This is mostly viewed through Jessica's point before, during and after RE: Infection RPG. It's like a flashback intertwined with her commentary. I think I also broke some of the canon in the story but I'm not sure where exactly. Also, I'll be posting in parts to past the post limits. Also, I don't know how much I'm gonna write, so I'm gonna make a few posts deadicated for editing and putting in the new parts. This post will also contain quick links to the next part.

My current draft has about 23,036 characters(according too OpenOffice) and counting. Expect more parts because this ain't gonna be written for 10,000 characters.

It might end up being longer then 10 parts due to how much I write. But no fear, quick links are here.

I'll never forget... 12 years ago today...

?The Look Back ? A collection of scatter thoughts.?

Late August, 1998.

3 months ago was when I started working as the Raccoon City Museum's Curator. After James Paige fell seriously sick. There was a string of sickness going around the city. What I didn't know was this was just a prelude of what was to come.

The next morning was fairly normal, I got a call from Elza saying she'll be visiting soon! She wants to get back to Uni after dropping out and starting a motorcycle club, well to say the least, it didn't end well.

The usual day to say the least. An increase in this weird sickness going around. A couple of guards; Jones, Plant, Bonham caught what ever this summer sickness is, leaving on Oliver around all alone for most night shift duties, otherwise Archer would be there too. I have to admit, Oliver's kinda cute, especially when he's air guitaring along too ?Killer Queen? and ?Let Me Live.? Couldn't be as old as I am. Archer is nice man, he's been treating me well since I took over for Paige. Has a father vibe going on there, but he's as old as my grandfather!

Mr. Archer would lightly scold Oliver when he was fooling around. Oliver usually brings everyone coffee. Very useful when I had to pull those overnighters.

It couldn't have been an even so boring night. It was so quiet even the dead would turn. Some of you wouldn't even know the merit of that meaning until the outbreak occurred.

After I got some coffee from the not-exactly-a-trainee-anymore guard, I saw one of the red warning lights go on. Thankfully tonight, both Archer and Oliver were on night shift.

?Don't worry Miss Drew, we'll handle it, you just lock your office door just in case alright??

?Roger that Mr. Archer.?

After that was said, I went back to working on all these permission slips for some school set to come in a few days. The late August weather sure feels good when the window is open.

Before I knew it, the whole situation was over. Cops arrived and took the idiot who decided to break in. Oliver called me from the CB radio and mentioned the all clear.

2 A.M. And I'm STILL here. God help me get passed this boredom. Just how many **** classes were coming here for that field trip. I wonder which one of them will call me ?Spider-Woman.? I predate the character by 4 years kid and I can't climb walls, glide or shoot venom blasts, although I would like to have them. Although I highly doubt those kids would even know her. I hate these slips.

3 A.M. And I'm off to bed on the couch. I usually don't tell anyone, but I always have a spare outfit hidden away in wrapping in this office. I'd never thought I'd be using it. But it'll get me to the Umbrella offices to request more staff and guards. This place is really under staffed at the moment. 2 receptionists, 6 tour guides, 4 day shift guards and 2 night shift ones. It's ridicules. Nearly all of us have been pulling in more shifts due to the summer sickness crap.

September 2nd 1998

Those kids started 2 weeks ago and now here I am, playing the happy tour guide for this place. Umbrella took the step up on this place and gave me more staff. Brian, Freddy, John & Roger took heed for the day shift duties after several shift around a few days before. All is well. Why it'd have to be at 9 in the morning?!

And many hours later at 3 PM! Their tour is over. I need some rest...

September 9th 1998

Another break in, another annoyance. I'm getting sick of these. I've been getting cramps lately. I switched to bottled water, it costs more but it seems to fix my aches and pains.

September 12th 1998

I'm meeting a Miss Alyssa Ashcroft at J's bar to talk about the break ins and all the weird stuff that's been happening.

It's 5 P.M. And I head out. Left some sandwiches for the night watchmen.

6 P.M and she's late. I met a nice waitress named Cindy. She talked to me during her 15 minute break waiting for Ashcroft.

It's 7 and I'm annoyed at this woman for being late, as I'm prepared to leave she comes in and asks for the usual from Cindy.

After a few hours of questions and some half-assed answers later she pulled a seeming off topic question.

?What's your take on what's happened in the past few months??

She honestly got me. I've always was bugged the hell out by what's been happening for the past few months.

?I honestly don't know. People disappearing and these weird cases of the summer sickness. I just want to get away from all of this, what about you??

After I said that, we went into a long discussion about this and ran past around various theories.

My, my, where does the time go. A few drinks later, I'm feeling a little tipsy. But I do wonder how do we go from talking about the Arkly Mountains incident to comparing our breasts. Cindy incidentally joined in our conversation. I don't really remember a good portion of it.

I ran into Yoko at J's, such a cute girl, she managed to take me home after a while. I didn't know she could drive a stick. In fact, I didn't know she could drive at all. She always walks or takes her bike.

September 13th 1998

I skipped work today due to a killer hangover. I managed to call up my brother to check how he's doing and announce my plans to get the hell out of Raccoon for a bit to clear my mind.

I feel bad for Cindy who must have had to endure our retarded conversation. I'll go apologize for it later after I clear my head.

I run into Cindy whose on her way to J's as I walk out of convince store. I apologize and she takes it light heartedly. Understanding I was drunk and all. She mentions some other things I did such as ... well, what girls do to each other sometimes to compare sizes. She asks why I bought out a whole row of water bottles.

Maybe it's me, but it's some sort of feeling I have. Usually my womanly instincts have good merit. I tell her it's because I hate the tap water into a filter method. Actually it's because I think the source of the summer sickness is the water that runs from the mountains too the filtration plant.

Elza canceled her trip over after getting a warning from someone not to come. The sooner I leave, the better. Sometimes the night is just getting too restless.

I got a message that the museum was broken into again, but this time, Oliver shot the intruder in the head, completely by accident, he was aiming for man's leg after his calls of warning were waived off. He's a little shaken up but alright. Frank was with him at the time and took care of the kid.

September 17th 1998

It's late and I'm once again stuck in my office of this building. A friend of mine at the hospital called me and told me about some strange cases of cannibalism. Cannibalism? It's been happening for the past few days now, flesh torn from victims, it's all over the papers.

He tells me to be careful from now on. He doesn't have to tell me this.

Oliver & Archer are on hand for tonight and being a good boy, Oliver brings coffee for me, I swear, he gets all tense when I'm around him for too long. His way of saying ?I want you?? or ?I want to tell you?? The shyness is kind of a turn on actually...

Why is my mind there?

As he leaves he goes back to singing along to Queen. Speaking of Queen, ?Let Me Live? is playing on the radio...

I opened my drawer and saw a pack of cigarettes. I quit months ago, why are these still here? Who cares.

So let me live, Let me live (leave me alone), Let me live, oh baby...

September 18th 1998

This is D-Day. This is the day my whole life changed...

The day started off fairly normal. The ?usual? as they say.

Elza called me saying her boyfriend is missing. Literally no trace of him anymore. All his things, including his car is still at his place. She's terribly worried and fears the worst.

After a few hours of support, I check my email inbox and there was an email from Elza's boyfriend.

After reading it, I couldn't believe it. Something virus is loose in Raccoon city! It said to get out of the city. I shrugged it off. There was no way this was possible. But what scared me was the last line.

If your reading this, then something must of happened to me.

Those words put sadness into me. I felt like crying. Maybe I was crying. It hurt so much. All I know was Rose walked in while this was all happening. She told me she was leaving and that the night shift guards arrived.

She asked if I was alright, and I told her that one of my best friends died and it hurt. After she left I got my scatterbrain back together and put on the work face for the night crew.

After checking in and saying hi to me, they moved around while the day and night shift guards discussed some the usual guy things (I suppose it was just the usual guy things) just outside my office. They disperse after I gave the ?get the hell out of my view/stop loitering and get back to work? with my water eyes.

Archer decides to check up on me unsurprisingly, said he noticed my blood shot eyes. He asked the ?are you doing drugs? question and I said no, I told him there was a passing of a friend, and he instantly got the idea that I didn't want to be bothered.

That however didn't stop Oliver from bringing me green tea today for some reason. He winked at him saying thanks for the food before. I must say, that's probably as much initiative he's going to take. There was a little note saying ?Thanks for all the fish...? and on the other side ?I meant sandwiches.?

Cute, his taste in reading materials is good.

Night comes.

Around 6:30 PM I turn on the radio and theres a news report on the cannibal disease. It's getting out of hand. At this point I'm frightened, I want to leave, but I'm afraid that I'll get jumped by one of those maniacs. My jeep being all the way on the bottom floor doesn't help either. That creepy garage...

The news report ends and now starts the Music Nighter on the local ACDC89 radio station.

Scar tissue gonna wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close yer eyes 'nd I'll kiss you 'cause
With only birds I share this lonely view with

That song plays on the radio as I gaze into the sky. Tonight feels off, but I can't stick my tongue on it. Oliver comes up to check up on me and asks when will I be heading home. I tell him I can't because I got more reports to file for the idiot over at R.C.P.D. Have those guys ever heard of a fax machine? Would it kill them to actually use their's once in a life time?

CRASH

Crash? What the hell is going on down there?! God this headache is starting to kill me. Can they just be quiet...

No longer then 20 minutes later...

BANG BANG BANG

Gunshots. GUNSHOTS?! I'm really f**king scared now. Just what the hell is happening?

I happened to glance over at the security monitors, and what did I see? A body. A f**king dead body. I called anyone... No response, just static. I browse the guard duty manifest to see who else is on. Tonpeti, Kujo, Oliver and Archer are on. Still, no response. I lock up the entrance door then the security door. This is big, there are people actually raiding the place!

I check the monitors again, and I see these things. For the lack of a better term, they were zombies. There is no way zombies could ever exist. But this, this was something truly terrifying. It defied everything known to modern science. There was no possible way for this to be happening.

I look at another monitor. There was Oliver! Running for his life...

Sorry for getting teared up a bit here...

There he was, running, he locked himself up in the guard booth in the west wing.

He calls on the CB, calling for anyone. I tell him it's me...

He told me he was bitten, while he explained the situation, I could hear their banging on the booth. He told me to get out by the north entrance. It was safe and clear from the threat.

He says their breaking through the glass. I can hear his screams and I hear gun shots then suddenly static.

I look at the monitor and I see 10, no 20 of these things on the monitor. I quickly shut off all the lights, that has to slow them down at least right? That's what I thought.

I have to get out...

It hit me, the fine men & women of RCPD could help! I went to their emergency frequencies.

CRASH

The glass shattered! Theres just no way they could of done that. I see maybe 8 or 10 just outside my office.

Oh no, they've made it passed the security glass. Come on please work! GOD ****IT PLEASE ANSWER! ANYONE PLEASE, I'M STUCK IN THE MUSEUM ON THE SECOND FLOOR, PLEASE!

I have to slow them down. The bookcase! Mahogany hardwood bookcase how I love you!

After some considerable effort on my part. I pushed it over across the door. There was no way they could get through that.

I could feel a rush going in me, and my nerves are moving towards that point. I still have those cigarettes, just one smoke... just one... I see the gun one of the guards gave me, and an extra cartridge.

I grab the gun and the CB and start taking into it.

If anyone can hear me, as long as these idiots keep bumping into things, they'll never find me

They start beating on the glass. The glass should hold them off for a bit, it's almost the same as the guard booth's but at a higher resistance. A small mob of them could break it... wait...

Oh god, oh god, their going to break the windows down. I run back to my desk and take out extra cartridge. These windows were suppose to stop bullets! Not mindless dolls beating it with their... hands and head!?

CRACK

A large crack appeared on the window... I close my eyes and wait. Then I hear shot, I instantly open my eyes. Then I see a big flash and blood, guts and entrails cover the window. I think I'm going to throw up. In fact, I did throw up.

Thank you lord, you brought a white knight to me.

But... he wasn't meant to live...

His blood loss is going to the extreme, and he tells me he feels weird. Like he understands what's going to happen if he lives. He tells me he'll turn and I'll be his first victim. He puts a shotgun on the secretary table and a magazine cart on it, taking one bullet.

?No... please... don't do this.....?

I'll never forget what he looked like when I looked at him. Giving off the very same smile when I first started working here, as if it's his way of saying ?Live on Jessica.?

?See ya in the funny papers...?

I shout back at him to tell him to stop, but it's too late. He blew out his brains. I see the blood splatter against a desk and his lifeless arm drop. 6 more of those things come into the room, sensing fresh blood, they begin eating his still warm flesh.

It sickens me... I want to kill them all, but I don't have the power to do it right now... Just not right now... My breathing slows down, something warm falls down my cheek. Why am fading away...

BANG BANG

More gunshots... I close my eyes hoping for them stop. But they don't...

Silence.

A man in what I think is military vest with a shotgun. He aimed his gun at my head from behind the glass, then he puts it down and told me his name is ?Captain Jason Winters.? Hank Archer was with him also. I unlocked the door and helped them push it open by pulling on the book case.

Afterwards, we set off walking into the darkness. We all heard a clicking sound, Winters ran off ahead of us then maybe about 10 minutes later he tells us to run like hell back to my office. And we ran like back as fast as we could. Running with heels isn't the easiest thing in the world though buddy.

We got back into my office and re-barricaded the door again by pushing the bookcase back. Locked the door too. I didn't notice, but once we got in my office, Winters was bleeding pretty bad. As bad as I could notice anyways. We cleared off my desk and put him on it. Then we heard these terrible crys. They didn't sound human... Whatever it was, it must have been pissed. Or angry. Or just alerting others.

He grabs my CB radio and tells someone named Ryan and Jimbo to meet up at the police station. Then he drops the radio and points at the plants beside my window.

?Herbs?

He said that while he passed out.

There was more howling... and gunfire. A lot of gunfire.

I couldn't tell how much had passed, but there was no more shooting.
?Is everyone alright??

A voice...

?That depends on your definition of 'alright'?
?No dying?
?Hold on a sec?

Me and Mr. Archer moved the bookcase and let these guys in. They made a pretty good job the thing that was chasing us wouldn't get up again.

After a very short introduction, Sam notices Winters is well, half dead, well not dead, but surely out of it. Then will, who looks pretty out of it himself goes over to the plants and picks it up.

Hank asked why he was out of it and what I heard made me pull up the gun I was holding from before. But it was strange, it seemed like they didn't HAVE any intelligence, but this one was helping Winters by pulling out a first aid kit and patching him up. Patching. Him. Up.

I move about in my office, no body seemed to notice that ?Save Me? was playing on the radio. I look around the monitors...

Oh f**k...

That seemed to get their attention, I pointed out that the pickup they used was being surrounded by the undead.

... Your kidding me, theres more in the building now, just how the hell they get in here? Did they forget to close the door or something. Tsch.

Lock down, I'm going to put this whole place under lock down. I tell em of what I'm gonna do and they agree with it.

I enter the key code while explaining. The building is sealed shut. Steel mesh covers all the entrances to the exhibits, all exits are locked and sealed by a metal sliding door and all doors are the same. This also shuts down the main power and turns on the emergency lighting.

After a couple of minutes idling and waiting for the building to complete lock down procedures, Winters gets up. Just what the hell is he doing, he isn't fit to move. He snaps back calling me ?sweet cheeks.? ?Sweet cheeks?? Just how old are you, you retard...

He takes the CB and changes the channel to some UBCS one. The after some talking silence.

Batteries are dead...

He throws the CB at the wall. I am well, unfazed at this.

Afterwards, he's all up and ready and tells us to go to the police station while he goes to the train yard.

Police station?

No... don't go Hank, stay with us... Winter then tells him to stay, we ?need a good gun.? I guess that's his way of saying ?protect them? or ?your too old, yer gonna slow me down.? Either way, I trust Hank more then these guys. He also mentions not to go into the sewers. Who'd want to go into that ~~~~~ hole anyways?

Afterwards we regroup and re-arm up. While everyone is speaking up ahead, I say a little prayer to Oliver.

I join up with them, they didn't move that far ahead. After some careful treading.

CRASH

A thing breaks right through the wall. That wall is hard as rock, just how the hell did that happen? Was the force great enough that it knocked me off my feet? My instincts are kicking in, my body is moving on it's own, crawling towards the other direction. Away from this, away from all this.

He knocks will away like a rag doll into a wall. Then he picked up Winters and tossed him over like a doll also. The rest of us high tailed it back INTO my office yet again. Oh but that did not stop it, it broke off the door AND the book case at the same time.

There was more shooting... so much shooting... My ears are ringing a bit... Who is that? Who is standing in front of me? Why is he choking me? I can't feel the ground... Can't... breath... where is it... It's on me I know it... ah! Here it is!

I pulled the trigger... and I fall on the floor, catching my breath, wheres the gun? Where did I drop the gun?

Hank grabs me out of range while the monster is just trying to hit anything. Winters is going to play up the macho act and tell us to get out. We took his advice without second regard, without looking back. We just ran.

Through here, and here, oh crap...

BANG, he took care of that. Another door, and another. With my key card in hand, we only came across maybe 5-6 stray lone zombies. I tell them that were going to the creepy basement to my jeep so we can get out of here.

Last door.

Creek.

Luck has gotten us this far, let's see if she's got anymore for us. Nope, huge giant exhibit fallen over. I hate lady luck. With a mob of those things just ahead of us, we run up to the fallen T-Rex and Will beings cutting it. Surviving > Historical exhibit.

Crash.

Oh well, that settles it, were screwed.

Bang bang bang.

Archer, Bob and Sam being taking pot shots at the zombies as Will cuts a huge skull so we can get past this and rush towards the elevators.

How long were we shooting for? I don't know, after it was cut we all sorta just ran. Ran towards the elevator doors. It wasn't until later I noticed Will was missing... There was obviously no time to wait, but the sudden silence filled the lift until we reached to the garage level.

The garage still had working lights, that's strange, they aren't on a separate circuit. I point out to my jeep and Hank told me to use the remote to open the doors.

Click... the doors unlock, BEEP BEEP... the signal alarm decides to say.
Well crap, that must of gotten their attention. Walking down a desolate straight path to my jeep. This felt like the longest walk I've ever done. Some of the lights flicker and the garage door is closed, but the guard station is still open. It should have been sealed shut, just what the hell is up with this place. No one else other then me could of done that.

We've made it to the jeep, I tell them to get ready to pick me up on their way out with the most fake smile I can do... Just to give a little hope. I tread lightly walking to the guard station...

Thud, thud, thud, thud...

Sounds like someone is hitting a wall or something... I move a bit faster, so far so good. Alright, I'm in, I slide my card, turn the key and the door beings to open. A slight breath of relief. Bob drives around slowly not wanting to draw any attention with the noise. With everyone inside they wait for me come back. I walk a bit quicker this time. It's all smooth, were gonna get out of here alive after all.

CRASH...

What the hell is that? It just broke through the wall and the guard station! F**k this. Before I knew it I was frozen. Archer shouted at me to get out of the way. Bob seemed to hit the pedal and drove right into that thing. The next thing I know the pulled me in. My string of luck has to be running out.

Just drive and don't look back... I really should of taken my vacation earlier.
