We're excited to announce that NOESIS Interactive is interested in sponsoring the Official ZPS Halloween Prop Contest. There's something weird about the frikapop sign in the first pic it looks weird I'm not sure why but it does

On a happier note im glad to see that the waitress model is updated. I must say i like the lighting on the zpa_town
If its not out of line to ask what has been updated on tanker,kerretti, deadend, policestation, and asylum?

I'll be happy to see new players being able to naviagte new levels easier. I remember back when I started playing Zombie Panic. I loved the objective maps that were added, but it took me forever and much pestering of experienced players to figure things out in some of them.

Is there any chance of zps_subway and zps_deadblock to be re-released unofficially like zps_industry was? I would gladly fix up subway after my troll status is removed.

We never released industry as an unofficial map. You'd have to ask their creators if you want to edit their maps, as we won't be releasing the vmf for either.

Again, we (the ZPS team) have *never* released industry as unofficial. Someone else did it, by doing what I just said you would have to do if you want to edit the other maps in question. This is the end of this discussion.

Theres nothing wrong with subway, its just the zps version become obsolete really when the zpo version came out

Your implying that if that happened, I would ~~~~ over the team that made my most played game by putting download links to the vmf everywhere? What makes you think that? I would NEVER do something like that! Plus, even if I did, they would know immediately who did it.
(Frika, this scenario is all hypothetical)
Besides, like I said, I might just copy the bsp from my zps/maps folder and post the bsp download, which is about the same amount of threat as having the map in the zps/maps folder in the first place.
(although it may be in the .gcf)

I don't know what 'Berserk' mode is for zombies.... but it sounds f*cking aces! Any chance of a little more info on what that will involve....? pretty please, with jam on top? :D
Also, and sorry if this sounds like a noob question... but won't people still be able to play zps_subway since they will have it in their map folder? I mean if it will be auto-deleted in the update then can't people just back it up and make it available to play....?
loving the anticipation of the update guys, can't wait :D

We obviously can't make a map unavailable to play. But the file will no longer be uploaded/updated by us, and we'll no longer support it.
In any case, it isn't just in the maps folder, you won't find any of the official maps there. The engine loads it from content files, just like any other source game hosted by Steam. We're simply removing it from the content file.
And berzerk we will explain in due time. :)

Wanna say a big thanks for removing ZPS versions of Subway and Deadblock.
Shorty story: The other night I finally noticed a populated server with a ping under 150 after weeks of searching. I joined, and to my surprise most of the other players said they too were playing because it was the only server with people and a low ping. Sucks to live down here.
Anyway, this server was totally vanilla. No mods, no rtv, no admin and normal map rotation. What could ruin this golden nugget of playing for once? The map was zps_deadblock. Ohhh myy goddd! Gameplay was terrible, long long rounds with heaps of spectators, no real goal or motivation to play. At the end of every round 1 or 2 people would leave bringing the total amount of players to <10. Those of us who had hope kept trying to convince people to stay because the map would eventually change to something mildly interesting. In the end I left myself because it just got too boring.
Same thing happens with subway, it's an objective map with no objectives and endless places to hide. So yeah, this has to be the best feature yet. Deleting crap.
Club Zombo is looking way better, only grip I have with it is the repeating "stand in line" poles things but it could be worse. Town got the makeover it's been wanting forever, love the color scheme and snow. Add a couple more obvious weapons and it might get the love it deserves from the people.
Zombie ability is much welcomed, whatever it may be (rage mode?). And I can already tell the waitress model got some attention just by looking at her in the distance of those shots. For once I'm not throwing my toys around, and it feels wrong!

I've always liked the dusk/dawn effect for zombie maps, because it offers such awesome natural lighting from a single light_environment... so when I say I'm horribly disappointed in the lighting of zpa_town, I don't mean it in a "you did it poorly" kind of way. I just think you have a lot more potential with it.
(Would street lamps be on with that much light present, reeeaaalllyyy?)

I love the current night theme that town has, idk if the zpa version has its own lighting or if zps_town has taken on the same lighting scheme. I guess ill have to wait to see.
I liked deadblock before 1.3 and the redesign it got for the zpo conversion, but that was a long time ago and the zps version now just doesnt work. so removing it makes sense and with subway being a zps its the same thing as zero said.
Im just happy that we get new shiny maps!!! :)

Maybe have them on a timer so that they come on after so much time (some street lights are like that)

Watchmaker lives on some dark ~~~ streets. It's quite common for lights to turn on when it gets dark on the streets. Watch is just silly.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that zps_town does not need more obvious weapon placements put in and I (respectfully) do not give a ~~~~ if it does not get the love it deserves because it is currently a very well balanced and well liked map by nearly all true Zombie Panic players (although exceptions do exist as I am sure it is not everyone's cup of tea.)
On the update in general, after I read the current revelations in the change log I got that giddy feeling you get as a kid when Christmas is approaching.
I keep hoping there will be a new character added, although it seems too much to ask for with everything else. Still, it is like that one present you secretly really want for Christmas, and your parents know it, but it seems like too much to ask for so you never make a big deal about it...Then Christmas arrives and you open your presents, satisfied with all of them. Then, right when you think there are none left, your parents plonk that last one down in front of you, that one you secretly wanted, and you realize you knew deep down they had been planning on getting it for you all along.
So by that logic...new character, yeah!

Ok good to know! I think town is probably still the hardest map in the game, because of all the random spawns.
