Hi, This is going to be a RP about a nuclear war. It takes place in a small city, 10 miles north of New York. Its in the summer of 1962, and for some reason, the whole world has fired its nuclear missiles. A couple of things about the area:
- there is an army base outside the town.
-There is a lake just east of the town, and its 3 miles to sea.
- its a foresty area, with forest west and north of the town.
- There are a couple of abandoned bunkers near the town.
Make a char just like always, F.E.:
Name: Harry Meyers
Age: 16
Nationality: American
profession: Sollicitating for paper-boy
Description: 1, 85m 55 kilo's, skinny, dark hair with red streaks brown eyes.
Clothes: Black jeans, Black shirt with a wolf print, a necklace with a pentagram
Inventory:a stick he just picked up.
Background: None of your bussines.
Harry walked along the path, and waved around a bit with his stick. Boring school had passed an hour ago into boring outdoors. He walked of the path to the bunker nearby, and lay down on top of it, closed his eyes, and relaxed a bit.
A bright light flashed up, so bright he could see it through his eyelids. He looked around, a bit dazed by the bright light. Then he remembered the lessons from his school and ran into the bunker. He heard a distant rumbling, which quickly became louder and louder. He dropped on the floor, and listened as the explosion, after becoming deafening loud, died away slowly. An d then there was silence.

I was talking on the phone in my company, as I said to my collegue "Hey, how about that Kolanski order???" But I didn?t get a reply. There was a bright light, and the procedure was to take cover in the lower protectionbunker since the pressure on the U.S government was so tough that we couldn?t risk, not to have them.
The boom suddenly vanished, followed by a shaking as though there was a 1.9 earthquake.

Name: Jack Lupinski
Age: Mid 20's
Nationality: Canadian, but with Dual Status in America(Citizen in both countries, really.....but born and raised in Canada.)
Profession: Jack of all trades
Description: 5' 11", 206 Lbs, Semi-Muscular, Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes.
Clothes: Labcoat over Biker Jacket, with the emblem of Myracon Research Labs on the back of the labcoat. Black dress pants. Yellow construction type helmet.
Inventory: Laptop in satchel, Cellphone with spare battery, Lab funded Amex Card, 50+ dollars in cash/change in change pouch in pocket, Access Card(For lower levels of Bunker), Two Way radio on labcoat belt, compact flashlight on yellow helmet, four granola/fruit bars in pockets.
Background: I was working with Myracon on a new streamlined train that could run off Nuclear Power, on a magnetic rail type system. With luck, it would be the fastest train ever created......moving over land(and someday sea as well) at speeds of over 500 Mph. As such, my company had bought the rights to use several old fallout bunkers about 10 miles or so north of NYC, near a small town........though it may as well as have been 100 miles from NYC, as we were THAT isolated.
The town itself was nothing more than several shops/Police Station/Fire Station/Clinic lining a main street, and several side streets and maybe 50-60houses. Because of this, I was chosen as I had dual citizenship in both my home country of Canada and America.
Since the project was top secret, not many people knew the bunkers were in use or ever occupied, and only a skeleton crew worked with me there.......most of which were on leave on holiday at the current moment, and only a few others reamined with me to run some tests on the rail system.......which linked the bunkers together through lead/concrete/steel lined tunnels deep underground. At first, we had used a tram on the rail system to move people/cargo from bunker to bunker, but when the first locomotive prototype had passed several initial field tests in the tunnels we started to use the train itself to move stuff around instead.......as it was much faster, and we gathered data from each trip it made as well, so it sped up the testing process.
I was in my office(Which was also one of the bunker's monitoring rooms), writing out some paperwork on the latest test, when an alarm light flashed on a nearby monitor. Flicking a few switches, I could see that a boy had wandered into the entry tunnel into the Primary Bunker(The one I was in at the moment). Moments later another person ran in......this time an older man.
Not knowing what to do, I was about to rush to their location to tell them to go, with some sort of made up story.....when it hit: A massive shockwave hit the bunker, and though it didn't cause much damage it was still noticeable.......by feel, and by a look at the seismic sensor readings displaying on another screen.
Above me, a light had blown, as well as another one at the middle of the room......causing an odd light/dark effect around the room, although the rest of the lights appeared to be working.
Gathering my things, I was rushing out into the hall when another alarm played.....this time bunker-wide. It filled me with dread as I headed to the entry hall(about 2,000 feet away from my location). It was the outside radiation alert.....which was supposed to sound ONLY if radiation levels from a nuclear detonation were detected.

The army base was no more than 3 barracks, a few small buildings, a command office and 3 towers. It was bigger than it looked. No one knew on the outside but if you worked there, there were some small buildings that had an elevator in it leading underground to a few places. There was a tower near each small building. It was well guarded 24/7 though as time passed the numbers began to diminish. Guards started to disapear even officers.
(This is where CaptainSnake is from as the last survivor)

I took cover in the bunker beside me was a kid not much by what I can tell 16. I saw another man run into another hallway as the explosions continued lights began to flash. I immediatly knew what they were. It was danger lights.. something must be wrong outside but nothing could have done that except bombs but we're not at war. What was happening..
FLASHBACK
Back when I was at my post at area 52 they were doing strange tests thats they wouldn't tell us. They wanted to make a drug that would make you live forever.. Using many biohazardous products they made a drug that would let you live forever. But there were side effects. It destroyed your entire body only leaving parts of your brain intact. You could go beyond death but you had no control. My best friend told me this.. He gave his life for me..........Strange things started happening in area 52.
Everyday when I slept I would wake up to some screaming. I would wake up from it. People were disapearing one by one in my barracks. The only person I told was my best friend but he didn't really care much. Everyday someone would disapear and he would never come back. I've never been inside the actual base before and didn't really care for the disapearances until my best friend left. He wrote me a note saying that "Snake if I don't come back.. Leave. I've noticed the screams at night as well. I got a letter yesterday. I am going to report to the inside of the base. I'll let you know whats going on" He and I were the last people. A bit odd but I didn't care much..
Then one day when I was doing my dailey patrols and examinations. My best friend came to me. He looked normal except for one thing. There was a blank expression on his face. He said SNAKE LEAVE NOW. I replied hey you alright man? then he started to groan and growl and then he said SNAKE LEAVE NOW OR THEY WILL KILL YOU. After that he fell to the floor holding his head and died.
It all happened so sudden. I buried my friend, wept and started to write letters to his family.. I went around the base to tell someone but no one was there. I tried to go into the base but it was no use every door there was locked. It was obiously on lock down. After that I left the base in a hurry gathering anything I could. All I could take with me was my 1911, and my bayonet knife. I walked along a path looking over my shoulder every few minutes, I was a bit tense.
CaptainSnake - Back at the bunker
I saw man run into a hallway. I pointed to the boy and he was looked at me then I gestured to the door as if I wanted him to close. Then I ran after the man who went into the hallway. Maybe he would know what was happening. I yelled HEY DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON HERE? He looked at my gun and then there was a small change of expression on his face. I tried to clam down and asked him what was happening. He told me he didn't know as I went back to check on the boy I noticed that I didn't have any extra ammo for my gun. Only the clip inside and it was rubber bullets. Nothing really happened at the base where I was from. They gave us rubber bullets instead of live ammunition...... I asked the boy if he knew what was going on but he didn't either. He just said he saw some strange lights and went into the bunker. The other man had fled to another room. I checked the door to see if it was locked. I locked it and then put my back to the door just to make sure it was shut tight. The explosions continued and I started to have strange thoughts about them.

About 3 minutes later, I was right next to the entry corridor, thanks to my personell tranport(A sort of golf cart type vehicle, like in Day of the Dead).
Walking up to the door leading into the hall beyond, I looked around the corner to see a man talking a boy.....just the two i'd seen on the monitors before. Dust had collected on the floor near where the Main Access Doors were, which the other man seemed to be trying to close.
HEY DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON HERE? The man yelled at me, obviously having seen me as I cautiously yet briskly walked into the room. When I saw the man had a gun, I panicked and ran into the nearby guard station. Nobody was around, as usual, during holidays. Most of the bunker entry systmes were automated during such times, and I immeadiately had two thoughts:
1. What was the main outer bulkhead door doing open, and the inner door as well(The one Captainsnake just closed).
2. If this was a nuclear blast, it was probably just a pre-shockwave that I felt earlier, most likely from a far off distant location since the main shockwave was taking so long to arrive. A bigger one would soon hit, and so I went to the guardroom, and punched up something on the control panel. Pulling a large lever next to the panel on a nearby wall.......which was labelled "Emergency Bulkhead Lockdown". With some effort, the lever moved(It was a bit old and a tad rusty.)
A klaxon(alarm) sounded in the halls around all of us, as the thick steel outer bulkhead door (the one outside the one Captainsnake had just closed.....which was the inner door) could be heard grinding it's gears along it's metal track. A computerised voice stated:
Outer Bulkhead doors now closing......all personell and visitors are instructed to step away from closing doors. I repeat, Outer Bulkhead doors now closing, please step away from closing doors.
Running back out, I was glad to see on a nearby monitor(Showing the area outside the set of doors, and a bit of the ground nearby on the outside) that the bulkhead was sealing.....and within a few moments it was closed completely, hydraulic locks clamping into place as the 1 foot thick doors sealed shut.
As it did so, we all relaxed a bit......even though most of us had no knowledge of what EXACTLY had just occured, and what was still occuring. Yes, I knew it HAD to be a nuclear attack of some kind, but that's all I knew.....and it made me rather nervous.
My name's Jack Lupinski......and you two seem to either be very lucky at the moment. I told the boy and the man with him.
Stumbling into this place normally would have gotten you a visit from the local police for entering into private property.....and perhaps a chance to sign one of our confidentiality wavers, if you had seen anything interesting by accident. As such as it is now, there's almost a certainty that you'll both be stuck here for quite some time.....as will I. So, I propose we get to know each other better, and lay some ground rules, before I tell you anything else or let you go any further. I added, a bit more confident now that i'd seen the man drop his gun to his side......fumbling with the clip, which I could see into for a bit, now knowing that all the gun was loaded with was riot control rounds.

Descent into chaos - Humanity's Requiem
It was around that time, as I was speaking, that the man was watching the monitor i'd been looking at before........and as I talked with the both of my "guests", he suddenly looked at me in a serious way, and yelled: Jack, boy, get the h*ck down......NOW!
Well....of all the nerve. Do you know who I am, and how lucky you are to be here, because..... I started to reply in a mild state of anger, when he pointed to the monitor nearby. On it, one could see the wind whipping about outside on the ground near the bunker doors, and in the sky in the distance a large wall of dust rushed towards us.
Ducking down quickly, as did the man and the boy nearby, we braced ourselves as it hit.......a shockwave at least 3 times as bad as the last one. The ground started to rumble slightly, and the lights overhead swung wildly back and forth. A few bulbs even burst from all the stress on the wiring overhead, and the rest of the lights dimmed almost out entirely before coming back on again. Looking up once it was over, I could see only static on the monitor nearby now. The outer cameras, I guessed, were now junked.

As the explosions continued I saw the man running around checking monitors. He might have been trying to figure out what was happening. I had my back to the door just incase. The explosions continued...
The man came up to the door he told said My name's Jack Lupinski......and you two seem to either---
I didn't really listening after that.. bells were ringing in my head. I could see him move but i could hear him. After a while heavy explosions came. Bombs detonating near the bunker. Lights becan to break.
I yelled Jack, boy, get the h*ck down......NOW! I couldn't hear my own voice so I didn't know if they heard it. I hope they did...
I still had my back to the door and the door began to hit me more it was hard to control. I knew if I let my back off it, the door would break open. I didn't want that to happen. As a few knocks on my the door can rumbling on my back I began to feel weak.
I heard a computer say Outer Bulkhead doors now closing. I let my back off the door and fell unconsios.

The thoughts burned into my mind, etching themselves into my brain, constantly reminding me of this dumb, low-pay boring job I had gotten my arse into. I would of been better off in Poland, with the godd*mn Soviets. I wondered how the rest of my friends were getting along in America. We had all stolen a boat heading to America and hitched a ride in hope of a better life.
As I was about to round the corner into the train docks for Bunker A1, a deep rumbling sound started, and the siren went off. Oh you are joking.... I said out load and dived behind a desk, just as all hell broke loose.

The HUGE F*CKING EXPLOSION had stopped.
Alright, I got a coin. We flip it, loser goes outside first. And put the F*cking gun down.
Moron, I muttered. Stupid army guys, thought they were great. But right now, it looked more like they were blowing up the world, plus everyone on it.
PS I reccomend to wait a short period of time 2-3 hours. Appearently, there is radioactive dust in the air. After so much time most of it settles and it wont kill you outright. You just get cancer. So, army personell, I think you should know that.

A few hours later I woke up. I relized that I've fallen unconscious for about an hour or so. The explosions seem to have stopped. It was just us here in this bunker. A few lights on my ceiling still worked. Everyone was silent. I got up..
Are you alright? Yeah, fine thanks. just a little bump on the head. We better go outside to see if there are any survivors. No he said in a serious voice. The raidiation levels outside are too high. We've just survivied a nuke. Someone nuked us or at least somewhere near us. Close enough to make the meters go wild. Then I guess we have to find another way eh?
Everyone was silent again. A cold lonely silence filled the room. Everyone was obiously thinking about their loved ones. If they survived.. The question was there. As everyone sat near the door. I went to around the bunker to check things out.
I went to a second room, it looked like it was once a storage room. Seeing as this was a bunker I went around to check if I could find some REAL bullets for my gun. In case things got out of hand. I went through shelves, cabinets but nothing. There were many dangerous materials in that room. But I couldn't find any bullets. I found a emptied out desk there. I checked the boxes and finnally there was some ammo. It was not much just a box of cartridges. 20 - 40 shots I couldn't count them all but somewhere near there. Beside the catridges there was another gun. I checked the clip and it looked as if it fired a few rounds from its last use. I thought the person who owned the gun might have played with it.. but then I have suspition. How could I trust the people. Then... Thats when I relized I was unarmed. Someone had taken my 1911. I searched my vest for my knife (Which is actually a rifle bayonet) I put it in my boot just in case... I took the extra gun and rounds hiding it in my vest so no one would know..
I closed the desk and went outside.
Alright who has my gun.

Things were now starting to settle down, although things got worse before getting better. First a partial blast-wave hitting the inner door(Before the outer door fully closed) knocked the other man unconcious. Second, a brick dislodged from the ceiling......and before I could finish yelling: Move out of the way kid! it had struck the poor boy, knocking him out cold.
Rushing to the kid at first, I checked his pulse from what little I knew of first aid from the few training courses i'd taken for this job. He seemed to be breathing, with no broken bones or skull fractures......just a good amount of bruising. The man was different......he had fell on his face, and as I turned him over I noticed his neck had a slight cut from a small piece of rusted metal on the ground, which he had fallen head first on. Luckily though, he was also breathing, and seemed ok as far as I could see......but I could onyl gather so much info from such a cursory look.
Going back into the guard room, I opened a first aid cabinet and took out some rolled bandages and tape.....plus a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Going back to the two, I worked on the man first.....cleaning his wound with rubbing alcohol to prevent infection and help the wound heal, before wrapping his neck in bandage around the cut, taping it in place before tending to the boy.
Before doing so, however, I picked up the man's gun and placed it in the guardroom for now......just to make sure it didn't go off by accident if the man rolled over or something, causing another injury.
After all....the bullets may be rubber, but I know from experience that they hurt....ALOT. I said to myself as I alked back to the two after placing the gun on a file cabinet in the guard station, rubbing a phantom injury as I remembered when one of the guard had shot me "accidentally" during my job initiation week.....rubber bullets, yes, but they d*mn well hurt plently at the time.
The boy turned out to be alot easier. I just cleaned the bruising on his forehead and face with alchol and a cotton swab or two.....followed by a gauze pad bandage on his forehead with some tape as well, at least till the swelling went away.
Not wanting to move after all this, and unsure of how the rest of the facility was at this point, I decided to wait until the others woke before moving on. Lying against a wall on a clean section of floor near the guard station window, I tried desperately to rest.
An hour or so later
As my eyes fluttered open and shut, I noticed the man was getting up finally.
Are you alright? I asked, trying to get to my feet after sitting against the wall for so long.
Yeah, fine thanks. just a little bump on the head. We better go outside to see if there are any survivors. The man replied, as he moved around the hall, stretching his legs and feeling the bandage around his neck.
Not a good idea.........The raidiation levels outside are too high. We've just survivied a nuke. Someone nuked us or at least somewhere near us. Close enough to make the meters go wild. I replied, telling him what I knew of the events that had just happened, though in truth I knew almost next to nothing.
Then I guess we have to find another way eh? He replied, telling me his name as well, introducing himself and explaining how he'd followed the boy in here.
Captain......snake is it? Well, I don't know who the boy is either, but he seems to be ok, and should wake up soon. By the way, don't remove the bandage around your neck for awhile, at least until the wound on your neck closes........you got cut a bit when you fell, you see. I added, watching as he nodded as if he understood, before he started to wander off into a side room.
"So, we have an 'explorer' on our hands, have we Lupinski? Oh well, at least he just entered a storage room. God knows what he'd say if he saw the labs downstairs." I thought to myself, before realsing that it might not even matter if either Snake or the boy knew about this facility anymore.....as who knew who had survived the event that just happened, or how far it reached worldwide?
Minutes later, Snake returned, showing signs of frustration as he kind of yelled at me: Alright, who has my gun?
Wlaking to him, I said: It's in there on top of a file cabinet.... I pointed towards the guardroom door, glad that the guns and ammo inside the guardroom were all locked up in a bullet proof/bomb proof cabinet......or at least they were supposed to be. Sometimes one of the guards on duty would check out a firearm and go into the nearby rooms to shoot trash and various unimportant stuff off of the shelves for kicks. I sure hoped they hadn't this time.
"The war isn't in here, after all, if one even occured outside anyways. As such, no one should need a gun......and until I feel it necessary the case is staying locked." I thought to myself, clutching the keyring in my pockets.
[Notes: The bunker is simple. On this level/hall are a guard station, a storage room, and a few other rooms. At the end of the hall, down a side corridor, is the elevator leading down. Below this level is the residential/barracks/commisary level.......with all kinds of living/leisure areas and offices. Below that is the laboratory level, which deals with the advanced train propulsion system research, and is also where the train station with the super train prototype is located.......which links this bunker to a few other minor ones.]
[Additional note: Below the laboratory level is a maintenance/utility level, with heating/cooling/water filtering/electricity production/etc stuff.]

Alright no matter. My gun was on the cabinent. I still had the guards gun.. it was a problem. I went to the corner of the bunker to tkae a seat and to get a hold of my thoughts. We had to get away. These bunkers were connected somehow so that would be our escape. We would go down hope for some sewers and get out of there.
I told Jack to come with me in the Storage room. Just to clear things up. I needed to ask him.. what was going on here and what was biohazardous things doing here. He explained to me what he was doing here. He was on a train project.. this had turned out better than expected we could take the train out of here.
Then I asked him about the vials again.. He said a guard brought them here a few days ago. He said he found it near the army camp just outside of the base.
That might have explained the strange apearences. I told him to bring that with us and left the room.
Alright guys. We're going underground.. Its the only way out.
Everyone was still silent but no matter. They knew it had to be down. I went to check if the power was working and it was. The backup supply anyway. I walked to the elevator and waited for the others. Jack no doubt would have taken my gun with him..
(Lets have some zombies undergroun shall we ?

Fishing my keycard out of my pocket, I asked the others to follow me to the elevator.......where I pushed the elevator call button, before the door chimes pinged, and we entered the car(elevator car). Luckily, the elevator was still powered, and I was hesitant at first as to which button to press.
Snake wanted to leave to another bunker farther away, by using the train. I knew we wouldn't last at another bunker without supplies, as the other bunker's structural states weren't known at the curent moment, or even if the supply rooms could still be accessed at another bunker.
That figured out, I pressed the button for level 2, as we headed towards the residential level.
Hey, I thought we agreed on leaving here. Why are we going down only one level? Snake asked.
To be honest, we should stock up on whatever supplies we can carry before moving further into the bunker and leaving via the experimental train system. Level 2 contains a cafeteria stocked with food as well as living quarters for the staff, as well as some offices and a first aid room. I replied, before bretahing deeply and continuing....just as we arrived on level 2, the doors opening in front of us onto a thankfully lighted hall.
Also, there are supposed to be a few others working with me in this bunker, and i'd hate to leave them behind. We should therefore go to the cafeteria and gather food supplies(granola bars, MREs, bottled water, canned food, etc.), while we also search the level for them.
Well, I dunno, but extra food sounds good. No telling what the food above ground is like now.....can I have a moment to think about it? Snake asked, as the boy followed next to him, looking around in curiousity at every room we passed/looked into.

We all entered the cafeteria, Jack leading. Fortunently the lights were still working. The boy sat down on a chair and I went to go have a look around. I could see that
this cafeteria was used lately. It seemed lifeless but it just had something in it. Then the washrooms caught my eye. It seemed as if someone had blocked the door as some sick mindless prank. I went over to the door and to my suprise it was even nailed shut. I went it and tried to pry it open.. it didn't work. I knocked on the door and yelled if anyone was there. All I head was a wierd noise. I went to the nearby storage room where Jack was and found a crowbar. I tried to pry the piece of wood holding the door stuck again. This time it fell off. As I opened the door something leaped at me and fell on the floor dead. Now this was odd.. I started to have strange suspicion about what jack was doing here..

Nice post Captn. Snake, but i'd kinda like to keep it as no zombies for now......maybe a sickness killing off people, or mutating them like in 28 Days Later?

Zombies? WTF?
Harry
I woke up, with a serious pain in my head. I got up and staggered around a bit, till I stood more or less solid. I got out of the bunker, and was shocked to see that all trees had been blown down. Fearing the worst, I ran towards the town as fast as possible.

There is radiation. But, how would he know everything about radiation? I mean, he is a 15 year old school boy! And, sitting in a bunker wich can collapse on your head isnt fun either.
Dont get down captainsnake.

Oh, oops. I guess I must have missed the character bio thing or whatever. I guess at the time of writing that I thought Harry was the Harry from Exodus, heh... Silly me.
