Hey, Im new to the forum. Anyways, In zp:source, im hoping that there will be a large limit of players- usually there are 36+ people running around on zombie mod for css, and its fun with all those people. Does anyone know if there will be a certain limit to the number of players to a server?

I am not sure of the max of the engine, but we have no limit hard coded, so its up to server operators to choose that.

I see no problem with 32 players, BUT that does depend on the map and the servers. It's hella fun with lots of people though :D
It would be even funnier with 64 players:laugh:
Not all servers would be able to handle it of course. But removing a limit like that won't make the game bad. If server lags like hell or crashes, then just turn down max amount of players.
Btw, was talking to server operatos, not devs.
And I'm pretty sure I've seen a server with 64 max players on a mod recently.
Maybe it was PVK...

Ive playd with 64 people on custom maps in CS:S....although it did slow down like hell (and I have a pretty decent computer)

The Source Engine does not like anything over 32 per server.

I'm guessing the max would be 32 players and I think that's just fine. I usually don't play in servers with people over 20 in CS: S servers anyway unless it is zombie horde

Trust me when I say this, ZP:S makes for an awesome game with 10+ people, granted the zombie(s) have to really work at it. Once it gets going, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Problem is, can we get 10+ people playing the mod for more than a few days unlike most mods. :sleep:

Thats not a problem. I know this mod will be popular, or atleast somewhat popular.

If its as good as the original and on the source engine, people will play it. Theres not many source mods out.

Now now clam down children (haha jk) If you have 32 survivors its a bit unbalanced don't cha know? Guns guns guns. HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO ARM ALL THOSE SUVIVORS.. That reminds me brb going to suggestions thread

all survivors dont need to be armed, and maybe the more ppl in the server, the more starting zombies, that would make it more fair

If that happens the survivors with no weapons have to stay back or die. Now imo staying back and doing nothing is boring... =/

Its probably going to lag if there are 32 players, especially if theyr all from differnt countrys. (which they probably will be)

When there are tons of people in a server, there is not much need for more than one starting zombie. The majority of survivors will be left without ammo, and generally only a player who is useless at playing as a zombie will have a hard time killing some survivors off, assuming it would be played on a even map.
It would be fun having more starting zombies despite that, though.
New gamemode I'll say:laugh:
3 starting zombies at 3 randomized locations :D
