Role Playing Game

It was a overcast night outside the tent. The glow of Birmingham could be seen in the distance. This day had been like many others, but there was excitement in the air. From all over the world, nations sent military representatives to Birmingham, the capitol of England.

England is hosting an international military technology show, and pretty much every country that mattered wanted in. This was a chance to show off national might to all other nations, and show the enemies of justice that they weren't afraid of them.
Terrorism had been on the rise ever since the twin tower attacks on September 11, 2001. From the anthrax attacks on Bejing's buses to the weaponization of the Ebola virus to be used by White Power extremists in Africa, things had been on the downfall. They reached a climax with the bio nuclear bomb going off in the middle of London, wiping out almost the entire city. The years that followed up to 2045 were ones of panic.

The year is now 2046, and this exhibition of military power will show everyone who wants to fight order that it can only be done at the cost of their own lives.

It is Friday night, outside of Birmingham. Most military housing for the visiting soldiers has been set up here. On what used to be a large field is now an expanse of prefab housing, tents, fuel depos, bus services, and smells of international cooking. There are numerous chain link fences topped with barbed wire criss crossing throughout the camp to keep soldiers from going past checkpoints without really checking in.

You find yourself in a very large canvass tent, with the cool ground for flooring. There are electric lights spread around the interior of the Gray green tent to keep everything bathed in a cheerful yellowish white light. Set up in the tent are a lot of tables with chatting groups of soldiers in the back, a wide wooden stage where a British band of some sort plays a calm but lively song, a table where a mess of international food sits, and a big open area in the middle where people have separated into many groups, talking about all manner of things.

Civilians have been encouraged to interact with the foreign soldiers, so everyone can get the experience of the exhibition.

You are all standing in a circle, some of you eating, drinking, or talking together. There are a few other people with you. They are Alan and Meskhenet.
Alan is a pilot from Germany. He is 30 years old, has a wife and four children, and has unkempt blond hair. He speaks English with a slight German accent, and squints whenever he tries to make a point in conversation. He is wearing a German air force uniform, which is very unadorned except for a rank insignia on the right shoulder and a strange symbol on the other shoulder. The symbol is the shape of an X with three lightning bolts hitting it in a Y shape. Many people have asked him what it meant, but he just laughed, shook his head, and made the mouth zipping gesture.

Meskhenet is a pilot from Egypt. Her black hair has been recently buzzed off, and she speaks with confidence, but lingers on E sounds when she speaks English. She insists on trying to shift the conversation subject to the possibility of another nuclear strike on a nation capitol. She is twenty four, and is wearing an Egyptian air force uniform. It has a few medals on it.

Both of them are pretty friendly.

The music playing is getting screechy and loud, and the social party will be ending in an hour or two at midnight. You are all located by the food and drink table, which in turn is by the exit. The topic of conversation for the last thirty minutes has been about the recent extinction of an obscure species of Elephant. It is very information heavy and not the most colorful thing to be talking about, all in all, it is quite dull.

(OOC: It has begun! Some of you were expecting fighting right off the bat, I bet. This isn't combat, so you can post more than once to talk. I will update on Wednesday or Thursday, or maybe tomorrow if everyone posts, and you guys are having fun. I am speaking for Meskhenet and Alan.)

Nikolai scooped up the remains of his meal with his spoon and swallowed it without chewing.

All I need in life are bullets and borscht.

He walked over to a trashcan to throw away his plate. While walking his eyes scanned the area, there were many colorful uniforms. This was exciting for Nikolai, he had rarely been outside the Motherland, and he had never been to Great Britian. Something then caught his eye. It was a man, but it wasn't just any ordinary man...that mustache was unmistakable.

"COMRADE STALIN!" Nikolai boomed as a grin spread over his face. He ran to the man, bowling over everyone in the way; he quickly grabbed the man's arm and shook it vigorously. He would have pulled it off if he had not stopped himself and start to talk excitedly.

"I am, I am overjoyed to meet you! This is glorious day!"

While somewhere in the far reaches of his mind, a thought came up.

I wonder if I'm making a scene. I would like to watch if I was.

I didnt roll initative because, well, there is no fighting or anything like that at all.

I saw a guy running across the room, almost pushing me over to someone else. When he stood in front of him, he shook his arm so hard the other man's body shook along. I yelled You guys are happy to see each other! And drank the last of my wine. I spotted some guy I had seen earlier, and started a conversation.

"Pray, excuse me, but I have buisness to attend to", Robert says to the group in general. D**n, this conversation is boring.

Without further ado, Robert picks up a flyer, and begins to read it.

((OOC:Wait!
Why are you rolling initiative when initiative is used to determine the order of combat? You certainly aren't fighting, so cut it out. There also isn't need to color all the his's, he's, I's, and stuff. Only your name and speech. I'd recommend editing your posts. You don't have to write about going over the the group of player characters because you started in a group, by the way.))

Alan watched passively as the large Russian man ran across the room, knocking a few people out of the way, to shake the hand of someone who obviously wasn't Stalin. He turned to the rest of the people that were still in the circle and attempted to change the topic of conversation. "That man, Nikolai--I think it was--is pretty drunk. I need to do the same." Alan smiled, and finished his paper cup that had some sort of alcoholic beverage in it.

Nong watched the scene with mild interest. He sits quitely, observing the scene, secretly hoping that someone would come talk to him.

Very late for the party, Daniel finally showed up after a flat tire and subsequent walking. He never would trust those red double-decker buses. Or those phone booths.

Mildly worn-out, Daniel grabbed a few snacks and drinks from the table then walked around a bit, staying away from the awful music.

Things were looking bad. People had taken notice of what he was doing, some soldiers had started to point and laugh. Why is everyone angry? Why is everyone pointing at me? Nikolai started to panic. Why is everyone angry at me? He turned around a clumsily made his way back to his original group, confused by everything going on around him. I will go stay with elephant people. Everyone seemed to be against him. He fished into his pocket, took out a bottle of vodka and drank deeply for reassurance, leaving the bottle half empty. He screwed the cap back on, and then stuffed it into one of his pockets.

"Hehe, he sure is big, though I love his attitude." Ben said with a smile on his face, drinking up the last drip of his soft drink.

Meskhenet nudged Ben and walked over to Nikolai. Barely containing laughter, she said, "I'm sorry large man, but Stalin has beeeen deeead for nineteey threeee yeeears.

[The Hilarity]

Nikolai's eyes widened. "That man...is imposter?" He turned around and roared, "THAT MAN IS IMPOSTER!" Nikolai was relieved that the real Stalin wasn't angry at him. "I must inform Stalin of the imposter!" he exclaimed to everyone, and started to inquire about a hot phone that would call up Stalin instantly.

[Cliffball]

As Nikolai came around to ask Nong about such a phone, Nong said, with a little fear in his voice, "Calm down, Stalin is D-E-A-D. Why don't you sit down and have something to eat?"

[Elitewolf]

Awww, dont be so harsh on him.
I turn toards the large man and tell him there are plenty of world leaders who are like Stalin. Why else would we all be here?

Crazy russian's been hitting his drink too much

Dwayne chuckled to himself, as he watched Nicholai's antics.

Still chuckling Dwayne shook his head and turned to Alan and asked "where can I get what hes drinking!?"

That?s how people act when they are drunk, luckely I don?t drink.

"You guys should stop drink?ng alcohol, it just makes good people bad" Ben said, thinking of his alcohol abusing father, who is dead.

[Scruffy]

Dwayne

Dwayne gave Ben a comically perplexed look, "woah calm down captain killjoy" Dwayne said jovialy but Ben didnt look impressed.

hell with him Dwayne thought while getting himself another drink.

[Ion]

"Apparently," Alan said, "He gets what he's drinking from his pockets.." He pointed at the bottle of vodka.

[Kolar]

Dickie entered the tent examining his new toy. Always getting lost isn't vary fun (especially in combat). At the smell of food Dickie pocketed the GPS and filed a plate. While eating he introduced himself to anyone who seemed to care.

[Ion]

As soon as someone walked in the tent, an American soldier could be seen talking in a loud voice and pointing at the screechy loud source of music to a smallish round man. The little man was shaking his head, but then frowned and nodded. He went up on stage.

The band stopped playing. He grabbed one of the microphones that the band was using. "I'm sorry for the interruption, but Twenty Quid has other arrangements and must leave now." The drum player looked confused, but then with a look from the lead guitarist, he put his hand to his forehead. "Twenty Quid" left with their instruments and audio equipment. with the small man. Most people in the tent seemed to ease up and talk more freely.

The Russian man didn't seem to notice the music stopped. He was becoming more drunk by the second.

(OOC:Elitewolf, You are red, not dark red. Dark red is already taken by Boromeer, and you certainly aren't talking for him.)

The effects of the alcohol were now taking full effect, and Nikolai was thoroughly drunk. Nikolai turned to Joe and said, "yes, it's right. There was Lenin...socialist heroooo..." His speech now started to slur. "And that ooother maan. Thaat small maan. Comraaade...Khrushchev?" A pronounced look of perplexity appeared on his face. Seeming to have forgotten what he had just said, Nikolai then moved over to Ben with a heavy gait. He slung his arm around his shoulder and faced him. His breath carried the hard scent of alcohol as he spoke, "Georgiy, tell me again about farm."

These are nice people.

Good thing they left. That music, if you could call it that, was giving me a headache.

Nong looks at Nikolai.

I need to be more outgoing...and clueless...like that guy.

Robert shifts ever so slightly in his seat. I guess stupid people have to exist, too. He picks up another flyer, and begins to thumb through it.

[Cliffball]

I'm tired of waiting for someone to come and talk to me. Nikolai looks amiable. Maybe I should strike up a conversation with him.

Nong finally gets up out of his chair and walks twoard Nikolai, a little hesitant.

"Hey, its Nikolai, right?"

(OOC: acker, I believe that the only thing in color should be your name, ambiguous pronouns, what your character says, and what your character thinks. Your whole post shouldn't be in color.)

[The Hilarity]

Nikolai turned toward Nong and said heartily, "ahh, little man!" He slapped him on the back and handed him a can of beer from a nearby table. "Tell meee comraaade, what dooo you think of explosions?" Nikolai felt at his pockets. "Eer, where did vodka go?" His hands unknowingly ran over the bottle several times. He seemed to sober up as a panicked look grew on his face.

I smiled at the panicked look on the man's face, who was to drunk to notice the bottle. Bringing my love for my fellow humans to extreme heights for me,I pulled the bottle out of his pocket (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1075553) and handed it to him(This is really more a try at how to use links and stuff. I added my stealth to the roll.)
Look, I can do magic I said, and teased him a bit by waving my hand in front of his face while he stumbled back, and then headed off to get some stronger stuff, so this dull party might become fun.

Although the fact that the band was gone was a relief. Did the play baaaad.

Elite, you can't control other's reactions to your actions. That's my job, or in this case, The Hilarity's job.

It is unnecessary to roll for such little things like pulling a bottle of vodka secretly away from someone, in a non combat scenario. Unless they care. Then they might stop you. The Hilarity (Nikolai) is drunk, so he would have failed a perception check anyway. Rolling is unneeded but you did it correctly.

Thirty seconds after the music stops playing, something seems to change in the atmosphere. Nong feels a prickly sensation run down his spine. Meskhenet sees him visibly shiver, and almost makes a comment when she and everyone (OOC: with a perception higher than 6) around her notices Alan.

His skin has become very pale, and he is visibly shaking. His mouth moves and no words come out. He drops his plate and cup, which fall soundlessly to the grassy floor. Alan's left arm rises to his chest while the other simply hangs loosely. He begins to collapse to the ground.


What do you do?

[The Hilarity]

"Ahh, thank you sorcerer!" Nikolai said, taking the bottle from Joe. He took a drink from the bottle and then brought up his arm, inhaling through his sleeve to preserve the sting of the vodka for a moment longer. Only after doing that does he notice that everyone is staring at Alan, and turns around to do so himself.

"What is the matter, comrade?"

(OOC: Everyone else has a perception of 6+ except me, so I assume that everyone else already turned around.)

[Cliffball]

Taken by the surprise of such a sudden change, Nong drops the beer, without even have taken a sip, and rushes to Alan's side, ready to do what's nessecary.

Nong hurriedly assesses Alan's medical condition (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1076040).

"Ben, we need an expert's opinion. What do you think of this?"

[Kolar]

Dickie looks up at the commotion and asks "What's going on?" through a mouth full of food.

[Ion]

Alan is now laying on the ground. Nong can feel a shallow breath coming from Alan's nose. When he checks for a pulse, he finds that Alan's heart has stopped. Alan is unconscious.

Some others in the tent have noticed, and have started to come over.

[Cliffball]

"Okay, Alan seems to be unconscious. He doesn't have a pulse, but he's still breathing."

Nong eyes the approaching crowd.

"Don't come too close, give him some room."

"Ben, " Nong said, completely calm, "you might want to take it from here, I believe a professional is needed."

"Wait...Nikolai...what are you...!!"

[The Hilarity]

Nikolai's widened at Nong's words. "Not...breathing..." Nikolai sobered up from this news. Without thinking, he flew to Alan and started to pound on his chest in an attempt to revive him. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1076446)

Ben walked over to Alan?s body. No, no Nikolai! STOP IT! Ben examined Alan.
He must have been poisioned! I don?t have the equipment I need for this one, we need to get him to the hospital!

I should have taken all my syringes and bandages to the party, I didn?t expect this, someone must have posioned him. We?ll probably loose this one and it?s all on my concious, as always.

Well, so much for a dull party...

Stop eating!!! Perhaps more food is poisoned!
I point at Nikolai and yell at him to grab Alan's (What? upper body?) and grab Alan's legs.
If we get him to a hospital or sick bay they can probably help him!

Hmm? What's going... Oh boy...

Daniel, hearing the suggestion about getting him to a hospital or sick bay then they can probably help him. "Someone call 911, or whatever it is you use here! Get an ambulence!" Daniel said, running for an elevator so they could get the sick party-goer to ground level and holding the door open for them.

They seem to have the situation under control.

Robert picks up a couple plastic cups, and puts food samples into each cup.

Then, he uses a phone to call the emergency # of the region. "Err...you can probably track my location, so why bother with that. We have a person that has stopped breathing, presumably due to heart attack or poison. Please station an EMT outside the complex I am calling from."

Robert tosses his first aid kit to Ben.

He then stands right next to the exit, noting the people who exit the building.

[Ion]

Either through brilliance or sheer luck, Alan revives after the first few chest pounds. He regains conciousness and Nikolai stops adminstering the "CP." He looks wildly around from the ground.

[Elitewolf]

Well Ill be ????ed....

I let go of Alans legs and walk to Nikolai
Well done I say, as I pat him on the shoulder.

[The Hilarity]

Nikolai stopped administering the "Chest Pounds" after Alan woke up.

"He is alive! HE IS ALIVE!" Nikolai shouts happiley and loud enough for everyone in the surrounding area to hear. He gets to his feet and lifts Alan up by his shoulders, his feet dangling above the gound. "He is alive!" he shouts, and starts to shake Alan. After a bit of shaking, he places Alan on his feet and speaks, "Congratulations for living comrade," Nikolai grabs a loaf of bread from a nearby table, "here, eat some bread comrade. You deserve it!"

"He won't be alive much longer if you keep it up, Nikolai! He could still be sick!"

[Garson]

Ben walks to Alan. Here, take these pills and you?ll feel alot better.


((OOC: I dunno if I should roll here)))

((OOC: I don't know where you got those pills... If you had pills, giving them to someone would not require a roll. It needs no skills.))

Alan dusted himself off, his face in a grimace of pain. When someone inquired if his heart hurt, he laughed and said, "No, only the rest of my body around it." He grew melancholy and his green eyes grew wide. He looked around nervously. "I could have sworn... No..." He grew silent with a worried expression on his face.

Ben can see that some of Alan's ribs are cracked from the way he is standing. Being a doctor, he can actually do something about the broken bones, like wrap them up tight in cloth, or just say, "I attempt to help Alan with his injuries"

(OOC: Just a small hint. There won't be any more of these hints. I'm assuming you guys learned your lesson. :) )

"Wow, you guys, what's wrong with you? The only person who attempted to physically help was Nikolai, who could have killed him in the process. None of you even tried CPR; you only called the EMS, who could have taken a while to get here. And you believe a drunk guy saying 'Not...breathing...', and not me who was telling you he had a breath, but no pulse. "

"Robert, save thoes food samples, we should analyze them later. Could be an assasin with poison...who knows?"

Nong notices Alan's worried look. He can tell that something is bothering Alan, who seemed to have some sort of flashback. "And Robert, also, read back the people you noted exiting the tent to Alan. It might ring a bell to some past adversary, or other. Perhaps we can help."

Exasperated, Nong walks away and twoard Nikolai.

"Good job, man. This still doesn't make me believe in luck, though." Nong snickers.

[Ion]

Robert says he didn't see anyone leave.

Just getting that out of the way. Otherwise, Robert would have to say that he said that and I would have to post this after his post so it is actually saving time and energy for me to say this now.

[Cliffball]

"Well, that didn't really help."

"Hey, Alan, you look a little worried. What's wrong?"

[Ion]

"I got a feeling... Just before I fell..." His tone of voice changed to light hearted, and he started to squint. He talked more rapidly than usual. "Maybe I should go to the hospital. Who has an automobile? Let's not trouble the emergency medical service" Alan suggested hastily.

(OOC: Robert and Dwayne [I'll never get over that joke] have cars. You may choose what type; however, you know the limits on what you may be driving. Base it on your character's salary. There is no fuel shortage thanks to hydrogen powered autos, so fuel inefficiency is no problem. The rest of you walked here or took a bus.)

"Dwayne, could you drive? As of yet, I only have a permit. Also, I have collected samples of the foodstuffs closest to the victim before he was incapacitated. Can someone test the foodstuffs for poison? And, of course, we should get the names of everybody here.

Fine. nevermind." Robert tosses his keys to Alan. Could someone take him to the hospital? Though, frankly, I would rather have the EMT help him in case of after effects or shock. And, of course, since this is a major event, this convention is, they should have a medical ward of some sort around here. My vote goes to the EMT."

Robert tosses the flyers to Alan, and continues to watch the exit.

Ben walked over to Alan, bringing the medkit with him.

Here you go. Ben started to wrap bandage around Alan's chest.

Not cretin how to help, Dickie jest stood to the side and continued to eat.

(Yeah ive been away from home the past couple of days so i havent been able to post)

Man why does this always happen! Whenever I try to socalise someone ends up nearly dead and I end up driving them to the hospital! bah!

"Sure, I can drive him to the hospital if you want" Dwayne said to the room before quickly finishing off his drink.

"Y'know, I bet most of the people here aren't fit to drive from all the drinking. Don't ask me to, though... I'm not the best driver here..." Daniel rambled.

[acker]

No one bothered to listen...ah, well. K. Robert takes his keys back. "I guess Dwayne's driving."

[Ion]

Ben treats Alan's broken ribs by wrapping them up tight. He gets a lot of gauss from a little first aid station under the table with all the food on top of it, after someone so helpfully pointed it out. The pressure helps, and Alan is back to 0 wound levels, as long as the bandages are on. After being bandaged up, Alan takes a bite out of his bread that Nikolai provided. It seems to calm him down. "Let's go now. Whoever wants to come should." is all he says.

Most of the people that had gathered around have left back to the party when they saw everything was OK.

Two of the military police that were inside the tent have their radios out and have moved over to a corner of the tent. Nong can pick out some of the words being spoken into the radios over the sounds around him. Why? What's going on? One of the MP's looks at the other. They both look worried. They put down their radios and speak too softly for Nong to hear anymore. They are too far away. Others see this, but do not hear the words.

[The Hilarity]

"Yes! Let us leave!" says Nikolai. He picks up Alan and is now carrying him with both of his arms.

[Ion]

"Put me down! Nein, Nein!!!" Alan yells. A few people run up to Nikolai to get him to put down the German man.

[acker]

Robert scans the crowd for suspicious behavior.

[The Hilarity]

Nikolai places Alan back on his feet. "Ahh, so you want to walk than comrade? Good!"

[Kolar]

Hearing people taking of driving Dickie is slow to respond from swallowing to fast. "Gaa, I'm a good driver."

[Cliffball]

Nong, upon seeing the MP's radios, pulls out his radio, and starts to surf frequencies, trying to pick up the messages that the two MP's are getting.

[Garson]

Well then, I believe I?ll stay here, incase something else happends.

Ben walked to Dwayne and told him what he should say to the people at the hospital.

((OOC: Just so Dwayne can say directly to the doctors what has happened so they can help him quicker))

[Scruffy]

Dwayne listened to Ben carefully, making sure he wouldn't forget what he was saying before they got to the hospital.

"Okay whoever wants to go to the hospital come with me" Dwayne announced swinging his car keys round his index finger cooly while he headed to the tent flap.

[Cliffball]

"I'll come, just after I check these radio frequencies. Give me a second." Nong said.

[Ion]

Nong stumbles upon a frequency. He hears someone yelling over the radio. Everyone around him can hear as well. "I repeat, these orders are top priority! Military police units should begin the evacuation of all non-combat personnel from Birmingham immediately, head East or South. We have come under attack by an unidentified army! I repeat, these orders are top priority!" The message keeps looping until Nong flips the frequency back to static.

"Then let's take two cars" is all Alan says. The silence is broken. All of the people begin charging out of the tent, a shouting of voices drowns the quiet out of the air. All of you are forced with them outside. The crowd dissipates, some going to the parking lot, others going to the rest of the military housing complex. One man (He looks pretty drunk) starts to climb the barbed wire fence across the dirt street. Meskhenet is nowhere to be seen. She probably went with her Egyptian army unit.

(OOC: The Hilarity might want to edit his post. He wouldn't have to be swept outside with everyone else because he is so big, but I think he would go with the other players anyway.)

Nikolai just stood in place as the sea of people flowed out of the tent, like a boulder in the middle of a stream. People were getting pushed around past him as he stood, trying to understand what was going on.

Everyone is running. I will run also!

Nikolai started to run, oblivious to all of the tables and people he was knocking out of the way. After a bit of running, he soon found himself back with the original group.

"Comrades, let us run around. It is good fun!" He said with a goofy smile when he caught up with them.

He obviously did not understand the radio transmission.

[Garson]

Ben ran over to Dwayne.

"It seems like I?m coming after all, now where?s your car?"

After asking the question Nikolai joined. "Comrades, let us run around. It is good fun!"

"There?s an emergency, we need to get to the cars quick!" Ben said to Nikolai, trying to keep it short.

"Shotgun!"

"Looks like I'm riding in the back."

[The Hilarity]

Nikolai's smile transformed into his "angry face" at the words "emergency" and "shotgun"

"Where...WHERE!" He shouted as he readied himself to combat the nonexistent foe.

[Ion]

Alan patted Nikolai on the side and told him to calm down, then started jogging in the direction of the parking lot. Alan said, "We don't have much time. Let's go," as he left. He made a beckoning gesture to the people (OOC: Ok, so there are more people than there are letters in "people.") behind him while still moving forward.

[Kolar]

Dickie fallowed Alan

Robert follows Alan, too.

Nikolai settled himself down. "No danger here?" He looked around.

Oh, we are not running. We are following!

"Let us then follow walking man comrades! Come on little man and sorcerer, let us follow! Is fun!"

Nikolai seems captivated by a bumble bee that has been buzzing around his head for awhile. He continuously turns his head so that he can watch the bee, as the others speak among themselves.

"Then lets drive south! Come on!"

You arrive at the parking lot to find that most people have left by now. There are still a few cars here. There is one British land rover wolf with green and black camouflage. It must be forty years old, by the look of it. It has been parked over two spaces, a hasty arrival, by the looks of it. There isn't anyone inside. There is an American Hummer Mrk 2 here as well--it is painted with scatter urban camouflage. A red ford pickup truck and a smallish black SUV are parked here. The ford pickup belongs to Robert, and the black SUV belongs to Dwayne.

Everyone can hear the faint sounds of explosions in the distance. By the looks of things, parts of Birmingham are on fire in the distance. The orange glow looks out of place in the overcast night. A trio of Warrior III IFVs follow the rumble of a Challenger 3 main battle tank past the parking lot on the other side of the barbed wire fence, a pair of attack choppers fly a few hundred feet above them. They are all heading to Birmingham. The guard in the checkpoint booth looks stressed out. He is holding a assault rifle of some sort and a radio, and constantly scans the area around him. The portable street lights have been turned off.

Dickie briefly wishes he was in that Challenger, then realises it going towar the fighting. He runs up the closest vehicle who?s owner is with him and says "I'll drive."

Once again, Robert tosses the keys to Dickie. "So, where are we headed to?"

"Wherever there are guns for us."
Dickie whated for all the seats to fill up and the yeld at Nikolai to get on the bed.

"Wait, first, let's try and get at least some armament in case we hit trouble. We should try and convince that guard to give us his gun. Someone go talk to him, I'm not good with people..." Nong says. "Or, we can tap into his radio frequency and convince him to leave (without his gun)."

Daniel went to the hastily-parked camoflauged car. It was incredibly out-of-place: The war's that way, buster!, very out-dated for modern warfare, hastily parked... It could have something to do with the assassin...

He memorized its license plate code, camoflauge pattern, and color scheme in case of further investigation of the assassin. He memorized the Hummer's characteristics also, just in case... Also.:dry:

"Right behind yo- wait, no I'm not. I called 'Shotgun.'" He said, running to catch up.

"Err...if anyone needs it, I have a pellet gun and ammo in the glove compartment, a first aid kit in under the shotgun seat, and a repair kit under the driver's seat. Oh, yeah," Robert points to the back of the shotgun seat, "Daniel, if you want, there's a radio right there to tune into."

Robert Hops into his truck (passenger's seat). I still can't believe that I left my ordnance at home...and my two way radio set pair.

"COMRADE GUARD! LEND US YOUR KALASHNIKOV?" He bellows.

Nikolai climbs into the bed of the pickup. The truck visible sinks several inches as he climbs in.

"We go to Stalingrad, comrades!"

"Wait! Who is driving the SUV? Both cars should be taken in case one car is disabled!"

Dickie try?s to think of a place close by where he could get a gun (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1083825). Or better yet a tank!

When Daniel Topeka goes over to the military vehicles to inspect them, he notices that the old land rover has a very suspicious wooden box with a lock on the lid, on the inside of the old car. The box is in the front seat, driver side (Right side in England). It is a cubic meter in size.

Unfortunately, Dickie could not think of where to get a gun. Maybe the guard had a sidearm. While distracted with his thoughts, Alan snatched the keys to the truck away from him. "Dickie, you drive the SUV. I can't bear driving in that civilian monstrosity. You'll follow me, OK? Everyone decide what car you are going in, now."

The guard turns at Nikolai's words and manages a nervous smile, but dives to the ground as a large explosion goes off about one kilometer west. The explosion seems to have obliterated the road... And the three IFVs and the tank that were on it. A sizzling heat is felt overhead, and from a hill to the southwest, a large Cromwell microwave tank glows in the night as it fires into the sky. A pop is heard and a fireball the size of a basketball field falls out of the air, into the field to the North-West. The wreckage is unidentifiable.

"We have to go soon" Alan says nervously.

"**** It!" Robert runs over to Dickie and tugs his sleeve. "We are going to be screwed if we stay here!"

Ben walks to the pickup truck and sat down in the front seat.

"Yeah glad I weren't in their." Dickie mumbles, then he dashes to the SUV yelling "Keys!".

Joey had been wondering for some time if he should pickpocket the guard, but with all the explosions, he decided it didnt matter. He ran to the land rover, jumps into the bed and yells Lets get outta here!!!

Robert goes to Daniel. He shouts, "Excuse me, but unless something needs to be done, we have to go now!"

Okay first things first Dwayne is not an SUV kinda guy okay, hes more of a

Dwayne gave Dickie a comically perplexed look

"You, keys? No way, noone drives my baby but me. Plus I barely know you! you think I let just anybody drive Bessie?"

Dwayne than jumped into the driving seat and started her up.

As the rest of the group got into the various vehicles Dwayne listened intently to the sound of combat and explosions nearby.

???? what the hells going on?

"Guys I really dont want to be dead by the end of the day so can we hurry up here!"

(OOC: If you wanted me to know more about your character, you should have filled out the character survey. The SUV is now an old van, about the same size. Elitewolf, do you mean you jumped into the back of the pickup? Because the land rover wolf is not Robert's car.)

Dickie got in the passenger side of the van. He seemed edgy, and looked ready to grab the wheal at a moments notes.

Nong squeezes into the trunk space. "I don't mind being cramped. It seems Nikolai is going to cause a seating crisis anyways."

Daniel got in the passenger seat of the truck(not the land rover.).

And then he told everyone about the mysterious box.

"Box? Box?"

Nikolai climbed out of the bed and ran to the land rover.

"Ahh! Box!" He said, jabbing at the window with his thick finger.

Robert reaches underneath the driver's seat, pulls out a tire iron and a rather bulky black box, runs to the car (the one with the box), and hands the tire iron to Nikolai.

"Nikolai, please break the window without wrecking the car. And, if possible, snap off the lock on the box with the iron. If that thing is a bomb..."

Robert sets down his repair kit, and begins to rummage through it.

[The Hilarity]

"OK!"

Nikolai grabs the tire iron from Robert. He then raises his leg and shoves his foot through the driver side window. He pulls his foot out of the shattered window and gives the tire iron back. Nikolai takes the box from the car and tries to pull off the lid from the hinged side.

(OOC: It's a wooden box, shouldn't be that difficult. I also wouldn't be surprised if I got hurt, but hey, that's what Nikolai does.)

Nong looks up out of the trunk window and watches Nikolai's episode.

He then looks into the distance in the north, and watches the fire's glowing aura on the horizon. Nong shouts as loud as he can, in an attempt to have Nikolai hear him, "Nikolai, you might want to work on that box into the car. We should get moving..."

Dwayne watched Nicholai struggling with the box

My god, im going to die because of a drunk russian and a box held me up in a warzone...I did not see that coming

"Yeah Nicholai listen to clever Nong, you can open the box while we're driving"

"The glass won't cut Nikolai. It's car glass, designed not to cut you if get wrecked... I still think it would've been better to use the tire iron. Does that car even have an alarm?"

"Could someone search through that car (one with the box)? We might get lucky and find weapons or equipment."

There is a resounding *snap* as the metal lock on the box breaks off. The wooden box is hastily opened. Inside, there are some... Strange items.

There is a boquet of roses sitting on top of a WWI gas mask. There is a card attatched to the roses. There is some writing on it. There is an extremely old German made STG 44. It looks to have been recently made. It has been modified to fire 7.63 mm nato rounds. There is an ammo drum attatched to the underside of the old style weapon. It has a complex looking scope attatched. There are buttons on the scope. The buttons have gibberish written on them. There are several unidentifiable features on the weapon. It appears to be able to shoot single rounds, two round bursts, three round bursts, five round bursts, and full auto, and half auto. At least, that's what it looks like. The wood stock has been painted with a dark red camoflauge pattern. This also has a note attatched to it. Under those, there is a black sphere with many wires attatched to a timer. The timer reads 1 minute. It counts down 1 every second. There is 55 seconds left on the timer.

It does not take an expert to see that it is a bomb. It looks just like the type of nuclear bomb thought to have destroyed London. The wires are all exposed, so it shouldn't take too much to disable it.

Wanting to see what exactley is in the box for himself, Daniel ran over and inspected it. Grabbing the weapons, mask, cards, pretty much everything that wasn't the bomb in the box, he said"Uh-oh... We might be able to defuse it with with that repair kit. Or Superman could show up and throw it into the sun. Whoever's good with this kind of stuff, get going." He took the miscellany that was in the box and put it in the bed of the truck, looked for the repair kit that was mentioned and brought it to the bomb.

"55 seconds and counting."

Dwayne looked over "Theres a bomb?! God ???? this day keeps getting better an better! Well I used to fix cars a while back... and cars and bombs are kinda the same the thing so I could have a go at it if noone objects"

"Just defuse it, we don?t have time for votes and democracy." Ben said with an irritated voice.

Joey was starting to get more and more panicked: Who cares about voting, Dwayne!!! Just defuse the ????ed up thing before it ????s US up!!!!

Dwayne switchs the vans engine off and gets out of Bessie.

Grabbing his belt and lifting it up a bit Dwayne makes his way over to the bomb. He closely examines it remembering his days as a mechanic and the work he did with car electrics.

"s??t." He gets out and jogs off to the check point where the guard is "they'll have to come this why to leave the lot anyway."

Robert, hands the repair kit to Dwayne, and attempts to defuse the bomb (in other words, assists Dwayne).

Oh, yeah...I have +8 Science and Demolitions skills (just the raw bonus for these skills, without stat mods).

Nikolai, with box in hand, goes over to truck and starts to place everything back in. Going through the items, he finds the cards. "What is this?" Looks like Cyrillic, but the person writing it must have been drunk! He walked to Alan. "Do you understand this, walking comrade?" he says, jabbing at the English letters on the card.

"Yeah, what's it say? 'If you're reading this, you'll die in two seconds,'?" He said jokingly. "Of course, that very well could be the case if that bomb went off..."

Robert steps to the side of Dwayne, just as he is going to cut a wire. Seeing that Dwyane knows nothing of explosives at all, Robert steps in (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1086697). Red wire is most likely the link to the timer. Don't cut that. The blue wire is most likely a fake out, judging from where it connects to the sphere. Cutting it would set off the bomb. The yellow wire, however, looks like the one. Robert gets a pair of scissors out of the repair kit and snips the wire. Everyone around his inhales as he does so. A blinding flash accompanied by a roaring thunder is the last anyone hears... Before it cuts out to this music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Sui7st2q0). (OOC: Couldn't find a link to just the music, so I decided to find an appropriate video to go along with it.) The lights on the old land rover wolf are blinking on and off. They are very bright. The music drowns out all other noise

It appears that the time bomb was a flash bang disguised as a nuclear weapon. The wire that should have disabled it was actually the wire that would set it off, as part of its design, Robert thinks.

Everyone that was directly around the crate is stunned for several seconds. Alan calls out over the Yackety Sax. "Stop fooling around and get into a car! I heard something coming from Birmingham, and I don't think it's one of the British Army's tanks!" He then turned to Nikolai and pulled the pieces of paper out of his hands. "Nikolai, this is English, not Cyrillic..." The british comedy music cuts out suddenly. Alan looks around then continues.

'The note on the flowers says, 'Roses are red, some aren't red, these are for you. If you are reading this, have fun with the rest of your minute. Respectfully, Captain Soban.' The note on the STG says, 'For all the help you gave me when I needed it most. Like at Cararlo.' Cararlo... Ever heard of it? It's underlined... This guy probably thought someone else would be stumbling on this crate. It makes no sense at all.'

'Why would someone put a fake nuclear bomb in the same box as flowers and a gun with a barrel drum... We can think about this later. Get in the cars now. I'm driving the pickup." Alan hops into the driver's seat of the red pickup truck. He turns on the engine The headlights activate, piercing through the darkness.

Still grousing about the mishap, Robert gathers up his gear, picks up the box, throws the box into the pickup bed, and stows his stuff in its respective spots.

"Could someone ransack that car for spare gear? It might contain guns for all we know."

Robert gets into the passenger seat of the pickup.

Nikolai climbed back into the bed. He pulled out the STG 44 from the box and threw it to the person who looked like they could use it best. He then patted the top of the truck. "Let us go!"

Heart rate still elevated from the evil practical joke, Nong shouts from his trunk, "Come on guys, let's get this van moving. Follow that truck!"

"By the way, we still need to decide where we're going..."

Dwayne smiling smugly walks away from the fake bomb

Dwayne gets back into his van ( OCC, SUV for all you people who refuse to believe dwayne owns a van) and starts her up.

Alan calls out from the truck. "I have a plan. Just follow me when we pull out."

"My heart stopped for a second there..." Daniel said, now listening to Yakety Sax. He grabbed the pistol and made sure it was ready to go, keeping its safety on. He got into the passenger seat of the truck.

Nong pokes him, attempting to get a response.

Alan yells from the driver's wheel of the pickup. "Everyone ready to go?" (OOC: This is a yes/no question)

"Yeah, let's get out of here before any more crazy stuff happens. Of course, I do like Yakety Sax... Where was that coming from anyways? Maybe it wasn't a flash-bang grenade, but rather a flash-band grenade... You know, this is why you need a license to make puns." Daneil rambled.

"AAhhhh hell yea" Dwayne said strumming his fingers impatiently on Bessies steering wheel.

Dwayne chuckled and said "Dan that was so bad you make me look funny"

Robert pulls out the pellet gun and loads it. He then replaces the weapon in its original place.

Robert moves to the truck bed.

"Let's go."

"Yeah let's go."

Nong proceeds to check the contents of the box, examining each item closely for anything suspicious.

Nong finds nothing, except that the gas mask boggles him. Nong was never good with gadgetry. The only other thing to check would be the STG 44, but Joe has that, and he just hopped into the right middle seat of the van. (Yeah, sorry Elite, but I want to get you guys on the road.)

Alan signaled to Robert, and he put up the small barrier at the rear end of the truck that would keep people from rolling out of the bed. Robert sat down, so did Nong. He set the box aside, for now. Alan pulled out, and put his hand outside the window to gesture to Dwayne to come along. The sound of the van's engine coming to life was somewhat pained, but the lights turned on and it followed.

The pickup went up to the checkpoint. The guard turned out not to be a he, but a her. She walked out of the small guard booth and knocked on the window of the pickup. Alan rolled the window down. Ben leaned back so Alan could have a clear line of sight to the guard. She was a brit, by the sound of her accent. She shouldered her weapon, and slung a black duffel bag over her shoulder.. It was an O-10, a 7.63 mm smg. It looked like a cross between an old P-90 and the even older. Thomson Sub Machine Gun, but packed more of a punch ."I just got orders to evac my station. Since you are the last ones leaving, I need to come with you. The enemy will over run this position soon." Alan shrugged and pointed back to the van. "Hop in there. This thing is full." She jogged over around the van and climbed in the left door. She spoke to the inhabitants of the van, Dwayne, Joe, and Dickie. "The name's Alison. My friends call me Alley. I'm going to be riding with you until we get out of here." She buckled her seatbelt.

Alan drove straight north, and Dwayne followed, wondering why they were going towards the fighting. He hoped Alan did have a plan. They drove on a wide street that cut through the prefab housing. It was quick going, the place was abandoned.

Robert reaches through the back window of his truck, and turns on the radio.

"Whoever is in the front, please flip through the frequencies for information on this...conflict."

[Kolar]

This was all wrong, there going to wrong way. These aren't tanks, and he's not driving! Dickie didn't like this at all, he started scanning the side of the road. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1089603)

(Kolar, there is really nothing to add to rolls like that. Just say you scan the road. I will factor in your stats to tell you what you see. It's not like your eyes stop working for a second when you try to look out at something... Well, they might.)

Dickie sees many abandoned prefab structures go by. There is no one in sight. He spots an overturned hummer. It looks like they hit a bump going way to fast and crashed. There is no one in the wreck.

Alan dials the radio a bit. All the local channels are static. So are the bigger channels. There is a radio station that is giving a emergency alert, but then proceeds to say that if this was actually an emergency, it would have been followed with instructions. He hits one station that seems to be advising all civilians and noncoms to evacuate Birmingham. Everything after that doesn't really have much value. The radio announcer says that the nuclear weapons probably have already been launched, and that everyone should get to shelter and start praying. The channel cuts out to static. Alan shouts to Nong. "Give someone that radio and get a link between us and that guard back there. She has a radio. We should maintain contact between the vehicles."

Well, were screwed, if there's really nuke's in the air. Best to take the newsreaders advice and become a believer. By the way Alison, nice to meet you. Always nice to meet other people.
*folds hands in a mockery of praying and silently rants about killing those crazy world leaders who are so determined to exterminate humanity.*

Daniel made sure his hands were free to wring Alan's neck in a surprise attack from behind if they were being led into a trap. "Where are we going anyways?"

Ah man... Is this a British car? 'Cause then the driver's side is on the right. Thanks for pointing that out to me, myself. No problem.

Nong tosses his radio to Robert. "You could probably use it better than I can anyways. Try and connect with Alison's radio in the other car."

Robert attempts to use his survival radio to connect to the guard back at the exhibition.

Robert succeeds (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1091016) in getting a radio connection with Alison in the following car. She answers the radio, and tells everyone in her car that they have a link to the pickup truck.

The prefab housing has been left behind. You are now driving through the countryside. A forest of trees grow on either side of the two lane road.

Nong casually looks over the truck bed. He watches the darkening brush zoom by into a blur. The glowing aura of the firey north remains. To Nong, it is an ominous sign of the events that might be coming.

Hmm...

Nong attempts to find a comfortable position for the ride, and finally settling on a position, he tries to start some small talk with Robert. "Pretty weird sequence of events this evening, hm? And to think, just a while ago we were partying carelessly, talking about endanered elephants." He snickers and looks up at the sky.

"I really wouldn't know. I was reading at the party.
Flashbangs, nukes, and assault rifles...all in all, an interesting day.
This would be a very good place for an ambush. And I hope that we don't run out of gas.

Robert continues to operate (listen to) the radio.

Alan doesn't answer Daniel. He is silent and has a ominous expression on his face.

Everyone in the pickup's cab notices that there is a man standing in the middle of the road with his hand held in a stopping signal. He appears to be in the British Army. He looks very tattered and worn. He holds a menacing looking auto-pump shotgun. Alan brings the pickup to a halt about thirty feet from the man. The van stops behind him.

Robert is relaying this information to the people in the van.

"I was about to say something about heading into a combat zone unarmed when we should be evacuating, but I thought we were going to turn around. Looks like the army will do the turning for us. At least something good is happening today," Alison says.

[Cliffball]

"What, who said I played Ragnarok? That game got old about 30 years ago, in 2016. I play Starcraft 5..." Nong told Robert.

I'm not going to collect the pieces from all over the thread of your one move to put it together. I'm updating tomorrow with the combat round. But if you change your rolls in any way shape or form, you and I won't be happy. So don't do it. You know who you are. And I know what you are doing. We use dice so the result is sometimes bad. That's why we use them. If you won't adhere to the rules, then I'll get someone to replace you.

Alan quickly ducks in his seat, moments before

Ambusher 2 lets out a hail of gun fire at the truck (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1093614) from the left side of the road. The front window shatters, and holes appear with metallic clang noises all along the left side of the red pickup. A tire can be heard deflating. No one is hit.

Lead passes straight through the large civilian monstrosity, breaking the dashboard readouts and the windshield, as well as all of the other windows, save the back double doors'. The man with the shotgun stands in place and raises his gun. He shoots straight at the truck two times. Joe leans out of the van's side window now that it has been blasted away, saying "Let's get 'em!

Ambusher 4 runs out of the forest straight towards the truck. He is halfway there.

Nong frantically attempts to wake Nikolai, who is still unconscious. He fails.

Daniel grabs a wrench out of the repair kit, and dusts the glass off of his uniform and hat.

Dickie bends over in his seat and starts to pray.

Robert climbs out of the car and runs almost all the way to the guy with the shotgun. He isn't quite within attacking distance yet. Climbing out of the truck took some valuable time.

Nong, sensing a sudden new movement, quickly turns his head at Ambusher 4. He shouts as loud as he can, "Watch yourself guys, ambusher incoming!!"

Nikolai skipped down the road, humming a patriotic song to himself. While skipping, he noticed an old man on the side of the road. "How are you comrade?" He asks the man cheerfully. He stands on it, reaches up, and starts to slap Nikolai. "Aaaahh!" shouts Nikolai as he cowers and tries to block his face. When the man stops slapping him, he stood back up and looked at him. The old man had transformed into Vladislav. "Slava!" shouts Nikolai. Vladislav did not reply, he simple stood there, raising his arm to place it on Nikolai's shoulder. Then his face opened up, and a comical boxing glove on a spring flew out and punched Nikolai in the face.

It is almost impossible to see because it is so dark, except for in front of the cars where the head lights glow.

Alison climbs over to the rear of the van, opens the doors, and leaving them open, jumps out, exclaiming "Cars aren't bullet proof!" She lands perfectly on her feet, even though the car was going pretty fast.
She forgot to take her black duffel bag. It slides around between the seats.
She runs for a tree about four meters in front of Ambusher 3 and makes is before the guy can react. It seems that she has a lot of agility.

Ambusher 1, seeing that the shotgun guy is in danger, braces himself against the tree and takes a shot at Robert (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097513), but hits the ground a few feet behind the student.

Nong hits Nikolai in the head, who suddenly becomes conscious of the fight around him, yet it seems he is not fully cognizant of what is going on. Nong exclaims that Ambusher 4 is approaching rapidly. The ambusher is about 5 meters away from the truck.

Dwayne swerves back onto the road, and starts to put distance between himself and the truck. The back doors flap wildly as they hang open. It is extremely distracting. If he kept driving, he could abandon the others and get away safely... Dickie is sitting in the seat next to him, silently in prayer.

Ben ducks out of his seat and semi curls up on the floor between the seat and the dashboard. He was quite safe here, no one could see him from outside. Ben worriedly asked if Daniel was OK.

The guy with the shotgun reacts before Robert can quite reach him. He lunges at Robert and attempts to plant his shotgun's butt into his face. It's Robert's turn now, and he grabs the gun and does his best to yank it out of the soldier's hands. The shotgun guy shouts an expletive and yanks the gun back. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097557)

Ambusher 3 decides that he doesn't want an enemy so close to him, and lets out a hail of bullets from his SMG at Alison (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097566). Alison slams into the cover of her tree (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097569) and is not hit.

Alan decides he isn't going to bend over in his seat anymore. He opens the door of the truck, rolls out, and crawls under the truck.

Ambusher 2 fires his assault rifle at the contents of the truck (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1097572), only to find his gun runs out of ammo. Sucks to be him.

Daniel laid on the floor of the truck cabin, hoping not to get shot.

Joe fires at the people that were shooting at him, but finds that the bumpiness of the van makes it hard to aim. That, and he can't see his targets. It is the middle of the night, after all. He fires none the less, but nothing happens after the first bullet shoots out.
It isn't a jam, but is seems that there is something preventing the next bullet from entering the chamber of the STG. A closer inspection could easily fix the problem.

Ambusher 4 arrives late to the party and screams, "Get out of the truck, get out of the truck!!!" At Nong and Nikolai, while waving a 9mm handgun at them.

Nikolai, angry at being yelled at, roars, "I NO WANT TO GET OUT OF TRUCK," and gulps down the rest of his vodka before chucking the glass bottle at Ambusher 4. The man tries to duck the bottle (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100759), but finds that he just put his head in the path of the glass projectile. The spent vodka bottle smashes on his jaw, sending bits of glass all over his face. Ambusher 4 receives 3 wounds and falls backwards with a bloody face, stunned.

Nong decides to say, "How about you drop your weapon now and surrender, or I'll have this big Russian guy tear you apart?" even though it does not appear the ambusher will hear the comment in the near future.

Joe, not wanting to miss out on the action, drops the customized STG 44 onto the ground with a clatter and bolts out the open back doors to the group of trees by the side of the road where Alison is taking cover. He makes it about half way there. The van did leave the battle behind by a good amount, but Joe is a quick runner and will reach it shortly.

Robert, getting desperate, makes a lunge for the shotgun once more but almost falls to the ground when he trips over the shotgun guy's leg. Rob spins around at the last moment before continuing his fall and grabs at the shotgun guy's weapon (Shotgun), but the guy yanks it out of reach (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100778)at the last second.

Ambusher 4 rolls onto his stomach, hands to his jaw, and groans.

Ben decides his efforts are best spent playing it safe and not doing anything.

Daniel, seeing that Ambusher 4 is down, decides it is best if he doesn't lie in wait under the truck. He clambers over the front seats and executes a perfect commando-jump out of the broken right side passenger window. Hefting his wrench and adjusting his cowboy hat, Red wants to make the enemy stay on the ground. He leaps on the downed soldier and beats at the the enemy's legs. Ambusher 4 attempts to minimize damage (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100804), but fails. Daniel smashes the wrench into the whimpering man's legs until bones can be heard breaking for 3 wounds.

The man with the shotgun leaps back and levels the shotgun with Robert's head, and says, "If I had more than no bullets left, I would shoot you right now." and then settles for charging and swinging his gun's stock into Robert's face. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100806) Robert, who isn't a particularly lucky person, still manages to sense the hit coming and ducks it, just in the nick of time (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100809), receiving no wounds.

Alison figures that she should shoot back at Ambusher 3 right about... now. She leans out from her tree and fires a burst at the part of the enemy that isn't behind a tree (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100811). Ambusher 3 is caught with a large portion of his body exposed to the gunfire (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1100814). He gets hit once in the lower left side of his hip, another time in his lower right side, and finally, a 5.56 mm round finds its way into Ambusher 3's right elbow. All of this does 19 wounds of damage, shredding the Ambusher's kidneys and intestines as the bullets tear through flesh. He slumps against his tree and slides down, leaving a bloody mess, quite dead.

Dwayne, seizing the opportunity to look through someone else's possessions while they aren't present, quickly hops out of his seat and closes the back doors of Ol' Bessie, then unzips Alley's black duffel bag to see what is inside. There are two pairs of jeans, a long sleeve shirt with the army logo on it, and a jacket with the same logo. Standard issue. There is also some women's underwear, along with a book that appears to be a journal of some sort. The bag contains exactly what one would expect to find in a bag...

As soon as Dwayne is up and out, Richard Dammott flies out of his seat and into the driver's seat, quickly turning the keys that were left in the ignition and slams down the gas, spinning the rear wheels of the van so fast that they slide sideways instead of propelling the vehicle forward. Dickie shifts gears and forces the slow van to it's maximum abilities, back to the battle. The van is now heading very quickly on the correct side of the road back to the truck, passing Joe on the way.

Alan stays where he is, prone beneath the truck. He hears and sees gunfire in the forest, and hopes that the guard woman didn't get herself killed. He takes special notice of the ambusher getting beaten to death by Daniel. (Pre-translated from German for your viewing pleasure.) War brings out the worst in us... Sucks to be that guy, his firearm did him no good...

Ambushers 1 and 2 by the side of the road both pause to turn off their team chat with Ambusher 3 and 4, who are/were both screaming in pain. Ambusher 2 nods at Ambusher 1, and they seems to speak to each other over their helmet communicators. They both hide in the shadows.
Perhaps if someone started to look for them, they could be easily spotted.

I had missed the action, and on top of that, the truck had passed me, and I would have to jog sometime. I flopped down on the road, and looked down toward the carnage and into the forest. Perhaps there were more. Joe went prone onto the ground. He started to regret his action of getting out of the truck... Or was it a van? It didn't matter now. It would be in the fighting while he was stuck moving in. Being prone in the middle of a road wasn't exactly stealth, but it was the middle of the night.
Being invisible on a road suddenly didn't seem to be a very smart tactic to Joe as he clenched the knife in a fist. A car driving in this direction wouldn't see the fight, or him, until it went around the bend and the wheels crunched into his flesh. There was a war going on, so maybe that would stop the traffic heading south... Joe started to scan the surrounding forest. If there were more tangos out in the darkness, Joe hoped to see them. Without all the war gear like infra red and night vision goggles however, this was very difficult, if not impossible. Shrugging, he scanned the battle. At this distance, Joe could only make out Robert's fight with the guy wielding a shotgun. That guy wasn't shooting the university student, which was strange. Perhaps he was out of ammo.

Nong hopped out of the truck bed and went over to Ambusher 4. He picked up the 9mm handgun that was knocked out of the enemy's grip. Aiming, Nong pulled the trigger to shoot Robert's foe. The 10 meter distance was an easy shot. Nothing happened. Quickly, Nong checked the mag. It had a full clip. Next, he checked the firing mechani--But there was none. It seemed as if something had crushed in the left side of the sidearm.
Everything was punched inwards a good inch. The gun also had a sticky feel to it. When he looked, he saw the handle was covered with old blood. The gun wasn't broken so badly from being tossed out of the ambusher's hand, it had been broken much earlier.
Nong realized that the downed enemy had been bluffing about his weapon for the three seconds he was threatening people with it. The gun would never fire at anything again. The mag was perfectly functional though.
That's when he saw what Daniel was going to do. "Don't knock Ambusher 4 out! We need to interrogate him quickly after we take care of his friends here." At Nong's words, Ben, Alan, Daniel, and the captured enemy, looked quizzically at him. Alan voiced the thoughts of the entire group from under the truck. Except for Nikolai's thoughts. Nikolai doesn't seem to notice what is going on. He seems to be focused on something else. Alan said, "What are you talking about? Who the hell is 'Ambusher 4?'"

Dwayne hurriedly browsed through the most recent pages of the journal in an attempt to find out information about what was going on. The lights in the van were dim, barely enough to read by. Dwayne powered on though. Picking the most recent entry, he read. The writing was neat and in pencil, the letters, round and bubbly.
"October 26, 2046" Dwayne didn't know today's date. It was October 29th or 28th or something. He didn't keep track of dates. "I met with my squad for an excursion into Birmingham this morning. Iverson said, "We're going to the movies!" in that annoying American accent he does. I have to admit though, since no one laughed, it was still a good silent chuckle.
The show was crowded with those expose soldiers. I really hate them (There is a small frowny face drawn here) They get quid from their countries just to have fun. I wish that, as that American soldier said, 'The Home Team,' got free quid to throw away too.
I got a letter from the family too. (A little heart dots the 'i' in family.) Dad says he's proud, and says mum is too, even though she says she's scared. Dad always tells me mum is lying to him. Im just glad they never got around to getting divorced. Both of em are too lazy to..." Dwayne sees it just goes on and on, no useful information whatsoever inside the most recent entries. All that is written in the journal appears to be journal entries with no revealing information at all, except that Alison loves Raspberries, American cars, and the word "Mellow."

Ben, seeing no one is injured except for the captured enemy and possibly Alison, who ran into the forest, sits tight, fingering the knife that is in his pocket. Ben knew a lot about using a knife, and they didn't call Britain's medics Combat Medical Technicians for nothing.
Ben thought about Robert's ongoing fight with the shotgun man. Too bad the student didn't know how to fight and no one was helping him.

Dickie accelerated off the right side of the road into the forest, searching angrily in the headlights for a person to hit. There were at least 2 people hiding in here, and Dickie would run them over if he saw them. He didn't however, and even if he did, how was a van going to run someone over when they were next to a tree? The van managed to slide around the plants. They were a good eight meters apart. Dickie drove through the woods, unrewarded.

Ambusher 4 groaned as Daniel started to strangle him. He would be unconscious very soon.

Nikolai finally notices what is going on in front of the truck. "WHY YOU HURTING COMRADE?" Nikolai shouts. The shotgun guy is distracted by this fearsome roar. Nikolai lowers his head in the style of a bull and attempts to headbutt the hurter-of-comrades. Nikolai isn't the fastest runner, and only covers half the distance to the brawl in his charge.

Alan gets up from beneath the truck and dusts off his crisp German uniform.

Robert, seizing on the distraction of the shotgun guy, punches him when he turns to look at Nikolai. The shotgun guy is looking away when the blow strikes. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1104749) The punch lands right in shotgun guy's side, knocking the wind out of him for 2 wounds. The shotgun falls to the ground and shotgun guy falls to his knees, wheezing.

Alison walks cautiously over to Ambusher 3, taking his helmet, survival gear, and 5.56 SMG and the extra clip, then sets up a shot for the shotgun guy, just in case he gets up, with her SMG.

Shotgun guy stands up bent over and grabbing his side.

There is the dull sound of an explosion from a few kilometers west. A soft orange glow can be seen above the tree line.

He then scans the trees in the distance, trying to find any more enemies, and informs everyone about anyone that he finds.

The explosion to the west makes Nong turn his head to take a look. "We might want to wrap this up guys, whatever's happening over there may be coming closer..."

Just so you realize, after Ben turns off the headlights, you are basically fighting in pitch-black-can't-see-in-front-of-your-face-blackness. You don't have to change your actions, but realize that your character probably won't be able to see, save for the glow of the van's headlights in the woods. Ben has a flashlight, and there is a big mac light in the truck's toolbox. The cabin lights in the truck are broken.

So, except for the van's faint headlights behind trees and the orange glow above the tree line, it is really, really dark.

Seemingly hiding for long enough, Ambusher 2 fires a spray of well aimed lead at Robert and Nikolai, the two enemies near his shotgun-less friend. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1108453) Nikolai doesn't feel or notice anything as a 7.63 round punches through his right pant leg and creates a flesh wound on his upper calf, luckily dealing no wounds levels to the giant Russian. Robert hears the first few shots of the weapon and dives for the ground before he is hit by too many bullets. However, a round still punctures his his right side, dealing 5 wound levels of damage. Nikolai continues running at the shotgun man, chanting, "Работа работников. Работа людей. Работы правительства. Каждое равно. Каждое процветает." Just as the last word exits his mouth, Nikolai's head slams into the shotgun guy's bent over helmeted head (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1108496) as the he tries to jump aside. The shotgun guy was doubled over from the gut punch by Robert, but now is sent sprawling backwards by Nikolai. He not killed, thanks to his helmet. The attack does two wound levels of damage.

Ambusher 1 takes Ambusher 2's shooting to start his own. He fires a hurried shot in the general direction of Nikolai (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1108501), who is not hit at all. (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1108507)

Daniel runs closely behind Nikolai, catching up with Nikolai just after his head lands the blow. Daniel is much swifter than Nikolai and Robert, and could have made the distance and attacked if he chose to. At least he didn't get shot at.

Dickie carefully drives the van back onto the road, right next to the red pickup truck.

Ben climbs in the truck's driver seat to turn off the headlights, submersing everything in darkness except for the glow of the van's headlights, which are facing the truck. He hops out and almost exclaims, "Daniel, stop! We need to interrogate him, as Nong said," but finds that Daniel has already run off.

Joe runs right into the melee after the gunfire stops only to be welcomed by the greatest source of light being turned off. He can't swing a knife at something he can't see. Joe's eyes adjust to the darkness quickly, but he is left actionless.

Ambusher 4, seeing that the violet people have left, begins to slowly drag himself away. He goes about a meter. It is hard not to notice the Ambusher who is grunting in pain as he loudly drags his body across pavement. He stops and then bursts into tears.

Robert gets up, clutching his side in the darkness and violently kicks at where he sees a figure sprawled on the ground. The kick connects to the enemy's stomach. The shotgun guy can't really dodge because of his injuries (http://invisiblecastle.com/rolldice.py?u=BW%3A+Shotgun+Guy&r=1&d=1d12%2B4-2&n=Dodging&a=Roll+the+dice) and curls up, stunned.

Nong says, "Ugh, what a piece of crap," his form barely silhouetted by the headlights of the van. He jumps into the truck to flip on the headlights, because people need to see. The lights don't turn back on. He sits in the driver's seat and He ejects the clip from the pistol and pockets it, throwing the broken pistol away onto the road. He looks at the forest, and sees some movement from where Alison ran off to. Maybe she died and that is another ambusher. Maybe the ambusher is dead and that is Alison. There was no way to know for sure. Nong rotated his head to gaze upon the other side of the road, but found that the bright lights from the van were interfering with his sight in that direction. Nong details, saying, "We might want to wrap this up guys, whatever's happening over there may be coming closer..."

Dwayne angrily stuffs everything back into the bag, careful not to leave evidence of his trespassing. He then hops into the front seat, but is almost thrown to the floor by the van when it drives onto the bank of the road. Dwayne plays with his van's radio, watching Nong squint from the driver's seat of the truck as he tries to look at what is going on behind the van. Dwayne comments on the fact Dickie just stole his Bessie just as he picks up a non-static station. There are two very static saturated voices speaking. "Omega nine, Beta seven. Negetive." They talk very slowly and thoroughly, as if what the are saying is important. "Omega nine, Ceta seven. Negetive. Omega nine, Delta seven. Negetive..." The voices continue this methodical "question & answer," unwavering.

Alison loses her shot as the lights switch off. She runs down to the truck under cover of darkness. She won't be caught out in the open when people start shooting. She steps in front of the sobbing Ambusher 4 and says, "I got one out there. He had no friends with him. Who wants his stuff?" She offers a helmet and SMG with ammo to whoever wants them. She keeps the survival gear on her back.

Alan politely asks for Nong to leave the driver's seat as he starts to climb into the truck again from the passenger's side, carefully hoisting himself over Ben.

Shotgun Guy is stunned for the round by Robert's kick.

A loud humming is heard as a wide array of British and American military vehicles suddenly emerge from of the west forest, drive across the road, and drive into the eastern forest. The people involved in the melee are almost mowed down (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1108554) by a fast driving Hummer Mk2, whose driver almost didn't see them because they weren't illuminated by the truck's headlights. A tank narrowly misses the truck's front end as it speeds across the road. The hodgepodge of military might eventually finish their crossing.

A lone American battle tank that is engulfed in flames slowly lags across the road after the other vehicles have come and gone, illuminating everything around its flames before continuing into the forest on the other side of the road. The sounds of vehicles fades in the night, and the glow from the flaming tank grows brighter as it slams into a nearby tree over by where Alison used to be. The whole situation is now bathed in an eerie fiery glow as the trees next to the road begin to burn.

There is a loud, odd mechanical sound coming from a kilometer west, deep behind the trees. It sounds like a tank of some sort.

What do you do?

I might not have colored everything correctly, but I'm tired. I might fix it later.

"You stay with Yelling Man."

He then picks up the shotgun in one hand.

Nong gets out of the car to let Alan in the driver's seat. As Nong is climbing into the bed of the truck, he notices Ambusher 4 crawling away.

"You're not going anywhere." Nong picks up the ambusher by the shirt and lays him in the bed, keeping an eye on him so he doesn't move anywhere else. Poor guy, look at him sobbing right there...

Nong begins to treat Ambusher 4 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1110054). He rips off some of Ambusher 4's clothing and wipes the blood off of his face with it. He then splints his legs with a rolled up car-mat and more ripped clothing.

Dwayne removes his handy keyring from the car key and promptly pockets the keyring and other keys while placing Bessies key in his other pocket.

Man what the hell is that noise coming from? Dwayne said looking through the forest, at the noises general source.

Getting bored he gets out and starts walking to Nicholai an the others to see whats going on.

Nikolai begins to move over to the Shotgun Guy. It is obvious to Daniel that he is going to throw him. Daniel wonders if Ambusher 4 got pulped by all the vehicles that just crossed the road as he grabs the Shotgun Guy's right arm and leg to give a +4 assist to Nikolai. He says, "I just want to see how far we can throw him, to see if we can trust him when we interrogate him later" to Nikolai. The words makes perfect sense to Red.

It turns out that Ambusher 4 actually didn't get splattered by a car of any sort, in fact, he is alive and--dragging himself along the ground. Nong sees this futile escape attempt and says, "You're not going anywhere," and moves the Ambusher to the truck bed. Feeling sorry for the blubbering man, Nong silently begins to treat his wounds. He leans in through the shattered back window, careful not to cut himself on glass. Looking around, he spots a car mat on the ground just like he had hoped. He stretches down and grabs it. Getting back to the task at hand, Nong attempts to rip off a piece of Ambusher 4's clothing, only to find that it doesn't really rip as easily as he had hoped. He instead takes off Ambusher 4's loose cameo jacket he is wearing and wraps it around his legs with the splint. The legs are now immobilized. As long as the bones are stabilized, Ambusher 4 loses 1 wound level.

Ben grabs the briefcase sized medical kit from underneath the passenger seat and starts to run to where Robert is laying. The shooters are still in the trees, but Ben doubts they would shoot with their team mate so near. When he is a meter away from Robert, he hastily asks, "Are you alright?" but unfortunately does not reach Robert quite in time for him to do first aid right this moment.

Joe, who doesn't know much about tanks or fire, hastily runs over to the searing heat of the flames that engulf the crashed tank. "Do we have anything to put out the flames?" is all Joe says as he tries to get past the flames. Prodding, he sees that the wind is blowing south, so he quickly runs around to the opposite side. The top and sides of the tank are clearly on fire, but the length of the flames are going away from Joe. If he wanted to open the hatch, this would be the direction to do it from.

Nikolai acknowledges Daniel's help and says to the shotgun guy, "You stay with Yelling Man," as he grabs the guy's left arm and leg. The shotgun guy's face pales. Daniel looks at Nikolai for a second, and Nikolai looks at Daniel for a second, and then both of them heave the ambusher backwards then forwards, letting go. He goes flying in the air, clearly spinning as he flails his arms wildly screaming, "Heeeeeelp meeeee!!!" just before he hits the ground, three meters from the truck. Shotgun guy suffers a wound from whiplash and road burn as he smashes into the ground on his left side. Nikolai picks up the shotgun.

Robert looks away from the spectacle of two very strong guys throwing a third guy to gaze upon the flame on treads which Joe is currently hovering around. "Is anyone in that tank?!" He asks, but no one answers. Robert lays down, feeling dizzy with blood loss. Robert, seeing Ben close by, assists the CMT by telling him where the wound is, and gives him a brief description of how he is feeling, a +4 assistance. (Garson, you keep the first aid roll you did from last time. No need to roll again) Robert was going to say, "Nikolai, please take it from here. Shotgun guy has the ammo, you might want to pat him down for it," but settles on saying through a grimace of renewed pain, "Shotgun guy has the ammo, you might want to pat him down for it." After all, Nikolai already did take it from here. From here, to there.

Dickie, seeing Alison holding up an SMG, opens up the Van's driver door and runs around the back of the truck and grabs it, saying, "I'll take that!" Dickie notes that the tank that is making the noise is getting louder. In all the war movies he has seen, and in all the demonstrations he has been to in the past, Dickie has never heard this specific engine and tread noise before. It might be something from the convention, as the armor displayed in it would be new and not seen before.

Alison seems somewhat surprised at Dickie's sudden appearance, and says, "Don't forget your ammo" as she tossed him the clip. Alley added, "If you plan to shoot, take this too," she explained as she started to hand him the helmet. "It'll keep your brains where they belong." Just before the transfer was complete, a sound came out of the helmet. One of the sounds was a thin voice, saying, "What should we do?" The answer was given by a deep bass voice. They don't know I have their buddy's helmet, we can hear everything they're saying!"

Alan inhaled a large amount of air as he settled into the truck's driver seat. He gingerly felt the tightly wrapped bandage that encircled his torso and exhaled. He called out to everyone around the truck. "We need to leave. I think that these ambushers are going to be the least of our problems soon..."

Dwayne is happy that Dickie finally left his Bessie. He takes the key to the van and pocket it, and takes the keyring and pockets it seperately, watching as all the on board displays of his shot up van fade to black. The voices on the radio say, "Omega nine," "Omega seven," and "Negetive," before silencing. He looks out into the forest and fancies he sees a glint of silver firelight off of a piece of metal, but doesn't think too much about it. He hops out of the van and starts to walk to the group of others, only to be halted by Alan, who tells him, "You'll get shot if you go over there." Dwayne isn't stupid, and he won't get himself shot tonight.

The shotgun guy starts to stand and repeats his previous statement, hand to his helmet. Two figures come running out of the west forest, Ambushers 1 and 2. Ambusher 1 is a thin pale man, and is wearing a helmet, combat fatigues, a large survival pack, and has a 5.56 rifle. Ambusher 2 is a muscular black man. He is wearing night vision goggles and wears a helmet as well as combat fatigues. He wields a menacing British 7.63 assault rifle. He says to everyone around him, "Don't move or I'll shoot you!" They grab the shotgun guy, one on each arm (1 on right and 2 on left) and begin to start running East. The pale guy worriedly speaks to the Shotgun Guy, loud enough for everyone to hear, "Sergeant Nawlch, they're coming up behind us!" He gestures to the west side of the road with the arm that is wielding the rifle. Nawlch grows paler than the pale guy and seems to be completely rejuvenated from his wounded state. He runs to the east astonishingly fast, leaving his squaddies behind stunned. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" He shouts to his buddies, "Run! I don't want to lose you two! Seven dead is bad enough!" They follow after a this comment. They are beginning to enter the east forest.

Robert gets up, limps toward the tire iron, and picks it up. He limps to the truck, grabs the gas mask off Nikolai (after apologizing), and limps to Joe. He hands Joe the gas mask and tire iron.

"Joe, don't touch the god???? hatch with your bare hands! Use the tire iron to pry the hatch. And I'll help, too."

Nikolai seems to have forgotten what has just happened. He walks to the back of the truck, but after a few steps starts to run there instead, because it was fun. When he gets there, he roughly pushes Ambusher 4 over to right side with one hand, but doesn't think much of him for the most part. He climbs in, sits down, and places the shotgun down next to him.

Lot of people with head defense. I get head defense!

Nikolai picks up the gas mask. He fumbles around with it, trying to figure out how to wear it. In the end, he places the gas mask on his head, pulling the straps down under his chin. He grins to himself, feeling quite accomplished.

He heads back and enters and sits in Bessies driving seat and trys to see what the source of the noise is through the trees.

Alan starts up the truck then notices the headlights don't turn on. "I guess the van will have to lead. I'm not driving in the middle of the night without headlights." He looks out the window at the deflated front right tire. "Someone get a spare and change this. Who has the tire iron?" (There is a spare in the bed)

Alison jumps into the back of the pickup. "Where does that guy think he's going? I'm pretty sure that these cars don't have 4 wheel drive, we should stick to the road..." Alison seems doubtful for a moment. "Where ever it is we're going, hey, you!" She gets Alan's attention. "Where are we going anyway?"

Ben kneels down and starts to treat Robert's gunshot wound. It really isn't that bad, and after some pain on Robert's part, the bullet is removed, the wound sterilized, and then bandaged up, healing 3 wound levels, brining Robert to 2 wound levels. Ben hastily packs up the first aid kit after helping Robert up. He advises him to chill out for a while before running back to the truck and jumping in the passenger seat.

Nikolai ran to the pickup, pushes Ambusher 4 out of the way and puts the shotgun down. Seeing that more and more people are getting head defense, Nikolai attaches the old gas mask to his head so he can fit in too.

Robert decides not to take Ben's advice and collects the tire iron and the gas mask to give them to Joe.

Joe warns Robert about his injuries. Ultimately, he thanks him and continues trying to open the hatch. Joe reaches tentatively reaches towards the hatch with the tire iron, gas mask on his face. Suddenly, the flames jump up unexpectedly, giving first degree burns to Joe's unprotected hands for 1 wound. If Joe hadn't moved so quickly away, he could have been burned much more severely. Joe lets out a yelp of pain then backs away from the tank quickly.

Nong sees that Ambusher 4 is still alright. In fact, the ambusher is smiling to himself. Nong looks away at the forest. The tank was getting uncomfortably close. It was almost impossible to see it, but it didn't take a genius to figure that it would be on the road in a minute or less.

Daniel would have followed the Ambushers, but hearing that the cars would stick to the road, he paused, thinking his choice over.

Dickie insisted that Dwayne would drive if Dwayne wouldn't let him drive. Dwayne laughed to himself a bit as Dickie tried to pull him to the car. "So we're going now? Pfffhhh s'fine with me," Dwayne commented. Dwayne was taking this whole war thing quite well considering he was an average guy. Hopping in the van and starting it up, Dwayne casually gazed at the woods to see if he could spot the tank thing. He was rewarded by seeing part of a semi distant tree fall down as something drove into it. It was a large shape, but the features were unidentifiable.

Turning his attention to Joe clutching his hand in pain , Dwayne could only be amused. Leaning out Bessie's window he calls out to Joe in a mock caveman style voice "FIRE HOT, FIRE HOT HURT JOE? FIRE BAAAAD, DWAYNE NO LIKE FIRE"

Dwayne chuckling to himself turns his attention to the large shape moving closer an closer.

I hope they hurry, i really dont wanna see Bessie torched like that tank.

While waiting he turns the radio on an flicks to the frequency that the strange chatter had been on before.

Looks like the predator will have to go without prey. Daniel was mildly angry that he hadn't gotton to kill anyone yet. He stood behind the truck, smirking at the guy who he had turned into a cripple.

"I would appreciate it if I had to use more painful forms of interrogation, but I think there's been plenty of pain caused already, so this is the part where you spill the beans, scumbag. What is all of this about? Who's who? Where were those other guys headed?" and other such questions were asked.

Robert takes back the tire iron, and hands the tire iron to Dickie. Robert helps change the tire.

Nikolai stands up in the bed and picks up Ambusher 4 by the shoulders, he starts to shake him roughly.

"YOU ARE SCUMBAG! YOU SPILL BEANS!"

He turns his head toward Daniel and grins.

"I've seen your American prison movies! I know what to do!"

Nikolai starts to slap Ambusher 4 in the face with one hand, while carrying him with the other. Nikolai fails to understand the point of the slapping in the movies, and as result, doesn't use much force.

Nong is alarmed at the way Ambusher 4 is being treated. He pulls at Nikolai in an attempt to get him down.

"HEY!! He's still a wounded man. Don't shake him around like that! I'll take it from here..."

Nong turns twoard Ambusher 4. He attempts a forceful, yet not threatening tone. "So, why did you and your friends attack us? What were you guys afraid of? And what do you know about the current situation?"

Nikolai feels something itchy on his leg. He reaches down, and feels a small hole in his leg. He starts to scratch at it with his index finger. After awhile, he stops scratching.

Yelling Man spilled beans. Comrades want beans. I will find beans!

Nikolai jumped off the bed and got on all fours, scouring the ground for any spilled beans. He picks up a lone bottle cap and examines it, but decides that it is a rock, and throws it away.

Why do comrades want beans? Bread is better.

Nikolai waves Daniel away. "After I find beans." He picks up an insect and squeezes it. Its guts ooze out onto his fingers, and he decides that it is not a bean.
