so as many of you know i've been making maps for ZP:HL ...well i made a map called NOTLD still in alpha stages
(still WIP also)
so while im making that map for ZP:hl it inspired me to make a map for source! as in the same map just upgraded graphics (obviously) and physics and what not...
this is going to be called "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: REVISTED"
so far i've worked 2 solid days on the map...and this is what i have...take note im new to the source engine and just reading and learning and doing as i go

is that a good thing that its looking scary people are telling me it "too dark" but thats part of being scary ha ;) i gotta fix the ligthing more i know but its only day 2 :) i cant wait til source comes out...i hope you guys like me enough to use one of my maps on release

Haha, I can't see anything about the layout in those images. From what I can tell, you have one hall with a blue light done, one kitchen done, and one window.

so i was bored and am getting super exicted with the progress of my map..this is a small "Trailer" :P you'll see why of what to expect ...but take note there will be a good amount of changes..concidering this is only 3 days of work that im showing off....i hope you like the video...thanks!

The amount of blood on the walls is a bit overdone.
Other than that, it seems a bit small - especially around that TV.

yes the sofa can be moved :) i made those areas small for a reason...in the movie...they are pretty small..i mean i'll make them bigger..but when i made them bigger for the zp:hl verson ...people were saying they were too big

I am actualy liking it a lot. Its looking pretty good. Love the shutters on the phys_hinge, nice touch.
Maybe a few more lights would be nice. In the movie, the house seemed well lit. Will you be able to fire the gass tank and start a fire like in the movie? That was a pretty great part because it was a stupid move on their part.

It seems alot different than the movie version... Just adding my 2-cents.
yes its suppose to...the house isnt as "well lit or as nice looking in this one...for the simple fact taht you are REVISITING it as if it had already been invaded...
but if this mod had a story mode it'd go like this
a couple surviors on the run from zombies find a house...looks like a good fornication from the outside...they enter it...try to stay alive as long as possible..not knowing how easy it is for a zombie to invade...there will be breakable floors/walls where zombies can make humans drop through :P and of course walls they can breka down so they can chase you...so far im working on the enviorment around the house..im trying to learn to use this displacement tool...but its actually a pain in the *** if your connecting more than one brush :P but so far the house is done for the most part aside from breakable stuff...but yeah hope you all like the final result

Just for everybody, the map is supposed to be small, you are in a very small cabin, it's not one of those horrible maps where you find an AK and go hide in a vent and be like "lol dumb nub zomb0z."

So..some probably thought i gave up on the map but i did not INFACT the whole upstairs is done, im reapplying some textures, new light fixtures map is way brighter than the video, and im currently working on the outdoors part , but im warning you, i SUCK at displacement tools im just learnign how to use it ;\
opinions and ideas are still greatly accepted
oh and the map is not this bright i just didnt load the RAD compile so that you could see it all ;)

Ummm... You really need to fix up those displacements. Right now, they look like giant spikes. It looks like it would pierce my foot the way it is now.

Lookin great so far. Some of the interior shots look really good but it looks kinda small from the outside. It looks like youve gone a bit over the top with the blood decals in the bathroom too. :D

As I said earlier, the amount of blood is overwhelming - I suggest that you try a smaller amount of blood, and not only the biggest blood decals. (Also, I can't imagine how someone would be able to bleed ON the ceiling, unless the gravity was somehow reversed.)
The house seems a little small, maybe you should try making some of the rooms bigger, or possibly add another extra room. I think ZPS will have more players ingame than the one for Half-Life. Your map could possibly fit 10-15 players, without having it overcrowded.
As for the outside area, the ground is a bit spiky - try smoothing it out.
Maybe add something like a lawn with a fence on the side of the house?
And lastly, I reccomend you to experiment with some tree and rock models outside.
Anyway, keep it up.

Archanor, I agree with everything you said about the map, except for the blood part. I kinda like the blood everywhere, It looks like the people in there before got completely massecerd by the zombies. and it adds a creepy touch.

well, blood can splater and spray, when arteries are broken it is like a fountain... so yes, it could be on the ceiling.

so i go on my PC to start working on my Map power it on, and to my demise both of my hard drives were fried, yes both my main and my backup, there was a power outage here shut my computer down and i couldnt recover any data off either drives, so the map...is gone -_- i am very upset about this so im going to do this, i will remake the house but i want to ask anyone who is good with the displacement tool to work on an outside area of the house, i will redo the house make it bigger than it was as people have said it was small, and make it better than it was, it took a while to make that map, but that was cause i was still learning, im sorry but i dont know if this map will release the same day as the ZP:S mod is out
i promise you all that are excited about the map that it will be remade and this time i will be putting more time and effort into it and i'll be saving to a external usb flash drive

heh, yeah it was not done but the whole bulding was 0.o that sucked so bad
but i will remake it
im gettin a laptop able to run hammer soon so that'll be good i can do it at work as im a computer tech so i sit at a desk all day anyway

well i work 6 days a week ;\ so its kinda hard but i dont wanna stop so this laptop is good for mapping but probably not for gaming as i havent tried lol, it will probably push 15 FPS max in gaming so i dont wanna but it will be able to map

only thing is that the quality of your screenshots my bit a bit lower than before but that won't really matter too much. Long as we can get a basic idea of what you're doing then thats what really matters.
