A number of times in a group I've found myself in tight spots, where we REALLY need to get barricades, but don't have the resources. This is where it gets tricky.
First of all: If you have barricades, use them. Even better, if you have Heavy barricades and the teammates to maintain them, do that. This is for everyone who need tools to survive an underequipped room.
It pays off to have long-reach weapons, particularly fast-hitting and damaging weapons. Reach doesn't have to be too big of an issue, because as long as you can hit a zombie before it can hit you, and the knockback is sufficient, you're good. Using a combination of barricades for entryways that must be barricaded and positioning teamates in those that can be defended easier are key.
Ex.
You're in a room with a large doorway and two windows. You and your teammates have a golf club, a crowbar, and a shovel. There are 3 medium-sized file cabinets and a long metal table. Use the metal table and the cabinets for the door and have the person with the shovel guard the doorway, and have the others cover the windows (Assuming they can't get through them without crouching through).
Other strategies are welcome :D
