I made a knife for the melee weapon. Crowbars are cool, but I like knives.
Right now, it's just a model. I still need to port it to milkshape to animate it.
Ehm. About 15-20 minutes to make. It's 368 polies. Pretty low. I might smooth the handle more.
Whoops forgot teh knife!

It does look cool, but it sure does look like a prison shiver. Good job to you, and dont stop modelling :P

It could be used on a map where the survivors are in a prison.

Yes, you shud make a map with the shiver. In a prison where the zombies are the prisoners, that have been deformed. And you should make a L.A.P.D survivor :o , then it would be a kool prison theme map!

You can't make seperate models for each map.
Are you gonna make new anims or use the crowbar ones?

Yeah, it could be another melee weapon and do more damage than the crowbar. It could be hidden in one of the cells or something (If that map is made). I'm not sure if the crowbar animations would look good with a knife. Although I am lazy.

I made my own hand for it (Good practice). 1442 all together. I'll end up switching to the default though. I'm still trying to find a Maya to Milkshape converter.

Well I have Maya Personal Learning Edition (free). It exports to .mp and that's it. The full version costs $4000 or something like that, I have $50 right now.

why is the blade chipped? i dont like that part :*( imo you should make a combat / hunting style knife...

I was trying to give it a "Something you found in a trashcan" look, rather than "Shiny knife that you just got out of the kitchen" look. I might make a less worn version though.
Edit: An HL converter comes with the SDK. But those bastards at Alias don't let you use plugins with PLE. I'll have to save up $2000.

The hand looks like it is made of wax, I would smooth out the handle too, make it a little rounder, and add some nice splotches of blood on the knife ^^
Very good start =] I'll enjoy watching this.

This thread is still alive? Wow! You won't be able to see any more models from me for a long time, as the HL SDK Maya plugins only work with the full version.
Here's another one I did. Kind of high poly though.
