progress.

If this is your first map thats fine, everyone starts out somewhere right?
anyways it would be much better if you added a light_enviroment entity, and a few cubemaps
and to all who insulted him, take it easy folks, how is ZPS gonna ever have custom maps if every new mapper gets insulted like they did something wrong?
Nobody is forcing you to download his map ya know!
anyways good luck with mapping and google valve wiki, that wiki page valve has setup has a TON of mapping information
do alot of mapping reading on the internet, and sketch out some maps on paper
yes you read correctly, paper, i know were in the age of technology but
a plan, a pencil and a piece of paper will create the map outline, THEN you can map it, ya know?

I actually didn't want to insult or anything, but when you install SourceSDK first time it opens ValveWiki page. That's where I started learning to map for Source engine. And sorry if I did hurt you're feelings or something...

The geometry looks very Aztec so maybe go with that for a theme? The brick looks a little out of place in the middle of the desert too. Maybe put a ramp up the fort/Aztec thing alongside those steps?
As someone else pointed out add a light too. Try adding a light_env to adjust the light the skybox gives off and add a few lights or light_spots around the place.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback. That is a very quick early early screenshot, I wasn't even going to put one until I was further along, but I was following the trend of the other threads. Rest assured, it looks much better.

I have to agree to some extent with bulldog, if you are going to make a rush map, you should probably orient it with a more realistic looking map, no offense.

None of the Zombie Mod maps are realistic or scary... He probably just forgot to add lights like I do sometimes.

*sigh* To everyone who posted just to flame, please do us a favour and leave the forum and don't return. It's a work in progress. I'll bet there are a lot more details and areas of the map he didn't even take screenshots of.
I can think of one quote from a funny movie I once saw...
"Don't badmouth the cuisine before it's been served."
...I guess it's more funny in context. The "cuisine" is home-made remote-detonated explosives. ;)

I think it was just a screenshot to give people a basic idea of the map, not to show off any details yet, as those are most likely being worked on and changing constantly, so showing that would be pretty pointless. I've never made a map before so I don't know for sure, but that's what I would guess.
EDIT: Lol @ same post count

You're accurate. The map has an upstairs, a underground chamber, dark lighting, plenty of weapons and ammo and a semi-secret room. It is intended to be a fun map to play in and challenge yourself. It is not a realistic representation of a zombie infested manor, my apologies if I led you to believe so.
